support of an open street vendor who was robbed at gunpoint. abc seven news starts right now. >> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions. >> this is exactly what you don't want to see during a heat advisory. a series of brush fires ignites in the east bay. good evening and thank you for joining us. we are definitely feeling the heat for a second consecutive weekend as we take a live look from our diablo cam where you can see us looking for a much clearer for the most part. spencer christian takes a look at the hot spots and gives us a timeline of how long this heat is going to last. >> the good news is it will not last much longer but it is still pretty hot right now as we look at the current temperature readings. you can as we have numerous locations at or above 180°.

fairfield, concord, antioch, we have a little bit less -- we have gotten a little bit less warm. we have a heat advisory in effect until 11:00 tonight for the interior fountains of the north bay. the interior valleys of the east bay, the east bay hills, the santa clara valley and the santa clara values. there is a higher risk of heat-related illness. the good news is the fire danger index shows we are only in those moderate fire danger across the bay area. that condition will only improve and become low in the next couple of days as we get a cooling trend. i'll have more details on that a little bit later on. >> firefighters say hot and dry conditions may have contributed to several grass fires sparking on the ultimate past this morning. cornell bernard has a look at how crews got a handle on the fires while others try to escape the weekend he.

>> it was not got the attention of drivers on the altamont pass early saturday, it was this grass fire. i was on interstate i-80 grabbing video of the smoke and flames moving across the hillside. >> it came out of our house and i saw four distinct columns. >> brian says it was actually for fires over an 8 mile stretch which burned about 55 acres of open space. the chp tweeted, asking drivers to proceed with caution on westbound 580. initially they suspected possible arson calfire believed with temperatures biking around 100°, hot and dry conditions are creating some easy fuel for fire. >> this morning, it could have been simply dragging a chain. i think it is suspicious because with the amount of traffic around, everything is drying out, the wind will start picking up a little bit and then the fuels are starting to dry out. it will get a little bit more busy.

>> it took about five hours to put the fires out. the extreme heat of the day made their wave waterpark in dublin a very busy place. chris keeping my feet in the water, chasing the little one makes you sweat. >> i am his elevating a friend. two friend >> they had some big umbrellas to chill out. >> you still need to find some shade. it is not unbearable. just come prepared and have the right clothing. >> capacity here is about 1600 people. by midday, it was getting crowded. in dublin, cornell bernard. >> as is common when temperatures heat up, bar is slowing down trains. they are running trains at slower speeds between four stations until 6:00 tonight. right about now. you are encouraged to add 10 minutes your travel time.

you can keep track of the temperatures and the air quality with the very same tools that spencer uses. you can find them all in our app. just download the abc seven area at. traffic is moving along on san rafael bridge after an 18 hour closure that ended early this morning. a man suffering from a mental health issue was safely rescued from underneath that bridge at 7:00 a.m.. this all started at about 1:00 friday afternoon. that led the highway patrol to close the lower decks eastbound lanes. the closure caused major gridlock throughout the bay area where fire officials told abc seven news's glory this was a necessary safety move. quite unfortunately it did create a lot of traffic congestion. we are apologetic of that. the individual safety along with our rescuer safety was primary

richmond san rafael branch. miles of payment -- pavement with reinforced concrete that could last up to 40 years. closures. after that, caltrans will begin to work on the westbound side of the freeway. moving on, rescue crews in brentwood last night pull a man from a pickup truck that was wedged into a canal. emergency workers say the driver was on shady willing went he ended up in that canal. the driver was the only person inside the truck. firefighters say it took about 45 minutes to get him out of the pickup. they had to cut the roof off and it was difficult to get the man out due to the angle of the truck. he was taken by helicopter to a trauma center in critical condition. new details as they deal with

contaminated water. a boil order is still in place but napa county officials say the first test of the water shows no e. coli contamination. two more tests need to be negative in order for the county to lift that boil order. e. coli was detected from a local water treatment plant on thursday. e. coli can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea as well as nausea. a water filling station is open at the fire station. san francisco's has responded to a coalition of workers that want to save the company. they have lost a move to buy the 127-year-old marie and run as a co-op. through a spokesperson, the company said they are open to the idea if they have funding. the company is moving ahead with liquidation in the coming weeks. as well as reviewing interest from other potential buyers. the community came together in

oakland this morning to support an ice cream cart vendor after he was robbed at gunpoint last week. the alameda county fire department teamed up with the group norcal racing to organize a buyout event on his behalf. don one as you see here is an 80-year-old man who sells his suites around oakland. it is his main income and uses the money to support his autistic son in peru. juan says he -- says he has been robbed multiple times this year. >> >> plenty of hot rod cars rolled into the event that is to the racing group that coordinates support for local businesses and vendors. norcal racing also organized a gofundme for him. just ahead, a soccer game tonight at lima stadium has been canceled. it would have been the first soccer match there since a stabbing at the stadium earlier this month. just ahead, i want team pulled

announced just hours before tonight's match. ticket holders will be refunded. tonight's game was supposed to be the first international match at the stadium since mexico and cutter played a fan was stabbed during that match. open community groups met today to discuss the future of the open, -- coliseum complex. a $6 billion proposal to redevelop the site is on the table. these groups want to make sure they have a seat at the table. faith organizations, nonprofits and affordable housing advocates meant to discuss so-called community benefits agreement for the project. the proposal is being led by the african-american sports entertainment group. participants had ideas about what they wanted the land to become and how peace oakland residents are able to benefit. >> we want to see the residence here get their needs met. the coliseum should provide affordable housing, good quality jobs, environmental protections

overnight lows will be on the mild to almost uncomfortable side on some inland locations. lows will drop only to the mid 60's and then tomorrow size, 60 and half moon bay, 66 in san francisco. along the bay shoreline we will see me in the mid-70's tomorrow. in that area's triple digits tomorrow. still hot spots, mid 90 at santa rosa, fairfield, concord and morgan hill. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. the cooling begins tomorrow morning. not much change in the and then temperature readings through tuesday. we will still see some low to mid 90's. no triple digits. finally, a sharp cooldown and in land areas on wednesday. that pattern continues all the way into the end of next week and then a mild or a slight warm-up going into next weekend. >> now, abc seven sports with chris alvarez. quite the 40 report to training camp on tuesday. they might be missing a key player to start all of camp.
