>> now from abc 7 come alive, breaking news. >> security advising that we saw people running. >> the embarcadero. chaos coming on a busy father's day sunday. thank you for joining us. i am dion lim. right away, here is what we know right now. two shootings were reported at 7:00 p.m. police say the first shooting happened at beach and stockton across the street from pier 39. two cars were exchanging gunfire as they chased after eachth. shortl after, another shootin

scene happened on the embarcadero at howard. police are confirming at least two people were hit tonight. we have live team covered for you as we work to get you the latest information. that's begin with abc seven news reporter j.r. stone at the embarcadero scene and still very active at last check. j.r.: it certainly is. this area along the embarcadero has been closed off with yellow crime scene tape for at least four hours. as we pan off, you can see some of those detectives, but it is not just those detectives. we are waiting word for the police chief who should be speaking at any minute. detectives working along the embarcadero sunday night where evidence markers were scattered everywhere. >> it sounded like backfire from a car engine and also you heard pa j.r.: that from a woman eating

in this area with her family on the embarcadero. please confirm at least two people were shot. witnesses tell us those witnesses -- those victims were shown in the car being chased by a white sedan. >> we saw the car crash on the bullet holes, and this was a whole thing. >> our friend in the military said those are gunshots, get down. >> my mother looked around and saw the car flipping over, but that is it. j.r.: some who saw this from their hotel said they were at pier 39 when they heard this. >> we were just there at pier 39 and the parking garage across the street ended like fireworks went off. but the fear on their faces and somebody ran off and said he is coming, shooter, so i took off running. j.r.: tourists and locals alike troubled by what happened. >> we are in the embarcadero on

a nice night, sunday night father's day come and that is what you hear? i want to leave also. j.r.: back out here live along the embarcadero at howard, we are in the shadows of the bay bridge. it is still roped off with crime scene tape and detectives out there. as i look into the distance, i can see the chief who will be talking shortly. no arrests have been made and we do not know the circumstances behind what may have originally gone down. we are hoping to get those answers in the next couple of minutes. j.r. stone, abc 7 news. dion: much appreciated to you and until we get those answers, let's get to abc7news reporter lena howland. she is across the street pier 39 where the shooting first broke out. what are you hearing coming from that scene? lena: police are still out

right now investigating this active scene just steps away from pier 39. we are right across from that pier 39 parking garage. at this point in time as you heard from j.r., there was a gun battle that happened in front of pier 39 packed with people celebrating father's day weekend, involving this red pickup truck you see behind me where we are seeing multiple bullet holes through the driver's side window and also through the windshield of that car. multiple sources have confirmed to abc 7 around 6:50 this evening, somebody in a black suv shot at a white parked sedan. suv took off before leaving the city on a short chase bid sources believe someone in the white sedan fired around 20 shots, leaving shell casings scattered along the road in front of the pier 39 parking garage. we spoke to a number of

witnesses, but for now we will toss it back over to you. dion: thank you for your work at that scene. let's get to the sfpd chief right now who is set to address the public. more on the shootings that happened along the waterfront. >> i will open it up to a few questions afterwards. ready? >> everybody good? >> thank you. i am chief bill scott o francisco police department bid i want to give you an update on a shooting that occurred today on the embarcadero in this area. at approximately 6:48 p.m. this evening, reports of a car to car shooting were called into the san francisco police department of emergency management dispatch. two cars were involved and from what we know at this point, the shooting started near stockton and eighth mile from here. those two cars traveled to the

embarcadero and came south. gunshots were exchanged during the traveling from the initial location and the cars drove recklessly and chased each other while engaged in gunfire. until that incident included behind me at howard and the embarcadero. -- concluded behind me at howard and embarcadero. there were three people injured from the gunfire and those injuries consisted of glass shards and other injuries. those are nonlife threatening. we had two young girls that were struck by these cars that were driving recklessly. one, a 10-year-old was injured and transported, nonlife threatening, and the other is a 16-year-old. we had two victims of gunshot wounds, both transported. one has life-threatening injuries and the other has nonlife threatening injuries.

our investigators are working tirelessly and we will be working through the night. a couple of things to point out. our officers where there within four minutes. we recovered a lot of evidence and we believe there is a lot of video, including cellphone video. we ask anybody of the public that saw this, that can help shed light on any of this incident, please call our tip line. you can remain anonymous at the number. i also want to highlight a couple of things. and it appears this was an isolated incident and these individuals were targeting each other. we do not believe this is random at all, and our investigators are working hard i have every confidence that we will bring this to a conclusion, but we still have a car outstanding and the occupants of the second car still outstanding, so that is where we are right now.

