that goes along long way for me. dion: and walk that goes a long way. we learn why the aids walk has maneuverable -- importance is here. abc 7 news at 5:00 starts now. building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. dion: a perfect day to seek relief at the beach, within the temperatures pushing past 100 degrees and subsidies. while that heat is moving out tonight, a new weather concerns on the radar. good evening and thank you so much for joining us. i am dion lim. we begin now with a shift in the forecast, lots of hotspots in the bay area include several cities in the east bay. livermore and concord both hit triple digits. you can see the haze on the east bay hills and walnut creek cameras. it was also sizzling in san raphael with a high of 90 degrees. let's get the latest with spencer christian, spencer, you

say that the heat is easing but some possible thunderstruck on the way? >> the heat is still with us, but as you mentioned, it might ease little bit. here's current temperatures, we just lost another triple digit, livermore was at 101 degrees and we are hitting hundreds elsewhere. still hitting 101 at fairfield, up in the north bay, look at ukiah and cloverdale, 104 and 106 degrees respectively. easing slowly and into next week we could expect further cooling. we still have the excessive heat warning in effect on the bay area 11:00 today for locations away from the coast and bank, and this is still dangerous, potentially dangerous, he. and we have a minimal, marginal threat of isolated thunderstorms tonight because the atmosphere is unstable at high pressures are moving out with a trough of warm pressure moving in. and this is a north bay concern

second floor and has burns on of his body. firefi were initially told several people were trapped inside the apartment, but crews did not find any other victims.e started inside of a bedroom. heat and smoke to measure the entire building. a wild fire is yosemite national park and has charts 650 acres. smoke is impacting sections of the north dome trail and lamplight creek trail. here is the view of the skies above halftone as the air quality index was hazardous. it is believed to have been sparklight lightning on june 29. the flames have been moving slowly, some trails have been closed since tuesday. there is a 0% containment. a reunion and relief weekend following the release of a woman who was kidnapped and held captive in mexico for months. we told you about the story of

monica deleon barbara, who was abducted eight months ago in mexico. the fbi says that her captors released her friday night and the search for them continues. >> waking up tomorrow, we can all breathe a little bit easier, and it is a much happier day because of it. i am getting married in a week and this is the best wedding gift that i could have ever received. dion: great timing. she was kidnapped in the state of police go -- jalisco walking home from work. there are important precautions to take when traveling. >> always make sure that someone knows where you are at all times, whether it is a best friend or family member. so that way, especially if you're going to a developing country -- dion: the fence say that not only was she reneged with family but also with the dog that she was walking when she vanished.

a major development in the east bay over the fate of golden gate fields in berkeley. the owner says it will close the racing track at the end of this year's meet in december. the closure will bring an end to 82 years of horse racing at golden gate fields, which opened back in 1941. in a statement, the ownership group says that it will cause the track to focus on two horseracing facilities in california, scented -- in southern company. the fields have been targeted repeatedly, protesting the deaths of horses there. more than one million dollars phrase today at the 37th annual aids walk san francisco at golden gate park. we are a proud media sponsor and right trey tells us why those at the walk say they still need to spread awareness. >> a lively start at golden gate park for the thousands who attended this year's aids walk. many carrying signs honoring the people who inspired them.

under heat alerts. it has been the hottest first two weeks of july on record for phoenix and tucson as well as tampa, fort myers and key west. phoenix is on day 17 of temperatures at or above 110 degrees. at least 12 heat related deaths were reported in maricopa county. residents are seeking rel texas, and el paso has seen triple digit temperatures for 30 days in a row. the forecast is calling for 100 degree days for at least for the next week. this is one of the senior centers that has extended hours for people to get out of the heat. you can seek stacks of water right there, and they tell me the last several days they have seen several dozen people often coming in here with their pets through those doors. >> in las vegas, temperatures nearing all-time high of 170 degrees, authorities urged residents to stay indoors during the day. going centers opening there as well. the ground is already saturated

nonetheless we still have this excessive heat warning until 11:00 this evening for all locations away from the coast. this is still potentially dangerous heat. on we go to the life view at santa cruz beach where we have a pretty good crowd there, lingering in the 60's for san francisco, and heading into the 80's up to san jose at 81 degrees, 70 degrees in palo alto, and 57 degrees at half moon bay. a nice view from emeryville showing the calm waters and mixed sky conditions of some clouds and moisture moving away. 80 degrees at santa rosa, napa at 81 degrees, and triple digits at fairfield and comfort -- concord. here is the view looking at san francisco, from sutro tower, and here are the headline forecasts. isolated thunderstorms possible tonight, the heat uses tomorrow, and we have much cooler weather coming our way in the middle of the week. here is that forecast animation

taking us through late-night hours, we noticed a spot of green showing up there and we might see some isolated storms in the north bay, it looks like the remainder will be dry. as we start the day tomorrow, more high clouds will still be passing through and it'll be a mainly sunny day. low temperatures will be on the mild-warm side, low-mid 60's in many locations, that is uncomfortably warm. highest -- highs tomorrow, 60's at the coast, upper 70's and east where we had triple digits today, we will see mid-upper 90's tomorrow. still quite warm but not dangerous. here's the accuweather, seven-day forecast, you can see the cooldown continuing through tuesday and wednesday, it might have been cooler with inland eyes barely reaching 90 degrees, those two days. we see low-mid 70's around the bay shoreline, but as we head toward the week, it heats up again, thursday up to about 100
