tim: the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. on east 580 near harrison street in oakland. two cars, one a dark gray sedan and another a maroon colored suv, were involved in a rolling gunbattle. >> they were about eight to nine shots fired. tim: the victim was an eight-year-old boy caught in the crossfire and injured. >> the child was driven to the hospital and was later transported to the children's hospital in oakland. tim: the young boy is the third child to be hit by a stray bullet in the past three days. opd confirmed to others had been injured into separate shootings. in a statement released friday night, the mayor said "senseles s gun violence has impacted far too many lives and when and in the distant -- an innocent child is harmed, it is unfathomable." no arrests have been made at this time and chp says they are still investigating.

officers believe the two vehicles may have exited the freeway at park street. in oakland, tim johns, abc 7 news. dion: there was also a freeway shooting in san francisco today. a woman was shot in e leg earlier this afternoon. she was traveling southbound on interstate 280round 1:00 p.m. three shots were fired towards her suv. sky 7 was above the scene. the woman was able to pull over on the shoulder. first responders took her to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the lower leg. authorities are asking witnesses to contact the chp. dan: let's turn to the heatwave. dion: temperatures are expected to peak tomorrow. let's get to spencer with a 24 hour forecast. spencer: as we look at tomorrow's planner, plan on dealing with extreme heat. 7:00 tomorrow morning, mostly

sunny skies. temperatures will be in the 50's on the coast and around the bay. by noon, it will have reached 90 degrees already in many inland locations. mid 70's around the bay. into the late afternoon, 4:00 or so, up to about 102, 94. the warmest in the locations will see warm 80's, maybe mid 80's around the bay shoreline. mid to upper 60's at the coast. in the 7:00 hour, still in the mid 90's in many areas. the heat will hold on. i will show you the full accuweather 7-day forecast in a few minutes. dan: thanks. in the east bay, residents kicking off the weekend with a cold pint at the 12th annual blues and brews festival in pleasant hill. warm weather did not stop a lot of people from having fun. >> we have people out here braving the heat. i think this will be the first weekend where you won't have to wear a parka.

it is nice to have a true summer evening experience. dan: saturday is the main event of the blues and brews festival filled with a variety of food vendors, 20 local breweries, and live music. the festival runs through 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., so be sure to pack water and sunblock, and take it easy. bring a hat. tickets are still available on their website. livermore's lizzie fountain is running again just in time for the heatwave. problems with some of the equipment because the to turn off but with the hot weather arriving, crews got the water flowing again. they will watch it over the weekend just in case it shuts off again but they are optimistic it will stay on. dion: an outreach worker from the mary isaac center went around petaluma to check in on on house folks. he brought refreshments to help people get through the day. >> a lot of times, people

overheat and don't realize it. they think they have a headache. >> it is brutal to be out and it all day, for sure. yes, a gatorade and a little bit of hope is huge. dion: volunteers also stayed busy today. there was plenty of water on hand as first responders from across sonoma county took part in a training drill. they took breaks under shaded trees and an air-conditioned library. lifeguards are expecting big crowds as families go out to city pools and beaches. despite the extreme conditions, pg&e has no plans for public safety power shut off this weekend. the shutoffs typically happened when there is severe weather like extreme heat and wind. that could increase the risk of a wildfire. it allows for the utility to turn off power lines so they don't ignite fires if they get damaged. now, you can track the temperatures where you live with the very same tools that our

weather team uses. just use the abc 7 bay area news app wherever you stream. dan: a surfboard stealing sea otter is still at large tonight in santa cruz. catching this elusive critter is proving to be quite a challenge because this is something experts have encountered very rarely. lauren martinez has more on the hunt for otter 841. >> i came over here and everyone is talking about it. i said i was videotaping acute daughter and everyone said -- a cute otter, and everyone said that is 841. >> it has once again evaded capture attempts i wildlife officials. >> i am frustrated and exhausted. >> colleen is one of the divers. they have been working with monterey bay aquarium staff since july 2. these are photos taken wednesday. officials are responding because this five-year-old female otter is showing an unusual behavior

by approaching people. >> it is not an issue we have frequently to know how to capture an animal with this set of behaviors. we are just trying to be as adaptable and creative as we can. >> this mischievous otter has quite the mystery. the otter's mom was rescued in santa cruz in 2016. the mom had reports of approaching people on kayaks in boats but nothing to the extent of her daughter, otherwise known as otter 841, which is her rescue number. >> although we have not observed are being aggressive towards people, she's really focused on the boards or the fins. we don't want to have a person accidentally bit. >> officials say when she's captured, she will undergo a health assessment and eventually rehome to in a zoo or aquarium. a local server says that is a shame. he held a surfboard friday that

joseph sanchez. four months ago walking out of children's hospital with a new heart. and this week, a surprise visit from his transplant surgeon. >> thank you for everything. when i saw him, that is the man that saved my son's life. tara: joseph's mom now seeing her son through three organ transplants. >> jojo, as we have called him over the years, he has been through a lot. it is both a miracle in what he's been able to get through. tara: at just seven months old, joseph was diagnosed with cancer. a liver transplant followed. seven years later, a new kidney. now ,a new heart. >> i don't think we've ever done three sequential transplants like this. these are three of the most major organs that are vital to a patient or a person survival. tara: joseph's medical conditions have caused some developmental struggles, but it is his ability to continue to

emerge with a smile that sets him apart. >> he goes into the situation, even though we know it is a scary situation, he never shows it too much. we know he is apprehensive, but he's got a really good attitude. >> how did it feel to see the doctor today? >> good and happy to see dr. ma. he was my surgeon. >> how does your incision feel? >> god has sent us wonderful people from the nurses to the doctors, the music therapists. tara: joseph even writing a song about his journey. >> happy and proud to be alive. tara: amidst the joy, there is still some fear. >> he could have rejection. they could stop working right. that's my biggest fear. tara: so, they take it day by day, not a moment for granted. >> because of the organ donors,
