york, this is america our hopes of finding the five person crew with their oxygen set to run out this morning. and what some experts are now saying was a missed opportunity earlier this week. breaking news, another deadly tornado in texas . this as parts of the state bake under relentless heat. elsewhere our new video as ferocious hail batters. people at this concert. dozens of injuries reported. but we want to begin with the search for that sub missing in the north atlantic. the crew is expected to run out of oxygen later this morning and the search has turned up empty even after sonar devices picked up more underwater noises. and now new questions are emerging about possible missed opportunities. earlier in the search. this morning, new claims that bureaucracy may have delayed lifesaving efforts to find that sub in the north atlantic. missing since sunday as it headed to the titanic wreckage site. two and a half miles below the surface, according to national geographic. the deep sea exploration company, the explorer club, had been trying to send potentially life saving technology to the site since shortly after the news broke about the rescue mission. they have noted that since monday, they have been reaching out to us authorities and saying that

there is a concern about how to retrieve this vessel if they could find it. national geographic reports special underwater drones outfitted with external arms could have been delivered to the site within 16 hours from the uk. but explorers club president richard garriott reportedly emailed the navy and coast guard yesterday, saying they have received mixed signals. first hearing from us government to get ready, waiting for plans. then getting told to stand down. hours after that email was reportedly sent, the coast guard confirmed one of the special underwater drones was now in route. this is a search and rescue mission. 100% will continue to put every available asset that we have in an effort to find the titan and the crew members. a french ship was expected to arrive at the site overnight equipped with a deep sea robot that could free the sub if it's stuck. but the robot cannot lift the sub to the surface. search crews have been scouring an area twice the size of connecticut. the five crew members aboard the submersible, including a british billionaire, a pakistani businessman and his son. and a world renowned titanic researcher, were locked

in from the outside with 70 mean bolts and no escape hatch. even people expressing optimism warned many obstacles remain from pinpointing the vessel's location to bringing it to the surface, assuming it's still intact. all that has to happen before the crews oxygen supply runs out as early as this morning. everybody's talking about this kind of you know, tomorrow morning, the air runs out. unfortunately, it's not an immediate process. the air will all you know, the oxygen levels will continue to deplete and people, you know, it's going to be a slow process. so the explorers club members are confident that there is still time. meanwhile a stunning new revelation about one of the five crew members, stockton rush, the ceo of oceangate, which operates the sub. russia's wife, is a descendent of a couple who died on the titanic. isidor and ida strauss. they were depicted in the 1997 movie about the disaster. the couple embracing in bed as the waters rise in that iconic scene in.

devices detected several banging sounds underwater yesterday and the day before. but a search turned up nothing. experts say those noises could have come from a variety of sources. breaking overnight, a deadly storm slamming northern texas. homes and businesses are destroyed in the town of matador after a reported tornado. at least three people have been killed. it comes just one week after another deadly tornado hit the texas panhandle. severe weather also hit colorado. golf ball sized hail pelted people at this concert at red rocks amphitheater. officials say 80 to 90 people were injured. seven were taken to the hospital early . two twisters were spotted in northeast colorado. meanwhile, extreme heat is being blamed for the death of a postal worker in dallas. the family of eugene gates says he passed out as the heat index approached 115 degrees. authorities in louisiana have also confirmed one heat related death there. the extreme heat in parts of texas will stick around through this weekend. we will check your forecast in just a few minutes.

turning to washington, in a rare move on capitol hill, the house erupted in chaos last night as republicans voted to censure a top democrat. abc's m wynne is here now with those details. m good morning. good morning, andrew. congressman adam schiff is embracing the rare public reprimand he received from house republicans last night on capitol hill. house members voted along party lines to censure congress. adam schiff for his leading role in investigating former president trump several years ago. it's a badge of honor, as roosevelt said in his time. sometimes you can judge a person by the enemies they make. it's a rare move. schiff is only the 25th house member to ever be censured and only the third in the last 20 years. his democratic colleagues repeatedly interrupting house speaker kevin mccarthy as he read the rules surrounding the censure, which amounts to a public reprimand. house will be in order. served on the house committee investigating the deadly january

of shooting five people, killing two at a washington state campground last weekend made his first court appearance yesterday . yes, ma'am. prosecutors say active duty soldier, 26 year old specialist james kelly, took hallucinogenic mushrooms before a music festival at the nearby gheorghe amphitheater. court documents say he began to believe the world was ending, then told his girlfriend he needed to go to his truck at the campground. and that's when police say he grabbed his gun and shot two people walking by, killing an engaged couple before shooting and wounding two more. everyone just was like very confused and trying to figure out what exactly happened. his girlfriend called 911, but investigators say he took the phone from her. then shot her twice in the legs when police later found him hiding in a nearby field. they say he was shooting randomly into a crowd and having our guys there very closely to the scene definitely minimized the already horrific

black bear that weighed 365 pounds. the bear was killed when bystanders opened fire. officials now confirm the bear was in good health with no sign of disease, as the attack was apparently unprovoked. we turn now to amazon facing a new lawsuit accused of tricking millions of customers into signing up for and keeping a more expensive subscription. new trouble for amazon. the ftc is suing the retail giant, accusing amazon of tricking and trapping customers with its prime membership, which costs 14.99 a month. what if it was this easy? the ftc claims amazon orchestrated a years long effort to enroll consumers without their consent, saying the site tricks consumers into enrolling in automatically renewing prime subscriptions. you would go on to amazon, see something that you wanted to purchase. there would also be an area where you would then be able to sign up for a prime membership, and it would kind of be cloudy as to which one you were clicking. and

then you were signed up. the ftc also accuses amazon of knowingly making it difficult for consumers to cancel their subscription, citing the so-called iliad, flo described as an intentionally complicated cancellation process, which the ftc compares to a labyrinth. these allegations, the latest in a string of lawsuits levied against amazon's $514 a year business. just last month, it agreed to pay $25 billion over allegations that its alexa devices were recording children and storing the information, though it denied violating the law. it also paid millions over privacy violations, ones involving ring doorbell cameras . as for this latest lawsuit, amazon says the ftc's claims are false on the facts and the law, adding, we make it clear and simple for customers to cancel their prime membership. the company says it looks forward to proving its case in court. coming up, teenagers not making the grade. what's behind the
