at our forecast and if we are going to get any relief anytime soon. >> it did sizzle today this was the hottest day of the year so far here in the bay area. let me give you a look at some of today's high temperatures before we talk about how long it lasts. 108 in fairfield, 10 seven livermore. concord 105. numerous 100° plus readings were measured in our inland areas and numerous 90's and other locations and around the bay shoreline we had some upper 80's to about 91 in fremont. it was pretty hot today. even now it is still quite warm nearly 90° now after 11 p.m.. 80 in livermore 75 in fairfield so this he is going to hold on. we still have a heat advisory in effect until 11:00 tomorrow night for the entire bay area except locations along the coastline and along the bay shoreline. heat related illnesses are more like under these kinds of intense hot conditions. if you are looking for some

temperatures expected tomorrow bart riders should expect a possible slowdown. today's heat triggered in-service alert, trains had to run at slower speeds between several stations through the evening. people are encouraged to add 10 minutes to their planned travel time. in the north bay people flocked to the russian river are looking to cool off, fire danger is a big concern in weather like this. firefighters have found themselves busy in the past 24 hours. cornell barnard tells us they are bracing for an active summer season. >> small vegetation fire impacted to outbuilding structures. >> cal fire says the buildings on this cotati ranch on west sierra avenue were saved from a fast-moving grass fire which broke out saturday on one of the hottest days of the year. the fire was stopped at 1 acre. >> it is hot, dry, there are a lot of people out. be careful, try to make good decisions, mow early. >> on friday cruise battleground -- flames on the ground putting

out this 24 acre grass fire in petaluma. firefighters say they are bracing for the heat and ready for fire season. >> we went from a very cool period to immediately warm period, as the temperatures are in the 90's up to 100. given the crews acclimated and keeping them hydrated. >> the cool water of the russian river was too good to pass up on a day when temperatures were sizzling, hundreds of families made the trip to memorial beach for some relief. >> this is a perfect time we are gearing up into the near hundreds and it is exciting, especially for all the families here locally and from the bay area. >> this popular swimming spot is reopening for the first time in four years, the pandemic and drought prevented the summertime dam from being built here but now it is back just in time for the july 4 weekend. >> it feels nice, we have been waiting forever for the hot weather to come so it is perfect.

seeing blood. if we learn anything more we will bring you an update leader on in this newscast. a 71-year-old man is recovering after being shot twice during an atteted robbery in san francisco's cow hollow neighborhood. police say they responded to the scene just aer midnigh today on fillmore in filbert street's, o people approach the man and tried to rob him then shot him. they escaped, supervisor catherine stefani says the man was shot twice and will survive. more migrants from texas have arrived in los angeles, 41 asylum-seekers arrived at this afternoon by bus. they were welcomed by a network of nonprofit faith and immigrant rights groups. this is the second bus to arrive from the texas mexico border after texas governor greg abbott announced los angeles as the latest democrat run city where his state will bus migrants. one organizer said it is likely they will be in limbo for a while. >> our immigration court system

is incredibly backlogged in los angeles there is nearly 100,000 open cases and because of that court dates can be pushed out their first court date can be several months from now. >> the migrants were recently paroled by border patrol agent voluntarily boarded the bus in brownsville texas. ellie mayor karen bass says they learned about the bus on friday and immediately began coordinating to assist the migrants upon their arrival. drivers will see higher prices at the pump starting today, california's gas tax climbed 8% or about four cents, that increase bumps the tax to about over $.57. california has the second-highest gas prices in the country, coming second to washington. that gas tax increase comes courtesy two sp1 the 20 state law that increases california's gas tax every year. the money is used to raise more than $52 billion for transportation improvements and maintenance over 10 years.

the ruling by the court's conservative majority centered around admission policies at harvard and the university of north carolina. it rejected president biden's plan to wipe out more than $400 million in college loan debt. the high court sided with the colorado web designer who refused to make websites for same-sex weddings. san francisco's top attorney and others are sounding the alarm over concerns same-sex marriage could be next. there was a strongly worded op-ed in the chronicle and as abc seven news reporter tara campbell learned we could see something on the ballot next year. >> we were very concerned that the court could be going the wrong way and unfortunately it turned out that they did with a decision that is consistent -- incredibly disturbing. >> san francisco city attorney is not mincing words with the supreme court peeling back lgbtq+ protections. friday ruling in favor of a christian website designer in colorado. >> really the first time the supreme court has permitted

right now the wind is calm which means no cooling onshore flow we could use one right now because the 24 hour temperature change shows that much of the bay area is anywhere from seven to 13 degrees warmer right now than at this time last night. today's heat is still holding on. here is the view from the exploratorium camera looking back at the san francisco skyline, 62 in the city. oakland 67 mid to upper 70's in mountain view and san jose 69 in palo alto and 52 at half bay. looking back toward san francisco from emeryville, 64 at novato low 70's at santa rosa and napa 75 fairfield concord 78 and 80 in livermore. as we look across the embarcadero take a look at our forecast headlines, very thin marine layer tonight with virtually no cooling effect. heat persists tomorrow with many inland locations expected to have triple digit temperature readings and it will be a much cooler pattern developing for the fourth of july. we have some other warmth to

contend with before then, a heat advisory remains in effect until 11:00 tomorrow night for all of the bay area except the immediate shoreline and coast. under these conditions heat related illnesses are possible, limit your exposure to the heat in the sun. we have a beach hazard statement in effect until 11:00 tomorrow night, not because of elevated waves or rip currents but because of colder than normal sea surface temperatures are jumping into the cold water can produce cold water shock. her that in mind. let's talk about the forecast animation overnight, you can see there is virtually no marine level -- layer of any consequence. what does develop is some offshore drizzle, it is not likely to hit land. on we go to overnight lows, clear skies with mid to upper 50's to low 60's. a mild overnight, highs tomorrow numerous locations will be in the upper 90's to low 100s. some upper 80's around the bay shoreline but skip ahead to monday, the cooldown begins with
