kumasi: millions of americans are dealing with a variety of severe weather. we have seen storms and lightning across the mid -- east and the midwest. the storms caused 1400 flights to be canceled. in the south, they are dealing with heat. americans are under excessive heat warnings. many could see temperatures in the triple digits. those temperatures are causing concerns about power grids. many in the region could see blackouts due to the surge in demand. drew: we are about to feel some of that later this week. it has been such a cool spring and cool started to the summer season. this weekend, the heat is going to feel intense for folks away from the coast. here is future weather today. it is present temperature staying below average. we will find increasing sunshine as the day goes on and

across the state. amanda del castillo you is live with the governor's latest plan to protect california from extreme spikes, especially into the july 4 holiday. reporter: many of us are familiar with the headaches tied to holiday travel. while i can't promise that won't be the case for fourth of july, i can confirm california is cracking down on price gouging at the gas pump. the governor's office is telling california's new law the nation. last week, california was no longer the state with the most expensive gas prices. this week, the new love brings new changes, including measures to expose price manipulation in real time by requiring daily reports on imports and exports.

why are 15-year-old boys in santa rosa carrying ghost guns? reggie: the chief hopes the information can help the department stop the violence. kumasi: the alameda county board of supervisors will discuss a proposal to punish sideshow spectators. this would make it illegal to watch a sideshow. anyone caught could face up to six months in jail. some experts say this violates the first amendment. they say the public has the right to watch, record, and report on public events even if they are illegal to inform the public. a group of lgbtq+ leaders, advocates, and allies are taking stock of the issues facing the community. rob bonta and equality california released a first-ever pride report. this report finds hate crimes against the community have gone up dramatically in california, up 29% from last year.
