the finishing touches are underway as crews get ready for the fireworks are along san francisco's waterfront. happy fourth of july. i am dion lim. question i, we have team coverage tracking the rain and celebrations all across the bay area. quick spencer christian is tracking the weather and will you be able to see those fireworks? >> we will begin with luz pena his life where crews are getting ready for the biggest fourth of july show in northern california. >> is not so exciting? that our technicians are still getting those final touches ready for tonight's show. the only thing we can control is the weather. >> it is the calm before the show. the team behind it are getting ready to line up -- light at the san francisco sky. >> it is a busy day.

>> this gives us a behind-the-scenes look into the lead up to the biggest fourth of july show in northern california. >> these are the little pellets we call stars and that is what makes the pretty colors in the sky. >> the fog made it basically impossible to see fireworks last year. tonight they have a different strategy. >> we decided this year we would start the display -- we have filled in the lower level that was not filled in last year. the show will still go up to well over 1500 feet, the upper level but there will be things to see down at the lower level. >> they are praying for no fog. this family made the trip from canada to san francisco especially tonight. >> it was one of my see independence day in america with the americans.

we will be fine fireworks. we have patchy and low clouds but take a look here. we will have a countable range after 9:00 p.m.. 60's in land out of the west, 10 or 20 miles per hour. areas of fog near the coastal area. you can see that in land area location away from the coastal bay. we will have great viewing conditions. in san francisco it will be iffy because we will have fog developing at 9:00. this is pushing across the bay to oakland. we don't know how dense or widespread it will be. will be spectacular. dan and jan?

>> many people celebrate the fourth of july by the close today, half moon bay and ann spacex -- pacific are packed with people going to parades. ryan curry has the story. california coast, hundreds came out to half moon bay for the annual fourth of july celebrations. >> doing good, a day. wearing jeans which i love. able to check out what is going on with the horses and the rest of the parade. >> it was a full small-town parade complete with multiple fire departments and a dancing pumpkin mascot. it even featured a beer child when it was still early in the morning but hey it is a holiday. >> honestly, we will just watch the parades and they will have a barbecue. on the fourth of this community is as strong as

ryan curry, abc 7 news. >> independence day is always a big celebration. organizers of the annual parade say it is the longest in the nation. >> we come together to celebrate our heritage and everything we have today to share it with others. >> the parade is a source of deep pride for the country. the parade route is 3.3 miles and has more than 170 entries. as is tradition, hundreds of lawn chairs lined graham street overnight. get a good viewing spot along the route. >> the stars and stripes were celebrating all across the bay area today. parades were held in several other cities including martinez and san jose. them.

quick san francisco police believe the fire here could be arson. claims ignited just after 1:45 early sunday morning. firefighters saw smoldering debris on the sidewalk. that caused exterior damage to the builders. officials say they are still investigating and any attempt at vandalism or ocean is a criminal offense. >> if you need a reminder about how dangerous fireworks can be, here is one. police say a fire that destroyed home sunday was sparked by illegal fireworks ignited from a house nearby.

no rest have been made by a search warrant ledge of fireworks in home a block away from the one that was destroyed. the neighbor said she heard fireworks going off and i noticed something was wrong. >> i realized there was ash, there were sparks flying across the backyard that should not have been there. step out into the backyard and this tree is just totally engulfed. >> one home was destroyed, there was fire damage to three nearby properties. they already cited a number of people for illegal fireworks over the last few days, leading up to today, july 4. they only allow safe and sane fireworks. >> you really have to leave it to the professionals. >> especially in wildfire country. >> having a jump to a nearby home? frightening. >> looking at the fireworks show, the official fireworks show if you can see them.

temperatures low 70's as santa rosa. 79 concord. 80 in fairfield and livermore. you can see why we are concerned about low cloud stacking pushing out over parts of san francisco. the forecast headlines are these, we will have mixed viewing conditions, clear skies and land. for the next few days and then warming up again beginning next week. here is the fireworks forecast starting at 9:00, tonight. you can see there will be some fog here in san francisco region locally here. it was not very dense or very thick. decent conditions here in san francisco. locations away from the coast here. mainly clear skies. temperatures a bit more comfortable.
