i'm cleo rodriguez and it will be a hot weekend. here is meteorologist francis eyeglasses. >> we have an excessive feed warning that takes effect at 11:00 this morning and continues through tomorrow night for many of the inland neighborhoods. if you're away from the beaches and the coast, then god for the marine layer. we have a little bit right now along the coast and that is helping to keep things cool at the beaches today where you might want to head. temperatures right now generally in the 50's to near 60 in a few spots like san jose and fairfield at 60, san francisco, nevada, half moon bay at 54. here's a live view from our rooftop camera. you can see barely any wind, high pressure in place, and that means things will warm up. sunrise at 5:59 and checkout inland areas, already near 70 degrees this morning. it will be hot. triple digits expected for inland neighborhoods, even up to

close to 110 degrees. around the bay, mid to upper 80's at the beaches mid-60's, and i will have the complete forecast coming up. >> developing news, an eightc-year-old boy is in great condition after heleo happened eastbound 580 near harrison street around 6:30 p.m. a free a stop. auths say the shooting first involved two cars, a dark gray sedan and maroon colored suv. chp tells abc7news the eight-year-old boy was in a car not involved in the shooting. he is the third child to be hit by a stray bullet in oakland in the past four days. >> the child was driven to the hospital, highland hospital and was later transported to the children's hospitals in oakland. gloria: in a statement released friday night, the oakland mayor says "senseless gun violence has

impacted far too many lives and when an innocent child is harmed, it is unfathomable. i'm staying abreast of the situation and join all oaklanders in pulling for the young victim, full recovery. they're waiting for an update on the voice condition -- a condition this morning. chp says it is investigating. no arrests have been made. officers believe the two suspected vehicles may have exited the freeway at park lafarge, a major road in oakland. there was also a freeway shooting in san francisco a woman was shot in the leg yesterday afterno. interstate 280 near thisound on boulevard around 1:00 p.m.. investigators say at least three shots were fired towards her suv . sky 7 was above the scene of the incident. the woman was able to pull over on the shoulder of the freeway. first responders took her to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the lower leg.

this morning, we are getting ready for a hot weekend. in the north bay, people are trying to stay cool as some areas are expected to hit triple digit temperatures, like francis said earlier. an outreach worker from the mary isaac center spent time in penna luna checking to see if the homeless are ready for the heat. she brought refreshments to help people throughout the day. >> sometimes people over here and don't realize it. they think they have a headache or some kind of >> a gatorade of help to get better, it's huge. gloria: volunteers are staying busy. there was 20 of water on hand as first responders from across sonoma county took part in an all-day training drill. looking ahead, lifeguards say they are expecting big crowds as families go out to city pools and beaches. despite the extreme conditions, pg&e has no plans for public

safety power shutoffs this weekend. they shut off -- the shutoffs typically happen with severe weather like extreme heat and wind which can increase the risk of a wildfire. it allows utility to turn off power lines so they do not ignite fires if they get damaged. in the east bay, residents kick up the weekend with a cold pint at the 12th annual blues and brews festival in pleasant hill. orme weather did not stop some from having a little fun in the sun. >> we got people out here already raising the heat as it cools off a little bit. i thing this will be the first weekend where you won't have to wear a parka so it is nice to have a true summer evening experience. gloria: looks fun. today is the main event at the blues and brews festival filled with a variety of food vendors, local breweries, and live music. you can go to the festival from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. during the height of the heat. be sure to pack water and some block and tickets are still

aquarium staff. these are photos taken wednesday. officials are responding because this otter is showing concerning and unusual behavior by approaching people. >> we don't have this issue that frequently to know exactly how to capture an animal with set of behaviors, so we are just trying to be as adaptable and creative as we can. >> this mischievous otter has quite the history, and a spokesperson for modern bay aquarium says the otter's mom was rescued in santa cruz in 2016. the mom had reports of approaching people on kayaks and boats but nothing to the extent her daughter, otherwise known as otter 841, which is her rescue number. >> though we have not observed are being aggressive toward people, she is really focused on the boards or if they are wearing fins, they are focused on the fins. we don't want to have a person accidentally bit. >> officials say when she is

to the list. they called the states actions discriminatory in an active government overreach. 26 states fall under california's travel ban including -- and, more than half the states in the country. a new plan to forgive $39 billion in student loans, more than 800,000 borrowers could have their student loans forgiven. these are people who have been paying their loans for 20 to 25 years. the relief comes from errors in tracking payments which left a lot of borrowers paying more than they needed. the department of education will reach out to eligible borrowers. last month, a supreme court struck down president biden water plan to forgive more than $400 billion in student loan debt. we have been talking about the heat this weekend so let's get a preview with francis. francis: we will crank it up this afternoon. here is a live of view from our

reverend james jesse -- jesse jackson is stepping down as president of the amo push coalition. jackson created the civil rights group in 1996 and in his announcement, he said he wants to see the organization grow and build on what they have established over the years. jackson, 81, was parkinson's disease in 2017. his successor will be introduced at this weekend's 57th annual rainbow push coalition convention. in and now is banding in a now is banning employs from wearing masks at some of its restaurants. according to a memo shared on social media, the ban applies in an arizona, novato, colorado, utah, and texas but not california. workers can wear a mask if they get a medical exemption or if it is part of their job. in its guidelines, they say the policy is to emphasize the importance of customer service and will also improve communication.

a lot of work is being done to boost business in downtown san jose. now the city's annual dine downtown we kicks off furthering the momentum. abc 7 news southbay reporters -- reporter zach fuentes has more on how businesses hope to attract attention. >> a victim of the pandemic, cafe eden was forced to close it storefront down entirely, surviving only through online catering. now things are turning around. their restaurant is back -- open -- back open. >> we are getting the business backup and we are doing it one data time. >> the san jose association says there has been an object of foot traffic, some credit given to two recent blood parties that attracted crowds of people. jump starting many local businesses. >> we heard from small business owners in the vicinity of the blood parties that we have been putting on that they sometimes earn their entire month's rent in the one night. >> officials say there is more

today through tomorrow. there is also a spare the air alert today and moderate air quality forecast. for parts of the southbay and interior east bay, stay hydrated. avoid being outdoors. usually the heat peaks between 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. take breaks and do not leave pets or kids in the car. look out for that. i want to get to the highs today. it will be hot, well above 10 degrees average in san jose. 92, morgan hill 103, gil were 82, but check out santa cruz, 83. that will be a gorgeous spot this afternoon. on the lower peninsula, we will see lower to upper 80's, palo alto 82, redwood city 88, but then had to the coast and temperatures drop by as much as 20 degrees. half moon bay will be one of the coolest spots at 64. downtown san francisco, 72 degrees this afternoon. we will see a little breeze keeping the sunset district at

was available, the breweries went back to making lager beer the way it had always been made, at cold temperatures. for some reason, this company, anchor, decided we are going to keep doing it the old-fashioned way. recognized of the speed or, of a small company that preserved the process. and that is what the owner fell in love with and he bought the company. he went on a mission to improve the beer and ended up bringing it to the whole world. this is my home, i've been here for almost 38 years. my history started in a summer job in 1984. i took a part-time job on the packaging line and i hold the position of brewmaster. so i've had quite an extensive history. >> i was a young college student starting to enjoy beer for the first time and the next thing i know a job opening popped up here, and bring -- being the homebrewer i was and getting more interested in beer, i thought i better give this a shot.
