getting ready to light up the san francisco sky. >> it's like christmas for santa claus. it's the busy day. >> pyro spectaculars gave us a behind-the-scenes look into the prep work leading up to the biggest fourth of july show in northern california. >> inside of the little pellets that we call stars and those stars is what makes the pretty colors, they make the flowers in the sky. >> considering last year the fog made it basically impossible to see fireworks, tonight they have a different strategy. >> we decided this year we would start the display at the deck. we have filled in the lower level that wasn't filled in last year. the show will still go up to 12 or 1500 feet, the upper level, but there will be things to see down in the lower level two. >> carolyn and her family are praying for no fog. they made the trip from canada

>> the fourth of july celebration in the south, they recognize the floral and agricultural heritage. it strives to uplift and the multicultural communities. roses are becoming a theme for san jose with the city holding its first carnival back in 1896. >> the birth of american independence brought people together at the largest madera parade. if the day of fun and celebration included post-parade festivities at the town park. the festival featured food booths, kids and showcasing work from local craftsmen. >> organizers say this is the largest fourth of july parade in all of north or in california and brings in participating groups from across the state to redwood city. each entry is invited and screamed -- screened by a committee. actor linda card alley was the parades gregg marshall.

a spell at santa rosa junior college. he was last seen hiking yosemite national park, which issued an alert for anyone hiking in that area to call part -- part dispatch. >> highway patrol is on the lookout for a humvee that was stolen. somebody took the green humvee sometime after 10:00 last night. they made their getaway by ramming through the gates. witnesses saw it making its way to the coast. authorities say there were no munitions or weapons in the humvee, which did not have license plates. >> police are investigating a fire in san francisco at the indian consulate as possible arson. fire was started at the front door over the weekend. firefighters found smoldering debris on the sidewalk in front door, which caused exterior damage to the building. officials are still investigating and any attempt to vandalism or arson against u.s.

diplomatic facilities is a criminal offense -- criminal offense. >> the anniversary of sutro tower. the power was turned on july 4, 1973, 16 years after it was first proposed. that tower was proposed by our predecessors in 1957. while it initially faced opposition from residents, it is now an iconic part of the city skyline. the anniversary is being honored with a laser light display at sutro tower. the lights of the art installation will turn on tonight at sunset and you will see it across the city. this is what it looked like last night. this was the view from there. we will see if the weather cooperates. we are looking towards what is hard to make out with the marine layer that spencer was talking about. tim johns gives us an inside look at the project and others in store for the project. >> no one has ever done this before. >> look up sutro tower and you

will be greeted with something that looks like this. a new art installation of laser celebrating the tower's 50th anniversary. >> is a bit of an icon in san francisco. it's one of the few things that can be seen from every point. >> it will run from tuesday through saturday and is put on by local nonprofit illuminate their the same group that runs the leaders down market street during pride >> weekend. >>the plan was to run 12 lights around the base of the tower, shooting through the center of the tower and up. ask the sutro tower display is one of several they have planned for the city. they want to do installations at coit tower at grace cathedral. >> will be a spectacular summer in san francisco. >> some of those plans have run into problems. coit tower, is meant to run july 14 through the 16th but hasn't been approved by the two

and most bay area locations and at this time yesterday. four degrees cooler in san francisco and five degrees cooler in many inland locations. the view from the rooftop camera looking across the breezy embarcadero. blue sky for those of us who want to see fireworks tonight. 67 in oakland. 76 in san jose, 71 in palo alto and half moon bay. looking at this direction, not so encouraging. at the golden gate we have low clouds pushing through the golden gate reaching out over the bay. other temperature readings, 72 in santa rosa, napa, 71. low to mid 80's at fairfield, concord and livermore. the emeryville camera looking back toward san francisco has clouds building off in the distance. forecast headlines with mixed viewing conditions for the fireworks. not so clear the coast. cooler afternoons will follow

and it will warm up at the beginning of next week. let's take a look at our fireworks forecast. low clouds will be developing late afternoon into the early evening hours. 9:00 tonight as we approach the fireworks, they will be areas of low clouds and fog's in san francisco. just a question of how dense and how deep those clouds will be. viewing conditions, the coast and bay, will be good. in san francisco, we have to wait and see. temperature ranges are comfortable for mid-50's at the coast admit 60's inland. overnight low temperatures in the mid-50's. highs will range from 59 a half moon bay. opening right around the bay shoreline, most locations are in the 70's tomorrow. inland areas, upper 70's in many spots and low to mid 80's in places like antioch of livermore

and on we go to the accuweather 7-day forecast. we have seven mainly sunny days coming our way and we are in a cooling trend all the way through saturday. although skies will be mainly clear. so storm up and tuesday of last week in the mid-90's and mid to upper 70's. we're still waiting as the minutes tick off the clock to see how dense a coastal fog will be. >> professional it sounds like you're trending towards deep and dense, where would you go in the sea to get a good view of the fireworks? >> work around the vote, go east across the bay. could go north across the golden aid. some areas will be foggy, but you can get up of corte madera. i have a pretty good view.
