francisco and the north bay. it is july 22. we will have more on the top story in just a moment. let's start with a look at your weather. how is it looking out there? shayla: good morning. it is nice and cool to start the day. as you head inland, you can already see it. some areas are already in the 70's. it is much cooler toward the coast. that marine quickly. we do have that dense fog advisory. right now, we only see it lingering around half moon bay. 102 as you head going to be a warm one. it will be comfortable along the bay. cooler temperatures are coming. it's happening very gradually.

right now, i will t to you. gloria: officials are currently battling a grass fire. flames have burned through when he five acres so far along interstate 580 in the tracy area. chp is investigating as possible arson. several fires were started along eight mile stretch of the highway. it lanes are closed. we were driving a this morning. we got this video and said there was a smell of heavy smoke in the area. drivers can expect delays and should proceed with caution. we will monitor developments in the story and bring them to you as soon as we have them. all lanes are open on the after the eastbound lanes were shut down just before the

monday morning. it is the first of three closures for this stretch of the road. two others are planned for august. caltrans will work on the west side after that. a man is dead following a shooting in the tenderloin neighborhood. no arrests so far. the man was shot just after 6:00 yesterday near golden gate avenue. officer say they spoke to the witness who saw him running from the scene. a search is ongoing for a boater who fell into the river. rescuers were called to the area around the antioch bridge when the person went over. the coast guard boater using a helicopter and a rescue boat. firefighters are using the to help search for the other person. a judge heard motions in a case

involving police officers linked to the racist texting scandal. did the officers violate the new racial justice act by trading racist tax. it centers around antioch police officers and men who were charged in a gang relating shooting. the judge will allow the officers to testify with their lawyers present. on august 25. mixed reviews of the newest bike s are leading to questions about the effectiveness of thep. the bike lane is on va street. it is still it is already being used. the lanes are down the center of the street between car traffic. the lane protection is minimal, many of the posts were destroyed

clear lake is already 80 degrees. it does cool down the coast. we have got tha along the coast. for the most part, it's looking good. look at this day planner, it's going to be a warm one. inland especially, it's going to be in the 90's. much cooler if you're trying to beat the heat in the bay. we will see some nice conditions. for now you. gloria: developing on the dangerous heat taking hold across the country. it's not just how high the temperatures will get, how long the extreme heat is sticking around. relentless temperatures have been felt in many places for weeks. the heat is fueling storms.

start the trial against former president donald trump. finally nick cannon picked may 20 to begin the trial. it is a month after the department of justice had requested, well before the presidential election. trump called a setback for the prosecution. the trial will be in a heavily republican area of florida. that will make it difficult to pick an impartial jury. >> it's important for the prosecution to not have someone who just leaves and donald trump regardless of the facts. the facts are pretty strong for the government. gloria: trump's fixer michael cohen settled a lawsuit accusing the organization of failing to cover millions in legal bills. the settlement comes three days before the trial was set to begin. a major agreement was reached to address the future of artificial intelligence.
