are shining bright this weekend in san francisco. one of the largest pride separations in the country is in full swing. good evening and think of retorting us. i am dion lim. it pride filled weekend peak with today's parade down market street. for many, the celebration continues tonight, and cornell barnard joins us live once again near san francisco sippers -- civic center where that party is going strong. >> happy pride to yo it has been a great day all around the city, the parade is over and it has been a nonstop party here in civic center and ever since then the party has been slowly wrapping up. speaking of the party, there is a chance to be seen and heard today. ♪ ♪

>> on market street for the 53rd year, thousands came out to be a part of it all. >> pride means fighting for the right that we always have our equal rights, to have families and be ourselves, and be happy in our own bodies. >> to expand square joy is really fun. >> to feel comfortable with yourself and knowing that you are not alone. >> it is more important than ever that we celebrate queer and trans joy, celebrate how far we have come, and really let them know that we are not going back. >> with queer under attack nationwide, many believe that unity and visibility is needed now more than ever. >> right now it feels so important that we get our moment of unbridled peer joy because this year so far has been so demoralizing. it weighs heavily on my heart sometimes, it really does.

so this is kind of an antidote to that. >> as in years past, the has stepped up staffing for pride, especially this year given the amount of anti-lgbtq rhetoric across the country. >> the messages unity and commuting. this is great. with every thing going on in our world today, it's great to get people together to celebrate each other. >> the mayor was getting her groove on and dismissing critics of her city. >> you can talk bad about our city but we are doing it big for the lgbt community, let's go sf pride. >> even corgis were all in for pride, it's time to live your best life and me who you are. >> happiness, love and be free. >> what is your message? >> sparkle harder. >> sparkle harder. i love it. and that is my new mantra, i think for the week.

we won't know any official numbers, probably until tomorrow, it is estimated one million people visited the city this weekend. it's been a great weekend, so far. life in san francisco, cornell barnard. dion: what a turnout and i will use that mark alt -- as my metric as well, sparkle harder. we also saw you speaking with the police chief, the police presence, the cruisers, have there been any issues for law enforcement to contend with? >> so far so good, knock on wood. we spoke with the police chief and that it has been a pride -- peaceful pride according to him. we have seen people going back and forth from here and the police chief has said that it has been an all hands on deck situation as in other pride festivals, all other officers working to keep everyone safe. i do have to say that i have covered pride for 11 years and

winter's massive snowfall here on the west coast, creating potentially hazardous situations for rafters and kayakers in local rivers. >> as many americans had outdoors this summer, officials in several states are issuing an urgent morning about powerful and dangerous rushing rivers after several drowning deaths across the west. 114-year-old girl in arizona drowned while wearing a life vest after her innertube capsized on the colorado river. >> mother nature is really creating a damaging and deadly situation. >> from texas to colorado, crews conducting thousands of water rescues and searching for people missing after being swept up by about -- away by swollen kurtz. the record snowfall is melting and coming down faster than anything previously seen. one expert says it could get worse. >> we will see i 90's and hundred degree temperatures where we will see a huge melt off take place. that is when we see more dangerous levels in the river.

>> california counties are taking precautions including banning recreation on rivers which flow from the sierra nevada. >> we are seeing a record number of rescues during -- on our rivers and waterways, hours with water teams. >> one of those rivers is in central, funny. it has heightened water levels, and snowmelt is expected to keep it at unprecedented levels. >> these are like floodwaters coming down the mountain. we are seeing class four, class five rapids up and down the recreational stretch which is not normal for this time of year. >> it woman was wearing vest in this case, but the water was high on the kern river, and this could last well into the fall. dion: much more coverage of today's sf pride parade coming up. we take a look at some of the highlights as that is parade

wasn't it filled up? dion: the weather is going to sparkle harder, too. >> not just yet, let's take a look at what is going on right now. gusting wind, really strong gusts up to 35 miles per hour in some spots and it is a bit cooler by a few degrees right now than yesterday at this time so the dreary days are returning as you see in this camera. clouds pushing out over the bay and then pushing and. hovering in the 60's around the bay area, and 57 degrees at half moon bay. we see clouds getting lower and darker at the golden gate, gusting there as well. temperature readings at this hour in the mid 60's at santa rosa, novato, fairfield, concord, 65 degrees, livermore. one more life view from emeryville, and we see some blue sky there but the clouds are becoming more widespread, cloudy, drizzly overnight and tomorrow morning, remaining cooler than average over the

next two days, but a significant warm up to begin midweek. for the overnight, look for the overnight merriam lane rigging and patches of drizzle to areas near the coast and bay. overnight, low temperatures will be generally in the mid 50's, fairly mild overnight, with the highest tomorrow at 50 degrees in half moon bay, 60 degrees in san francisco, mid-upper 60's around the bay shoreline, and in the areas of north, east bay and sulfate, maybe one or two locations will top out tomorrow. not much change on tuesday as we look at the seven-day forecast but you can see that the warming is beginning on thursday -- wednesday whether -- rather, but look at the jump in on thursday, 90 degrees inland, then friday saturday and sunday we can expect mid-upper 90's in the locations on -- resume, and summer has arrived. >> now abc 7 sports with chris

dion: the night on abc seven news at 11:00, lifeline for public transport in caliphate. first, nearly 400 pounds of fireworks were turned in during san mateo county's first-ever firework buyback program. the sheriff's office held an event and offered people up to $75 based on the weight of the fireworks. deputies say they collected some illegal and potentially deadly pyrotechnics including military grade smoke grenades and maybes, and aerial rockets with mortar style fireworks. >> there were already people waiting in line at 8:35. we want people to have a good fourth of july and enjoy it, we just ask that the community does so responsibly and safely.
