to drive across bridges. they passed a bill to raise tolls. drivers now pay seven dollars at the bay bridge toll plaza. the bill would raise that to $8.5 by january of 2024. the bill also means tolls will go up in january. those would increase december of 2028. the council is opposing this bill. >> raising tolls ove again every time the transit agencies say they are short of money is ful >> he sat make the systems safer.

>> joe bina is tracking the latest from the live desk. what is the response? >> the u.s. is calling for russia to cease what it calls reckless behavior, accusing iran of trying to seize commercial oil tankers. the air force has released this video saying it shows russian fighter jets flying dangerously close to u.s. drones over syria. three drones were conducting a mission against isis targets when three russian aircraft began harassing the drones, dropping multiple parachute flares in front of them, forcing them to make a base -- make evasive maneuvers. >> there have been dozens of these encounters. in the past, they would notify the u.s., but not anymore. >> another international incident. the u.s. navy says it stopped irani and from seizing two oil

tankers. iran denies there was any attempt to seize them. we will continue to follow that. >> we are hearing from the man who tried to save a woman after she was attacked in bayview. the woman died yesterday. police say the 63-year-old woman was pushed to the ground from behind around 6:40 p.m. monday. you can see this area. dion limbs spoke with an auto mechanic in the neighborhood. he says he wanted to run after the suspect and noticed a woman on the ground bleeding from her head. >> she was not responsive but still breathing. her pulse was low. it was heartbreaking. i thought she would live. >> he went on to say the woman's husband did not know what to do so he called 911. no arrests have been made.

>> police say a man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing at a soccer match at levi stadium. investigatorsked th to a home in sacramento where he was arrested tuesday. he facing attempted murder charges. police are investigating how he got the knife into the stadium. hayward police are investigating an unprecedented amount of violence on july 4. four people were shot and at least four separate shootings. a man near happened said there were people out celebrating with different groups in the street all night. >> everybody was having a good time. fireworks shooting off. then things started flying. running, dodging.

>> investigators do not think these incidents are related. police say they have made two arrests so far. >> the public. they say they believe he slipped and fell into the water in an area off the trail. he was there walking with other friends who had been to the a number of times. crews have been looking for the young man and his family went on a hike themselves searching for clues as to what could have happened. >> until we are proven otherwise, i know that my brother can beat the odds regardless of the terrain and water levels and whatever other factors there might be.

>> this weekend at santa clara county is hosting an event called stand down. it's been held in other cities but this is the first time in the county. more than 50 providers will be offering free food, haircuts, mental health services, legal services and more. it's at the fairgrounds. they will give free rides there. >> we are attempting to get all the veteran service organizations in the county assembled in one place at one time for a two day period. >> this is a big deal for veterans who struggle to qualify for dental care. one doctor is both a dentist and in the air force reserve. her company mobile dental is what it sounds like, a dental

we will end here with a live camera in san jose showing you 280, with everything moving at the limit. >> some people are calling it the twitter killer, meta launching its new app called threads yesterday, and it's taking on twitter. it is the number one trending topic in the u.s. on twitter. gloria rodriguez joining us in the newsroom to explain what you need to know if you are thinking about joining. >> good morning. it is going head-to-head with twitter. meta launching threads earlier than expected and people have been rushing to joint. mark zuckerberg posted that 10 million people signed up for threads in seven hours. he posted that the vision is too great an open and friendly public space for conversation. you can sign in with your instagram account. it carries over your username and verification. and you can access your built in follower base. it has a similar interface to twitter.

increase -- of a toll increase is inviting comments from supporters and critics alike. it's already costing drivers about seven dollars. come january 2024, if the bill passes, we know that can go up to $8.5. the bill passed its first committee hearing yesterday evening that would raise tol ls on seven bridges by one point $50 -- by $1.50. we have covered the operating deficits of various transit agencies. the money is to fund public transportation. however, the bay area council is opposed to the bill, saying, before they can support new taxes, tolls or fees, they need to see the agencies working to make their systems safer,

there were 291 passengers and 16 crew members on board. three passengers died in the crash, including a teenager from china, who was run over by airport firetrucks. investigators blame the pilots, saying they flew too low and slow. >> philadelphia is taking legal action after a mass shooting this week. the man blames her for the deaths of five people is in custody this morning. the city has filed suit against two makers of so-called ghost guns. the live. desk with more on this >> authorities say ghost guns were used in the attack in a philadelphia neighborhood. in addition to the five killed, several others were wounded, including a toddler. we have reported on ghost guns at length in the bay area but if you are unfamiliar they are weapons that can be purchased online and assembled at home, off imposing a major concern to police because they are untraceable and they can be bought without age or background checks. the city of philly elvia desha

of philadelphia is suing -- the city of philadelphia is suing two manufacturers of ghost guns. >> they attempted to avoid liability by claiming they are selling parts, not guns, but the gun kits they sell can be assembled in minutes by anyone. >> the atf does not know about them. you are required by federal law when you make these guns to call the atf and register it with a serial number. that is not being done. >> philadelphia has seen a 300% increase in the number of ghost guns used in crime over the past four years and nationwide ghost gun recoveries are up 1100% since 2017. the gun maker has not responded to the lawsuit and the shooting suspect is being held without bail. >> police have seized more fentanyl in the tenderloin in the past seven months then all of 2022. a report released by the police department shows officers

recovered more than 150 pounds of the drug, which is worth nearly $200,000. that is almost 10 pounds more than the 144th pounds -- the 144 pounds seized in 2022. matt dorsey says the city expects seizures to increase by 25 times over the next four years. >> 500 blocks of san francisco are going to be repaved in a big project announced by mayor london breed. it's going to cost more than $77 billion and take a year to complete. the funding comes from vehicle registration fees, gas and sales taxes. the city has about 13,000 blocks and over the last two years about 60% of them has been resurfaced. among the streets consider for repaving are golden gate avenue and mariposa street and vallejo street. >> it is now time for your morning money report. jetblue airlines will follow a judge's ordered to end their
