what a turn out. cornell: happy pride. it is all happening, pride weekend is in full swing across san francisco. the pride festival is wrapping up here. many people are in their cars now, but today people celebrated inclusiveness, unity and of , course pride. ♪ the rhythm of pride was loud and shining bright across civic center plaza, even though the sun was late showing up. >> great weather. way love when carl is around. -- we love when carl is around. cornell: anthony and friends from cheer us their moves. and what pride is about. >> i am out, i have a family. i have support in my network. pride is being proud of who you are. cornell: and feeling proud to be here. >> i transitioned when i was 16. and i am continuing my transition. i wanted to be happy more, more happy.

held a rally as abortion rights advocates were outside the supreme court. vice president harris was in south carolina. the state will sign a bill banning abortion after 12 weeks. >> it is clear where this is headed. extremist republicans in congress have proposed a ban abortion nationwide, nationwide. but i have news for them. we are not having that. dion: abortion is expected to be a critical part of the 2024 presidential election. on friday, former vice president mike pence urged republicans to support a 15 week federal abortion ban. governor gavin newsom released a statement today, marking the one-year reversal of roe v. wade. he said in part "here in , california the right to abortion care is embedded in our constitution. and we are leading a coalition of 22 governors to defend this right across our nation for

women." developing news now in russia's , war against ukraine come a turn of events. as our abc news reporter tells us the leader of the russian , wagner group is turning around after calling for a rebellion against the kremlin's defense minister. reporter: the leader of the mercenary group has reportedly ordered troops to retreat to their field camps in ukraine to avoid shedding russian blood. the announcement appearing to diffuse a crisis between him and russian military leaders. earlier today, troops on the streets in a southern russian city, the wagner group declaring a rebel against the military leadership. they have suspended events outdoors and events at educational institutions until july 1 in russia. putin called the action "a stab in the back of the country," warning it could lead to civil war in russia.

dion: the san jose mayor is making it clear that drugs will not be tolerated. during a press conference, he joined the police chief to promise a jail cell to drug dealers. he also wants to hold drug users accountable it will help get them in treatment. >> some people need to be arrested, some people needed treatment. we are the safest city in the bay area and we will keep it that way. we will send a message, if you come to deal drugs he will be arrested. we also wan

dion: in the north area baller is back hosting a basketball tournament on a newly renovated basketball court. darian trammell was a special guest. he helped lead san diego state to the finals of the ncaa

tournament. and today he joined with neighbors for games on a redone basketball and brand-new pickle ball courts. organizers say the upgrades are a chance to bring the community together. >> so giving folks the opportunity to exercise is highly important. the opportunity for everybody to exercise and be a community together, that is the beautiful part about sports and recreation. dion: the organizers say the blacktop there has not been touched in 35 years. the annual special olympics summer games are currently underway in santa clara. it features over 1000 athletes competing in swimming, tennis, track and field. it gives athletes with intellectual disabilities and opportunity to play, and it teaches them important lessons. >> the coaches are role models.

i look at the impact they make on the athletes' lives, they have been here for 30 or 40 years, building relationships. dion: athletes of any age can participate. the oldest is 80 years they are given awards at the end of the games. to be so active at 80, i know that is on your list. spencer: got many years to go. but i hope to be competing at that age. dion: you have been competing for the weather, also. spencer: we might win this competition. it is gusty out there. gusts up to 30 miles per hour and even higher. the temperature change shows not much change from yesterday, a couple degrees cooler in some spots, warmer in others.
