when we can expect a cool down across the bay area as a heat advisory is still in effect. good morning, it is sunday, july 2. i want to get started with the weather because that has been the big story of the weekend. francis, i know super hot. is today going to be as hot? >> not quite as hot, turning it down just a touch. a live shot of the golden gate bridge were we had some fog earlier this morning that is already mixed out, but you can still see some offense slivers of clouds moving into the golden gate bridge or across the bridge. another hot day, warm inland already in the next hour. temperatures hitting the low 80's in some spots. at the coast, 60's, almost all day. by noon, clouds will still linger at the coast and then this afternoon, but it will still be hot inland, near 100 degrees for some areas.

leading the investigation. in san francisco's chinatown, one man was hurt in the shooting that happened on grand avenue near jackson street around 10:00 last night. when they arrived, police found the 33-year-old male victim. he was taken to hospital with wounds that are not life-threatening. no arrests have been made. survivors network of those abused by -- will hold a news conference today about the diocese of oakland. child sexual abuse and is currently in ministry in --. the priest has denied the charges and the diocese says an internal investigation revealed the allegations were not credible. 330 lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse. the news conference is scheduled

former president donald trump tried to pressure arizona's governor to overturn the state 2020 presidential results. multiple sources tell abc news that trump also asked mike pence to pressure governor doug ducey defined fraudulent votes. hence allegedly did call with that request after the election, but doug ducey did not follow the orders. trump narrowly lost arizona to president joe biden in 2020. now to a new health alert on malaria. the cdc issuing an advisory after five cases of local transmission reported in the u.s. for the first time in 20 years. four cases of the mosquito -borne disease were detected in florida, one in texas. a national guardsmen tells abc news he became patient zero in texas after working on the rio grande river back in early may. >> darted having fever and vomiting and that was the first time i went to the hospital.

gloria: the fourth of july is right around the corner and authorities are preparing to fight the annual battle against illegal fireworks. >> with a touch of just one sparkler, flames burst into the air within seconds, and minutes later, the flames have already raced across the hill. >> it spreads beyond what you can control with a garden hose at your house or what you can control with a bucket. >> holding this controlled demonstration to warn everyone that even though it is considered safe like sparklers are illegal. >> we have a bumper crop of vegetation that is drying out and ready to burn. it is not worth the risk. they are dangerous and uncontrollable and in these weather conditions, they are

irresponsible. >> and from third year they are relying on the residentss to report illegal fireworks. but here in, the department says they did not issue a single citation for illegal fireworks last year the fourth of july. instead, police say they resources were shifted to address heavy illegal sideshow activity that night. we asked oakland mayor what the city's plan is for enforcement this year. >> for anybody even thinking about setting up illegal fireworks, our officers really out confiscating not just fireworks also making arrests if needed. >> test for alameda county, the crackdown on fireworks has already begun. the sheriff's office seizing nearly 300 pounds of fireworks earlier this week, while conducting compliance checks which resulted in 13 searches. >> that's good because our

to head to the beach to beat the heat. if you do, just be aware, water temperatures are colder than normal, so people could experience some cold water shot and the beaches will be pretty crowded. and in the north bay especially this evening there is a coastal flood advisory all the way through early wednesday morning. the greatest risk is actually from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. also the lows tonight will be in the 50's to mid 60's. it's going to be mildly and in some spots but we could see more cloud cover, even some drizzle expected, maybe closer to the beaches. san francisco, the overnight low will be 55. a nice little break from some of the heat. high temperatures in san jose are normally at 81 degrees this time of year, so we are more than 10 degrees above average for today. yesterday was 94.
