illegal fireworks displays happening across the bay area, keeping firefighters and police busy throughout the night. >> it wasn't all illegal fireworks. many families took off work and taking in the festivities at parades, festivals and the actual sanctioned fireworks shows across the area. >> i will start the check of our forecast withdrew. drew: temperatures are to wyk -- with drew. drew: temperatures are typical for this time of year. the marine layer is causing some drizzle along the coastline. not everybody is seeing this fog right now. temperature wise we are sitting in the 50's, if not the low 60's at this hour. you are at 58 in fremont. napa the warm spot, so to speak if you want to call it that.

at 9:00 a.m. we are still seeing a lot of cloud cover. it pulls back to the coastline for those clouds this afternoon. sunshine away from the coast end temperatures barely in the 80's around the bay shoreline. we will take a close look at these temperatures in a few minutes. >> fog, not really on the gold gate bridge as drew was mentioning. no visibility issues as you make away southbound on 101. you will find some drizzle though, and you will need your windshield wipers. elsewhere, we take you to emeryville and it is starting to fill in eastbound and westbound. at buchanan we had a report of an accident, but for now things are moving nicely as you make your way towards the macarthur maze. if the bay bridge is your destination it is looking good there too.

our early morning commuters are up and at 'em. >> it was a not so silent tonight for many neighborhoods as illegal fireworks shows continued into the early morning. in the east bay illegal fireworks are being blamed for dozens of fires overnight. >> good morning. dozens of fires all around the east bay, almost all four corners of the bay had their own neighborhood light shows even when we were driving around the east bay, we noticed some pockets of neighborhood fireworks going off in the early hours of the morning. this is prompting safety concerns. this grass fire in walnut creek started around 10:00 p.m. at the current location where we are at. it did not prompt evacuation orders. this was the perspective from the oakland hills, all of those unsanctioned fireworks exploding across the east bay.

this went on for hours before the sunset last night. it was not just one location but several where people were lighting off fireworks in the middle of the streets. berkeley closed grizzly peak due to fire concerns yesterday. emergency crews stay there posted to keep people from entering. that has now reopened. contra costa fire responded to 58 fires overnight. 50 of them they believe were caused by fireworks. one person was critically injured in one of those incidents so, a lot of safety concerns from these overnight fireworks. we are live in the east bay. kumasi: thank you. sky 7 gave us a perfect view of some of the fireworks across the bay area last night. not all of them were against the law. in san francisco thousands packed into the city's waterfront and at aquatic park.

it is windy up and over the altamont, as well as a 40 minute drive westbound on i-80 into dublin. kumasi:kumasi: the supreme court decision to student debt forgiveness plan could impact the economy. people are rushing to the san francisco conservatory of flowers for a rare experience. golden garden announced that scarlett the corpse flower has bloomed. the flower can grow up to 8 feet tall. it can produce a not so pleasant smell. the flowers population has declined by 50% in the last 150 years so plants like scarlett only bloom every 3 to 5 years. our cameras were there when bloomed back in 2018.

during a soccer match at levi's stadium. police are asking for your help finding at least one suspect involved in that incident. gloria rodriguez joins us with the latest. >> the victim says he is lucky to be alive and that his injuries could have been much worse. santa clara polices says a knife was used in the attack but they don't know how it made it into the stadium through metal detectors. officers are closely looking at this fan fight video, and others recorded -- that others recorded during a mexico-qatar soccer match. leal suffered from serious wounds. he is recovering in the hospital. he says he is originally from mexico, lives in san jose, and works in construction. he says he was leaving when people started throwing here. a colleague of his was attacked, and it was everyone against everyone. leal says he was stabbed below

this morning police and washington dc are investigating another mass shooting over the holiday weekend. they say nine people were injured overnight when someone drove up to a july 4 celebration and started to shoot. this comes as officials in other cities look for clues in separate mass shootings. here is justin finch. >> from fort worth to baltimore frustration and grief after gunfire ripped through communities and climbed lives. >> this country needs to re-examine its conscience and find out how to get guns out of dangerous people's hands. in philadelphia -- >> in philadelphia shooter -- a gunman in a vest opened fire, injuring two boys.

police are investigating after 3 people were killed and eight others hurt in a shooting at a neighborhood festival. in wichita, kansas at least seven people suffered gunshot wounds and two others were trampled at a mass shooting at a nightclub. investigators also continue search for answers and baltimore were multiple gunman are believed to have opened fire at a block party. 28 shot, at least two killed. speaking to a group of educators on the fourth of july, president joe biden urged congressional republicans to pass gun safety reform to protect the nation's schools and communities. >> banning assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, extensive background checks they are part of the answer. >> in a statement the president doubled down on his call for tougher gun laws, and recognized illinois's ban on assault weapons after 10 people were

it looks really cool. we are going to take you from this joy to this nightmare. a roller coaster at a fair in wisconsin got stuck. 8 passengers got stuck mid and they had to hang upside down for hours including 7 kids. authorities say this stopped because of a mechanical failure, even though the ride was recently inspected by the state. the first person was freed about 2 hours after emergency crews were dispatched and that was more than 3 hours after the ride stalled. >> a lot of people were trying to figure out crew trying to figure out what was going on, what is happening. all of a sudden the ambulances are showing up. kumasi: to release the harnesses, but it released every harnesses, not

the individual harness, so if they had that button, people could have been injured or even died. the fire department also did not have the equipment capable of making the rescue, so they had to call another departments in the area. >> our department has never experienced a situation like we did yesterday. kumasi: everybody individually -- everybody eventually made it to the ground. do you recognize that ride? the ring of fire used to scare me. it would just go back and forth like this. the ring of fire really did scare me. drew: i was at the fair recently, one of our local ones. i will absolutely not be going on that ride, but thank you. kumasi: -- drew: that is my fear, julian: inside of my nightmares.
