j.r. stone is live in petaluma. are you safe? >> rm safe -- i am s i am around four miles from the location. i did drive through the area. there were bees everywhere outside my car. i did not get out. i do want to update you because i just talked with the chief a short while ago. the chief tells me the man stung by the bees is going to survive. that is the good news here. we spoke with witnesses a short time ago. this is what they had to say. >> when he got out of the car, the bees attacked him. he staggered back here. somebody -- care of the bees drove their car here to warn us he was being attacked to that was when we saw him staggering back here.

he collapsed here. >> you can even hear during the interview. the fire tells me the man's friend was performing lifesaving measures on the victim when they arrived. the cruise went to work and helped the men. he was flying his model airplane heas going to retrieve it and that is when9 or 90-year-old was attacked. the chief described what it looked like when his crew arrived. >> the bees when the crews arrived, the bees were on and around the head, neck and chest of the patient. they were able to shoo mos the bees away. the bees hovered around them as they were rendering care. >> a lot of people asking were these africanized killer bees? i spoke with an expert who told me those bees have not been found in sonoma county but without hitting a close-up look,

it is hard to tell one way or the other. there are dozens of hives in the area so the circumstances at this point do not point to that you will hear more from the expert tonight at 11:00. live in sonoma county. >> we hope that man is ok. >> richmond police shot and killed a man today while trying to serve an arrest warrant. it happened at point richmond on a street near sanderling island. lena howland is there. take us through what happened. >> it has been nearly nine hours since the shooting happened on what neighbor say is typically a quiet community. it is still a very active scene. we are told investigators are expected to be out here for several more hours as their investigation is still in its early stages. a spokesman for richmond police tells us they were looking for a

suspect accused of brandishing a firearm and possible discharge of the weapon sunday night in the point richmond area which happened after some type of altercation with a victim. a search warrant was issued for the home the suspect was believed to be living in on the 1200 block of sanderling island. they served that weren't around 9:00 this morning when police say they found the suspect inside the home armed with a firearm. he was shot and killed by police inside who said they feared for their lives. we are told more than one officer fired their weapon but it is unclear how many officers. >> during the service of the search warrant, they did encounter a subject armed with a firearm inside the residence. an officer involved shooting did occur. unfortunately the suspect was pronounced seized at the scene from his injuries. >> i did not hear anything as far as a gunshot. when i was in the front of the house upstairs i could hear the truck so i looked out. that is when they saw -- when i

saw the ambulance and fire truck pull in. >> that neighbor who we heard from believes it was a mother and son living in this home but they kept to themselves. the contra costa county district attorney's office will now be conducting a joint investigation with the richmond police department's homicide unit. all officers involved even though it is still unclear how many have been paste on paid administrative leave during the investigation. while no officers were hurt, it is unclear if the suspect fired his weapon. >> thanks, lena. a man accused of a road rage shooting in oakland faces several charges for being a felon in possession of ammunition. the 43-year-old is accused of shooting toward another driver causing the other car to crash near keller avenue on may 25. the chp had this shut down 580. he was taken into custody that

day. he faces a long list of state charges in the shooting in addition to the federal charge. >> crews made quick work of a brush fire in napa. cal fire posted this video showing firefighter still on the scene on capella valley road doing some up up work. the fire burned 1.3 acres. calfire is alerting us fire danger levels will ramp up later this week because of the warmer and drier air heading our way. >> this week and parts of the bay area are going to see the hottest temperatures so far this year. >> sandhya patel is tracking the warm up. >> it is going to be a shock to the system. we have been so used to below average temperatures most of this month. that may show you what you can expect to all inland areas going under a heat advisory. it begins at 11:00 a.m. friday and it will run until 11:00 p.m. sunday. high temperatures low 90's tender 105 degrees bringing an increased risk of heat

illnesses. let me show you the temperatures today. look what is happening by friday. numbers are going to spike. when you go from 78 in santa rosa, 15 degrees warmer. oakland, you will notice going up 14 degrees. conquered from 79 to 98. 24 warmer in livermore. as we go hour-by-hour, mild inland. as we head toward tomorrow morning, drizzle and fog to start the day. by the early afternoon, and high temperatures are soaring into the low 90's and that is not the hottest day. back with a full look at the holiday we can forecast coming up. holiday, hospitals get flooded with patients usually from injuries because of fireworks. but that is not the only reason. dustin dorsey spoke with local officials about their warning. >> the sound of

♪ >> crews are working to move people back into an apartment complex that caught fire yesterday. the entire building had to be red tagged displacing about 160 residents. building inspectors are trying to make 25 out of the 42 units available to people. eight to 10 apartments will remain closed off because of fire and water damage. the city of san carlos is banning high risk bio labs. people living there are worried about them.

ryan curry explains what these bio labs do and why people are so concerned about them. >> covid-19 is no longer a severe threat. now san carlos residents want their city to do its part to prevent a future pandemic. the city approved an ordinance banning companies and developers from building new high-risk labs. the type of labs that do experiments on deadly diseases. >> here on the peninsula which is subject to earthquakes, sea level rise, a high density area not that far from residential neighborhoods. if anything should go wrong without laboratory, it could be a dangerous situation. >> david is one of the residents who voiced their concern to the city council this week. he says he and other started seeing bio labs built along the peninsula. he says residents did research and learn some of the labs could potentially be high risk all you need >> to do is have one or two people nearby to breed that in. get infected and as we know from covid, one person becomes two,

becomes five. >> the cdc ring spiral labs on four different levels. of a one poses little to no risk. scientists are not experiment in a pathogen's. level two poses a moderate risk. a scientist studying pathogen such as influence and salmonella. level 3 is more severe. scientists study diseases such as hiv, covid-19 and the plague. of a four is the most interest level. scientists study life-threatening diseases such as ebola and smallpox. the same, city council voted to ban three and four. residents tell me they don't want all biotech labs band. just the ones that would pose a high health risk. the mayor tells me despite the new ordinance, he does not think it would limit any sort of economic growth. >> we have couple labs of research projects that are coming in. two development projects we will look at in august.
