solutions. this is abc7news. >> for the first time tonight we are seeing and hearing what san francisco police officers used at a chaotic skateboarding party that ended with dozens of arrests. >> thanks for joining us. it has been a little less than two weeks the annual dolores hill skateboarding event became an intense standoff with san francisco police officers in riot gear moving in to disperse a crowd of hundreds of skateboarders who took over dolores street spring muni streetcars and a bus with graffiti. >> police arrested or cited more than 100 people. luz pena is here to walk you through some of the new video and details it reveals. >> we have been waiting for sfpd to release this video. what we do not see are people getting arrested. i spoke to a parent who said several teenagers were detained

who were not part of the event. among them her 15-year-old son. than 100 people including juveniles were arrested or cited , today's sample two police released body camera video of this unpermitted scapegoating event in the mission district -- skateboarding event in the mission district. their timeline points to officers setting up barricades around 4:00 p.m. on multiple streets around dolores park. around 5:15 p.m. arson -- officers told skateboarders the event is not happening. going off and vandalism. a sergeant reported getting struck in the face by a female with a nail and then a firework reject our lending close to bystanders and officers.

the body camera video shows multiple verbal warnings to the crowd to leave the area. captured here, explosions, fireworks being thrown. bottles hitting officers and at least one muni train vandalized. >> san francisco police. you are all under arrest. >> police arrested or cited 81 juveniles and 82 adults. >> he has charges of inciting a riot and conspiracy against him. he was detained from 8:45 until 1:00 a.m. on the street. some of that time he was zip tied. >> lisa says her 15-year-old son was riding a scooter on his way to a friends house at 8:00 p.m. when he and other friends got caught up in the crowd entertained. did he know about the help bomb? >> he did not. they asked some of the police what to do because there was a group of police there so they asked where do we go. what should we do and the police pointed for them to go the other direction and so they did. that is when the other riot police came forward and detained

them. >> today sfpd's chief phil scott said they are still investigating. >> like knowledge there could have been some people that just got caught up in the situation. i will say this and you will hear this tonight. there were multiple warnings. >> parents like lisa heard charges against juveniles will be dismissed. we contacted san francisco's juvenile probation department. in statement they said they are awaiting completion of sfpd's investigation of the incident in order to determine what action may be taken on the youth's arrests. civil rights attorney rachel leatherman said she has in talks with at least 40 families to take further action against the city and commanders responsible for the detentions. >> we are considering filing a class action to challenge the unlawful arrest and detention of both the juveniles and the young adults who were simply swept up. >> out of the 32 cases of adults who were detained or arrested

noontime. already in the 80's and 90's. triple digit showing up in the afternoon. i will let you know how long the triple digit heat will hang around. >> a violent 10 hours inkland. four people killed in separate shootings. the first shooting happened in wh police found the bodies of a man wom inside the home on 80 9th avenue. later ended the day someone was found shot to death in a car 100 6th avenue or sunnyside street also in east oakland and there was a third victim found in the fruitvale district. police say officers driving around on routine patrol found a woman lying on 18th avenue 12th street just before 5:00 a.m.. they realized she had been shot. >> sadly in the span the city of oakland experienced four homicides. two of which occurred in one incident. at this time, we do not believe any of these incidents are connected. >> police say no arrests have

been made and any of the shootings. this brings number of homicides in oakland to 57. there were 64 at this time last year. >> a suspected serial burglar accused of break-ins all san francisco is under arrest. police have tied them into at least 18 cases and say there could be more. >> this case involves committed dissenters, businesses, homes and vehicles that were ransacked and tens of thousands of dollars in cash and property taken. >> this case will be assigned to our major crimes unit. normally burglary cases go to our general felonies unit. given the prolific nature of this activity i felt it was necessary to assign it to our major crimes unit which is the unit for more serious and repeat offenders and is handled more experienced prosecutors. >> the suspect is 29-year-old patrick potter. he is being held without bail and faces a long with the charges that could. a sentence of 25 years in prison. r witnesses to come forward tog

help make a case and of the death of a 63-year-old woman. sh w pushed to the ground on 3rd streean egbert avenue in the bayview on july 3. she died from her iurs two days later. police detaid a person of interest but now say they do not have enough evidence to make an arrest. police are asking anyone with information to contact them. >> a man charged with attacking nancy pelosi's husband at the likely stand trial in samper cisco. a federal judge da motion e egon border.ial to eureka near the public defender argued media attention has tainted the potential jury pool but the judge disagrees. he is accused of breaking into the pelosi home last october. he has plead not guilty to both state and federal charges. the federal trial is scheduled to begin november 13. we are built -- we are working to build a better bay area which means a safer bay area. new data shows samper cisco's

vision zero program to limit traffic jets is far from its goal. it aimed to end the traffic fatalities by 2020 four. suzanne phan has a look at the progress that has been made. >> i have definitely had a few close calls while i am running. >> i've lived in san francisco for three years and i always try to be careful crossing the street. >> it is i think people doing unprotected left interns. >> whether they are running, walking or biking, a lot of people in san francisco say they have had close calls with drivers. vision zero sf is the city's plan to end traffic jets by 2024. this week at 30 say they are concerned. >> it is hard for me to accept we a not going to reach zero by 2024. >> the latest data shows mixed progress. traffic fatalities are up. 2022 was the deadliest year since the initiative launched in 2014. >> i think it is a sobering reality of our city and it is a reminder that our streets are

not as safe as they need to be for people to get around without using a car. >> san francisco is not the only city struggling with traffic fatalities. this chart shows san jose is also close to the same level as it was when it started vision zero in 2015. that is partly because fewer people were on the road during pandemic but people say a lot more work needs to be done to protect pedestrians. >> but it requires the city and sfmta to redesign our streets so they are safer for people to get around. >> the sustainable transportation advocate says city needs to install more protections for pedestrians and cyclists like this protected bike lane that photo in baker street should the supervisor believes the key controlling traffic deaths is to control enforcement. many bicyclists like jefferson will tsay they appreciate the effort. >> it is a great vision. we need to strive for that. i don't know if we will make it but we have got to get close.

involved in the texting scandal should be federally prosecuted. >> the liability the city should be worried about is a liability these officers have given to them from their racist actions and treating people like slaves. that is the real liability they should be worried about. >> new developments. uc berkeley police say the skeleton found in vacant building was the victim of a homicide. the alameda county coroner's office used dna to identify the victim as stephen lawrence mccreary from texas. he had not been seen alive since 2009 when he was in his late 30's. there are no details about how he was killed or when or how his body ended up in the clark kerr campus. uc berkeley are asking anyone with information to please come forward. after seven years the president of stanford university announced he is stepping down after a report was released detailing findings of an investigation

into his research. dustin dorsey is on campus. >> stanford is greater than anyone of us cared i therefore concluded i should step down. words by the president announcing his resignation on august 31 as head of the university amid research misconduct investigations. a stanford alum who is a journalist for a media partner has reported on this controversy. she says this alleged misconduct and other issues such as recent student deaths by suicide on campus have created a difficult environment for students. she believes stepping down as a good step for the school. i think most >> faculty and affiliates solid as a long time coming. >> findings cleared him from fraud or falsification during research he conducted. investigation found there was no relation of data by researchers in five papers for which he was
