happened this weekend. a hundred teenagers and adults were cited or arrested. we have the aftermath of the meeting. reporter: what we saw at the park last weekend has sparked quite a bit of reaction and opinions. that rolled over into the police commission meeting tonight, two hours of public comment. >> skateboarding is not a crime. reporter: one after another, people took to the microphone at the police commission meeting to voice their displeasure over san francisco pd's response to saturday night's hill bomb, a permitted and non-sanctioned skateboarding event. >> we demand answers why there were hundreds of cops in military grade uniforms with batons, drawing guns, rushing at skateboarders. reporter: in past years the event has resulted in major

injuries and a death, so in preparation this year police set up barricades and assigned extra officers to the area. investigators say three muni vehicles were tagged with graffiti. the chief would not get into specifics but previously said at one point fireworks were launched at officers. bottles were thrown at them, and they were punched and spit on. >> we cited for dangerous and unlawful behavior. reporter: the dozens who packed the steps outside city hall wednesday night and filled the police commission room said the arrest of 32 adults and citations are 81 juveniles was unacceptable. >> the police encroaching on the situation made the event more dangerous. reporter: he says he was going to a friends house, angered by the detainment but the way he and others were treated. >> zip tied, and the

the street of san francisco from 8:45 until 1:00 a.m., no bathrooms. some girls peed in their pants. treating teenagers as animals is the right thing to do. reporter: the chief did not respond to any allegations but says he will soon see body camera video. >> next week we will release the video and have a detailed account of everything that happened. reporter: there were strong chants outside city hall from protesters to defund the police. that comes as police are already understaffed by hundreds of officers. there is tension in the air after last weekend. dan: thank you. we will see what happens next week as the bodycam video's are released. let's shift to the weather.

we take a live look outside, it is in the inland areas where the heat will be very intense the next few days. let's get you caught up with spencer christian. spencer: one more day of calm pleasant weather before the heat arrives. 7:00 tomorrow morning, a mix of clouds and sunshine. temperatures in the 50's. by noon, mostly sunny, 70's inland, mid 60's on the bay. tomorrow afternoon, warm, breezy, low to mid 90's inland. low 60's on the coast. before sunset, we will see mainly sunny skies, a marine layer developing and temperatures dropping 70 inland. low 60's around the bay. then the heat will arrive. i will tell you more about that later. dan: as the heat arrives, it is

important to do what we can to be ready for it now. some heat related injuries have been reported in the east bay. tim john's has the do list to keep you safe. reporter: three point 5 million people in the bay area will endure the heat this weekend but the impact of the temperatures are already being felt. in the east bay a three-year-old is being treated for injuries after falling from a second-story window. >> due to the high heat, residents often leave windows open to let the heat out and get fresh air in. reporter: beyond the incident other concerns are in play, those range from the stress the temperatures will put on the power grid to the elevated risk of wildfires. >> the relative humidity drops and poses a challenge. reporter: the heat cause strain on our bodies. doctors say it is critical to be on the lookout for heatstroke and heat exhaustion.

close to surfers. they avoid surfers. reporter: officials say while there are no reports of injury, the otter is a safety risk. a team from the u.s. fish and wildlife service and monterey bay aquarium monitored her and attempted to capture her. >> a hurt, or she will bite someone. if she bites someone, i do not want to know what will happen. reporter: this is video when a surfboard was attacked by the wanted otter. >> just tearing it up. i tried to get the otter off the board by flipping it over but she got on top of the board. reporter: he said the five minute encounter felt like an hour. >> i was scared. i knew i had no chance against her if she started attacking me.

reporter: once the otter is captured, she will be examined at the monterey bay aquarium and rehomed. >> people are like let it be, but the truth of the matter is it is not normal. reporter: a spokesperson for u.s. fish and wildlife say as long as conditions are favorable, they will attempt to capture her. dan: city officials are launching a plan to take act san francisco's united nations plaza. -- take back san francisco's united nations plaza. there are plans to bring skateboarding and other attractions. in may they held a conference to address rampant drug use. plans have been filed to build a skate park on 13,000 square feet of the plaza. it calls for the addition of chess and ping-pong tables, exercise stations and more, all part of a pilot program run by the parks department. the changes are set to begin in

the next drawi saturday. you just saw it here, a former oakland a with an emotional honor at tonight's espys. >> i came back and was able to get out and throw 97 mph. that is not physically who i am. dan: that is liam winner of the award for perseverance. he was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma in 2022 and underwent several months of chemotherapy. he announced in april he is cancer free. he currently plays for the chicago white sox. it was a busy day for baseball, even though there were no games.
