our reporters in the east bay where people are now being blamed for dozens of fires. reporter: almost all four corners of the bay area had to deal with their own issues of neighborhood fireworks, even us when we are driving to this life location. in the early morning hours, they were pockets of fireworks still going off which is romping safety concerns. contra costa fire release this video happening along a creek. this is the location we are currently at. it did not prompt any evacuations but got close to some home. this is video from oakland hills where you can see many unsanctioned fireworks across the section of the east bay. this went on for hours last night before the sun set. then in san crazy video in the mission district. several people were lighting fireworks in the middle of the

street. in berkeley, they closed grizzly peak due to firework concerns. that has now reopened. in contra costa county, contra costa fire says they responded overnight to 58 calls. they believed 50 were firework related. one person is in the hospital with a serious injury. we will keep you posted on any more development ryan curry, abc7news. kumasi: knew this morning, contra costa county firefighters are investigating the cause of this two alarm fire in antioch. a man in the home woke up to crackling sounds, saw the flames, and left the house along with the dogs. there is no word on how much damage it caused.

julian: fireworks across the bay area last night. some were illegal but not all of them. thousands packed to the city's waterfront along the embarcadero and aquatic front. [fireworks] it is a family tradition for some. for olivia and her family, they came from sweden for a new experience. >> it is exciting. we were like, we do want to stay here for the fourth of july. julian: they got the full experience. the foggy conditions did not stop the celebrations. event organizers designed to show to happen at a multitude of levels in the sky for people to see despite the cloudy conditions. kumasi: in the south bay, skies were clear over discovery meadow in san jose. the sound of music and laughter filled the park as families and friends joined. kids said they liked the family

kumasi: it appears the world h broken two records for the highest days ever recorded this week. the first was monday when the u.s. national centers for environmental protection recorded the average overture on earth at 62 .6 degrees fahrenheit.

julian: new developme san francisco's chinatown. the chinatown merchants association is facing more challenges. once it comes to fixing the iconic red lanterns. according to examiners, the lanterns could cost more than double of the gofundme campaign raised in march. they also say brackets and other

parts of the lanterns will need to be replaced. people are rushing to the san francisco conservatory of flowers for a rare experience. the golden garden announced on their twitter monday night that scarlett, the corpse flower, is in bloom. it can grow up to eight feet tall and produce a not so pleasant smell. the flower population has declined by 50% over the past 150 years. it only blooms every three to five years so this is rare. our cameras were there in 2018 when it bloomed. >> it can spell like stinky tuna and mix that with moldy cheese and jim socks. julian: looking for, they have you covered. the blooming will only last approximately three tonight so you have to check it out today if you want the full cheesy, jim socks experience.

faa approval to test drive or test fly their cars. kumasi: i am intrigued. good morning. wednesday, july 5. julian: we appreciate you waking up with us. drew: yesterday was pleasant. today is cooler. starting out in the fifth, typical this time of the year with the light layer. basically all you need to step out the door. it is quite cloudy with our marine layer searching inland. we start out with the morning cloud cover pulling back to the coastline. it gets breezy and the onshore flow is gusting around 20 to 30 miles per hour which will help keep temperatures below average by around two to 80 that's check with sue hall for how the traffic is doing. sue: we are going back to the golden gate bridge.

gloria: the victim says he is lucky to be alive and his injuries could have been much worse. santa clara police say a knife was used in the attack that they don't know how it made it into the stadium through the metal detectors. officers are closely looking at this video and others with one of last sunday night at levi's stadium during an mexico soccer match. a manual ds suffered from serious wounds and is recovering in the -- emmanuel suffered serious wounds of his recovery in the hospital. he says he was leaving when people began throwing beer. he says his colleague was attacked and it was everyone against everyone. he says he was stabbed below his neck above his heart. >> he could have hit me lower or

cars and others were seen standing around his fire. the flames were put out when firefighters arrived. >> fourth of july is always busy for us. tonight, i believe we ran around 50 to fires and 50 were fireworks related. kumasi: officers say the sideshow lasted around a hour and 20 minutes before police arrived. julian: fireworks are being blamed for sparking this brush fire in antioch that happened around 10:00 last night, one of the many fires across contra costa county. officials say the overwhelming majority of the calls were sparked by illegal fireworks. ryan curry's in the east bay with the latest so what was a busy night for them. ryan: a very busy night them. contra costa fire said they had 58 calls for fires overnight and they believe 50 were fireworks

related, fronting safety concerns. they said one of those had at least one injury related to it so a lot of biz work for first responders -- of busy work for first responders. julian: ryan curry's reports but he was telling us about the large number of fires that were believed to have been started by illegal fireworks across the east bay. contra costa county responded to multiple fireworks -- 52 fires, 50 of which were believed to because by firefighter -- fireworks. kumasi: on ultima expressway near harry road, you can see the fire in the median. another brush fire popped up at bailey and santa teresa. there is no word if there was any damage or injuries but --

this year. we have some drizzle close to the coast. it will be gradual over the next several hours, peaking in the 70's and 80's in our warmest spots away from the coast. still patchy fog over the city and parts of the east bay. but a lot of sunshine in the north bay, inland east day, and south bay. as we head into the afternoon, we can see temperatures peaking around 4:00 p.m. if you 80's on the board. around the big shoreline, mainly 60's and low 70's. 62 in the city with partly cummings -- with partly cloudy skies. 79 in san jose. therefore, antioch and livermore in low to mid 80's. we are more than 10 degrees below average in some spots near the end of the week. but the weekend, a little bit of a warm up.

julian: san francisco police are investigating a fire at the consulate of india. flames started after 1:45 sunday morning, damaging the front door of the building and entryway. authorities are looking at evidence from numerous sources. >> the san francisco fire department is aware of a deal being circulated on social media. we are not able to get from the credibility of the video at this time, but it is something our investigators will be looking at. julian: any person who attempts vandalism or arson against a u.s. diplomatic building can face criminal charges. kumasi: a roller coaster and nightmare when eight passengers got stuck mid ride hanging