that is as much as i can share with you, but again, we do not believe this is a random incident. this appears to be a targeted incident between the individuals involved and this was a sickly a car to car shooting. -- basically a card to car shooting. after this thing started, our officers were there quickly and luckily nobody else was hurt. it is unfortunate that people had to witness this and it is unfortunate that we had three to five injuries could have been worse. there were four injured. let me back up. three were injured from glass shards in the area of gunfire, two people as they were walking their bikes across the street were struck, and one of those young girls was struck, and then we had two gunshot victims. three, one, and 2, 6 in all that

were injured. . >> we saw the bullet holes in the black suv. is there any reason to believe those in the black suv were involved in the shooting too? >> the evidence points that this was a car to car shooting. gunshots were fired from both vehicles. that is what we believe at this point. >> i have seen a white sudan. is that the other car we are looking at? >> we do know it is a white sedan we are looking for. we are looking for more evidence. like i said, there is a lot of surveillance video along this block and as we speak, you see investigators behind you trying to treat -- retrieve as much video as we can and we are sure because there is already video on social media that there were people out here with cell phones , so we are asking that those people please call the san francisco police department and

make that video available to our investigators. >> [indiscernible] >> that suv was definitely involved. >> you talked about the pedestrians that were hit paid we had something about a cyclist. where those pedestrians on a bicycle? >> there were walking their bicycles across the street, so that is where that came from. they were walking their bicycles across the street, but they were not on bicycles at the time. >> it sounds like it was isolated to those two. it's unlike these people had a total disregard for anyone around who lives here in san francisco. what is your message to people who would come to san francisco or who commit these acts? >> there will be accountability. as i have said to you all, i have every confidence in our officers and investigators.

we have seen these cases resolved. i am confident we will resolve this case and the message is clear. you cannot and will not come to the city and commit these types of acts and walk away and get away with it. we will find you. we will find you and you will go to jail, so that is the message. this is a beautiful city. it is unfortunate that this happened. it is really unfortunate this happened, but we need to bring these folks to justice and bring them to account. not only did we have people injured, just people who had to see this, and these are very traumatizing types of events did it is on a beautiful, father's day and we had this type of chaos in our city. that is unacceptable, which is why we will work until we find everybody involved. >> [indiscernible] >> we have information right now, very good clues, and

were injured by gunfire, we definitely will be talking to those folks to figure out exactly what their role in t if any, was, but at this point we do not have anybody in custody and we will let you all know as this proceeds, but i have every confidence that we are deeply into this investigation and we are unraveling what happened. >> is there a reason to believe this could be gang related? outside of san francisco? >> we cannot confirm that at this point. this just happened four hours ago, there is a lot of information knowing in, and we always want to make sure we are sure of what we report out to you all in the public, so believe me there is a lot of information, but i need to wait and let our folks have the time to confirm, so when we put out

information, is accurate and spot on, so there is a lot of information to follow up on, but i am confident we will have those answers for you quickly. >> as far as the timeline came in at six foot exam a, do you have a sense of when the other victims along the incident for the crash happened? >> it happened pretty quickly. i do not have the exact timeline, but it unfolded quickly. it's what he ate them, they were driving recklessly -- 6:48, they were driving recklessly, and it only took a few minutes to get from where it started to where it ended. we will sink that timeline up with whatever video evidence we are able to put together as well, but it did happen fairly quickly. >> are there any city that [indiscernible] dion: for those of you joining us in progress, you have been listening to a press briefing from san francisco police chief bill scott with regards to the

shootings that happened along the embarcadero, them -- the waterfront of san francisco on this father's day. he told us two vehicles were involved and the shooting started in the area of stockton and beach just before 7:00 this evening. chief scott described this as a car to car shooting involving reckless driving. when you look at the two locations across the area from pier 39 down to the embarcadero at howard, it is less than two miles. here's the breakdown of those injured tonight. we know there were two gunshot victims, one with life-threatening injuries. three people were injured from glass shards as a result of the shooting. these are people who were hit by the errant gunfire. we also know there were two young girls who happened to be hit by the reckless driving from point a to point b. chief scott lead on there were two individuals that were ages

