the president is here for a fundraiser. it will be at the home of mark and stephanie robinson. mark robinson is a bay area on newer working in the pharmaceutical and biotech field. no surprise the president is here. it is one of the most democratic counties in all of the u.s. in one of the wealthiest in terms of per capita income. the vibe out here was ecstatic. dozens up and down magnolia avenue. waiting to see a glimpse of the president. i want to give you a chance of what they had to say. >> i'm beside myself. i have loved joe biden my entire life. i am missing a lesson to be here. i'm so excited and thrilled. >> i was eating at a restaurant.

francisco's mission district following the mass shooting at a block party nearly two weeks ago. community members are calling on officials to do more to reduce gun violence and increase safety. nine people were injured in the block party shooting. that was june 9. police arrested a suspect last week. the rally will be held on the corner of mission at 24th at 5:30. >> a yolo county jury will determine whether the davis stabbing spree suspect will be tried for murder. a judge announced a court-appointed doctor found carlos dominguez not confident to stand trial. he blurted out "i wanted to say i'm sorry and that i'm guilty. he's accused of stabbing three people, two died and a third was severely injured. the competency trial is scheduled for next month. police are investi a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.

the flooding a few hours later. water stopped in parts of the facility. people were given icewater and escorted to showers and restrooms. >> heads up if you access treasure island from the inbound of the bay bridge. it is going to close on thursday morning. after that, you will need to take the new exit on the right side of the bridge at the end of the tunnel. the exit opened about a month ago. the old left lane exit will reopen in a few years after it gets a major upgrade. >> the bay area's biggest summer concert is about six weeks away. the full lineup is starting to take shape. organizers revealed acts that will play outside of the night shows. they will play 12 after our shows across eight san francisco venues. it includes poolside, dj diesel, better known as shaquille o'neal

environment. and how we can protect them looking toward the future. we are looking at how much you may be at risk of cooking a meal in your own home. researchers found using a common appliance may increase your chances of developing cancer. dustin dorsey looks at the study involving the dangers from using an everyday gas stove. >> what is potentially more dangerous for your health? stead and someone smoking or cooking dinner? looking at chemical exposures from gas stoves, a surprising answer. >> a single gas burner on high at 150 fahrenheit raised venting concentrations above the estimate of benzene concentrations found in secondhand smoke in about one third of the cases. >> they used a specialized instrument to measure chemicals from 90 stoves in california and colorado with a simple flip of the dial.

turning on a gas or propane stove shop, benzene is released into the air. researchers found the concentrations not only filled the kitchen, but spread through the home. >> people have known benzene forms in refineries and oil and gas fields, but no one was able to look at homes. >> even at low doses, benzene exposure can lead to leukemia and other types of cancer. >> i'm hard-pressed to think of a more powerful chemical cause of leukemia. >> the announcement comes days after two bills were passed by the u.s. house of representatives protecting gas stove use, including limiting consumer product safety commission from banning them. rob jackson says this study does not suggest the appliances should be outlawed but hopes the community is better informed of the threat they pose and hope standards move away from the gas stoves. >> we would never stand over the

in order to understand it, you must understand its root causes. >> one of the larger studies ever conducted took a look at the who and why of homelessness. >> leanne melendez is in the newsroom with the results. >> the fundamental problem, rents are too high. there is a disparity between income and cost of rent. a one-bedroom apartment in california, we know that. it seems the problems are much worse and a few things in the report surprised us. one can follow the people living in trailers along lake merced boulevard in san francisco and find most share some of the most unforeseen circumstances that brought them here. >> i didn't have a job. >> i got into a motorcycle accident. >> even when we had a job and tried looking for housing, it was impossible.

>> bedding off homelessness and housing initiative conducted a study that surveyed more than 3000 homeless people in california. >> we learned they lost their housing mostly because they could not afford rent. >> nine out of 10 ss people lost their homes while living in california, dispelling the myth they migrated here. 75% state in the same county. 66% were born in california. the dian age black and native american groups were overrepresented, even thou the overall population numbers are low. while california is home to 12% of the u.s. population, the state has 30% of the homeless population. >> about one in five people came directly from an institution. things like jails, prisons, hospitals, that is not

time for the four at 4:00. the record-breaking turnout of the college world series had nothing to do with the play on the field. a bar in omaha sells jell-o shots for the teams. they keep count of which fans buy the most. lsu fans shattered the record by buying 22,000 jell-o shots. ole miss set the record last year with a little more than 18,000. stanford fans bought about 700 shots. stanford fans are more wine
