what to do. >> thanks for joining us. >> you have probably noticed the warmer temperatures today and they are going to keep rising to unhealthy high levels this weekend. it is a concern for firefighters like those in the north bay who battled his fire this afternoon. here is time lapse of smoke from the hog fire which burned eight acres outside cloverdale along highway 128. firefighters on the ground and in the air stopped it from spreading further. >> we have live team coverage on the weather and its impact. leslie brinkley is in one of the hottest parts of the bay area. let's hear from sandhya patel. >> let's talk about this excessive and extreme heat that is ahead. we have an excessive heat watch covering all inland areas from 11:00 a.m. friday 10:00 p.m. sunday. that is going to be the duration of the intensity of this heat that could bring a significant

increase in heat related illnesses. that watch is in effect for monday night in solano county. upper 90's to near 110 degrees. let's talk about those temperatures, where they were today and where they are going saturday. i'm livermore goes up to 105, that is nine degrees higher than where you were. vacaville from 97 to 107 degrees. if you are traveling south come up 10 degrees from today. livermore 105 degrees. stay hydrated with plenty of fluids. never leave people or pets inside vehicles. dues the time you spend outside. know the signs of heat illnesses. certainly fire danger is a concern for inland areas. in the moderate to high category now. as we head toward thursday right through the weekend, that is going to be inching up as the fuels dry out.

they believe the health impacts may be limited. >> if there is than expected or other substances there is a potential health impact but just washing it off with water. we don't expect it will the material to cause inhalation . >> investigations are still ongoing into the release at the plant thanksgiving. some 24 tons of ash rained down on cars and homes. a possible hazmat situation resulted any evacuations in alameda. abc 7 was on the island when firefighters from both the city and county responded to the neptune plaza shopping center on central avenue near webster street. alameda city fire told us a worker smelled something and became concerned it was a possible natural gas leak. firefighters evacuated other businesses and ultimately it was

determined there was no gas leak or hazardous terrio and everyone was allowed back in. >> san francisco, supervisor dean preston is calling for a public hearing to address the ongoing car break-ins at some of the city's top tourist destinations. as suzanne phan found, the supervisor once an honest conversation about what is working and what is not. >> everyone i know who has been in the city long enough has had their car broken into. >> chances are you or someone you know has had a car broken into in san francisco. >> in the last month there's been a series around here. >> at alamo square entry has seen it happening. >> has been happening a lot around here. kind of in the middle of day. >> we see broken glass almost all the time especially near alamo square. >> take a closer look at the data. while there is no publicly available up-to-date stats around san francisco car break-ins, we do have a list of the theft incidents reported to police. though show a dramatic decrease

>> we are getting an exclusive look at the effort it took to fix a cruise ship stuck in san francisco for days. the ruby princess hit pier 27 while docking last thursday. with repairs finished it left san francisco over the weekend. lenny woodrow talked with the team that helped make that happen. >> there it is again. it is leaving. >> as the carnival miracle departed pier 27 monday afternoon, ocean wine repair marine superintendent ryan wilson was reflecting on the miracle's crew was a part of in recent days. >> and thousands of people reliant on me to get this job done.

i had to rely on my men to get the job done. >> the ruby princess hit pier 27 creating a hole in the ship. >> it definitely took me by surprise. was working a job on the other side of the bay. i knew time was of the essence. >> he said he flew the best welders up from los angeles. > it is about two feet by two feet. it is a giant puncture in the side shell. my first reaction was i went to know where is it in reference to the waterline. thankfully this was about 10 feet above the waterline and it happened to be in a tank called the healing tank that was designed to have water pumped in and out of it. that was some good news. >> good news and momentary relief. soon wilson realized the crew would you repairing the ship from inside a giant walk in fish freezer. >> everything was filled to the brim with frozen fish ready to leave for this giant cruise. >> the repairs taking place on the other side of a 25 inch diameter manhole.

wilson had to cut the material small enough to get through the manhole and then reconstruct it on the others. he says the crew worked around-the-clock to isolate the damage creating a watertight barrier. >> even if it were to fill with water the ship would be completely safe sailing all the way to canada and back. >> to allay passenger concerns about a visible hole into the ship, the team fixed a stainless steel piece of sheet metal over the hole. >> this was the first one for me where it was this close to the waterline. i could see why the coast guard had denied the vessel sailing all it was being repaired. the fact everything was able to be coordinated so efficiently and to get the right welders at the right time was incredible. i was not surprised we passed coast guard inspection first time. these guys are the best. close to a quarter of million dollars and share this message from the captain thanking them. >> we are doing well. we want to thank you for extreme professionalism and

>> i am a single mom and i thought this is going to be amazing to do with my daughters. >> the tickets sold out instantly last fall and now they were going for thousands of dollars each. > i've been keeping my eye open as it was getting closer hoping i could find a deal. >> then she saw this ad on facebook marketplace showing leslie was filling four tickets to the show. >> i looked at her facebook profile. she was a mom should she was not far from me. >> julie and leslie had a mutual friend. it seemed perfect. >> i jumped on and set are the tickets still available. yes they are. >> the seller messaged back giving the price, the seat numbers. even showing the ticketmaster receipt. > i kept thinking this is great. >> i cannot even let people know it is not me. >> 25 miles up the road, leslie was at her wits and.

hackers had taken over her facebook account and she could not get it back. >> i will cope with in email from facebook that said we have removed purity no address. > the hackers had switched the email and password on her account walking her out. >> i tried to click on that was not me. >> she tried to reset the password but facebook santa links to the hackers email. >> it takes you in circles. there is no phone number. there is no one to do a chat with. it is end of this. >> she found out the hackers were posing as her and selling phony taylor swift tickets on facebook marketplace. >> my name is there. my face. the flood of text messages. is this really you. >> the hackers had blocked her from her own account so she could not see the offers pouring in for tickets or worn other potential victims like julie. >> my emotions were like this. >> julie had just sent $1300

through venlo to a person she thought was leslie and then waited to surprise her daughters with tickets. her excitement quickly faded. >> once i sent the money, they responded back saying we cannot send the tickets. need to pay h you hundred $50 name change fee. >> no tickets came. julie panicked. >> i sent a message saying please just send the venlo back. >> the imposter blocked her messages. >> a pit in my stomach. i think i got scammed $1300. > quickly she stopped the payment from her bank. benbow had already gone ahead and paid the scammer. a venn mode email said even though the bank stopped the payment quote don't worry. we covered you. it was like a punch to the gut to >> they give you a link and the link does not work. >> leslie was desperate to get the imposter out of her account knowing a crime was underway with her name attached. facebook's automated reset system gave him the error

messages and facebook had no life person to help. >> i thought to myself i have to find another avenue to try to get this resolved. facebook was not an option. > i was super upset and i texted my daughters. >> julie posted scam alerts on facebook. thank fully friend sold them and told julie that was not really leslie. >> i noah lesslie. she is a mom. she is a great person. i got her cell phone number and we started talking. >> once we spoke on the phone we knew we were both real people. >> the two of us were like we are not letting this -- we are going to take him for all we can. >> i just want to to have her money back. >> she and i teamed back and said let's contact 7 on your side. >> we contacted vae facebook. first venmo said julie should have used this purchase protection feature.