10 and 16, both young girls. officers responded very quickly. the scenes have been busy for the past four hours. they arrived at the first and second locations within about four minutes. there has been a number of evidence markers collected from both scenes. we had cruise at both counted more than 20 casings on the ground. chief scott says there are a number of videos, whether they be from cell phone bystanders or surveillance videos, being a busy area, those that are dining at nearby restaurants, or tourists in the area for father's day and for the holiday weekend. chief scott also mentioned this was an isolated incident involving two people targeting each other, one in an suv and the other in what appears to be a white sudan. as of now, there are no arrests

biden will reportedly visit marin county. governor newsom is set to be on the guest list. dion: shifting gears now to talk about the weather and things really felt seasonal despite the extreme winds. >> unfortunately we are still below average for this time of year and keeping that way for a while. here's a live look at the satellite image, clear skies with plenty of sunshine today. here is a look from our sutro tower. you can see the embarcadero street and in san francisco, things are cooling down. mountain view 57, san jose 58 degrees, and more of the 50's in half moon bay. from emeryville, we are looking towards the bay bridge and temperatures have come down a bit. we saw 80's for some inland locations today but we will see them tomorrow. in santa rosa, 60 degrees. novato at 57,

livermore at 56 degrees. check out how windy it is across the bridge. you can see the camera moving around. we will be dealing with blustery conditions again and it will be even cooler for juneteenth tomorrow. then slightly warmer for the first day of summer on wednesday, but we are going to stay above average through next weekend for the pride festivities. here is a look at when they winds -- here's a look at the winds right now. they have died down from earlier today. it has come down but still at 31 miles per hour. the winds will continue to stay strong. overnight into tomorrow morning, we will still see breezy conditions and in the afternoon it will pick up a gust could reach 30 miles per hour and because the winds are coming from the northwest, this is bringing the cooler air. lows tonight will be dropping into the upper 40's for some north bay locations where we

will see clear skies this evening like santa rosa and napa. then we could see some low clouds along the coast and parts of the south bay. temperatures in the bay will generally be around the low 50's when you wake up tomorrow morning. highs tomorrow are still windy and that means half moon bay will only be in the upper 50's and around the bay we will see the 60's. oakland at 67, san jose 68, and low 70's for some of our warmest inland locations. our average in livermore is at 83, but tomorrow only 70. check out thursday. it will really cool down because we have another system moving through. that means temperatures for inland areas almost 15 degrees below average, but here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. for juneteenth, another windy day, and tuesday will still be breezy but temperature start to climb up a bit into summer where we get more sunshine and inland numbers will be warmer, then a

dion: back to our major breaking news as we take a live look from the embarcadero. things do appear quiet along this stretch. however, just before 7:00 this evening, there were multiple reports of a gun battle erecting in the heart of san francisco across the street from busy pier 39. sfpd chief bill scott briefed

the media and the public moments ago, indicating six people were injured during this gunbattle which he described as a car to car shooting incident that spanned over a mile, ending along the area of embarcadero and howard street. we have crews at both scenes at the beginning and the end. we will have briefings for you throughout the rest of the newscast. moving onto to new developments. the trip to and from your home to sfo could take a matter of minutes in the future. all electric aircraft company you mobility is partnered with united airlines to someday bring electric flying taxis to sfo. it offers quick tri from the airport. united announced a $15 million announcement in the company with a purchase of 200 flight taxes last year. eve expects its first air electric taxi to take its maiden flight in 2026.

>> now from abc 7, life breaking news. dion: gunfire along the san francisco waterfront this evening, a rolling shootout down the embarcadero has left six people hurt, at least four of them civilians caught up in the raage bid all of this began before 7:00onight at each end

stockton street across the street from pier 39. that is where gunfire erected. three civilians were iur by flying glass. th battle made its way down the embaadero until four shots were fired around howard street. police found one of the cars idled there. witnesses, many of them tourists, tell abc 7 the scene was chaotic. dozens of rounds fired. police chief william scott says those cars sped down the embarcadero, hitting a pair of girls at just 10 and 16. more shots were exchanged near the embarcadero at howard street areas. that is where one of the vehicles involved was found. >> the message is clear. you cannot and will not come to the city and commit these types of acts and get away with it. we will find you. we will find you and you will go to jail. dion: the chief indicating that
