begin with the weather. thank you for being with us. happy about the relief from the heat. >> yes. it's weird. i am coming from the central valley but bringing cooler temperatures today. a cooler trend begins for the forecast as you step outside. this is a live look at the conditions. east bay is a little warm this morning. upper 70's for antioch, san ramon, livermore 77, concorde, 75. everywhere else a mild start to the morning. runners in san francisco with 58 degrees temperatures as they cross the finish line. heise today warming up but still cooler than yesterday. a quick check of your forecast shows a cooling trend mainly seen for inland communities. bay look at this sideshow that

just happened after 4:00 this morning on the intersection of hagan berger road and coliseum way in oakland. you can see multiple cars and trucks taking turns doing donuts in the middle of the intersection. this sideshow lasted 15-20 minutes before police broke up the crowd of spectators. this has been an ongoing problem in oakland. officials said earlier this month the oakland police department idevoting more resources toonitor and stop illegal sideshow activity. have a major traffic detourto. eastbound interstats shut down between highway four and it -- hercules, coming sknd crockett. the detours are highlighted in n. it is all for major pavement repair work. the red on the map, that stretch of road you see is scheduled to reopen by 5:00 tomorrow morning. >> so far so good. overnight we had a little

congestion partially because of an issue with the richmond center and also because of the traffic to move traffic off i-80. >> this is closures for this stretch of road. two others are planned for august and then caltrans will begin to work on the westbound part of the freeway. we have good news this morning for yountville residents. a precautionary boil water order has been dead after tests found a negative results for e. coli in the city water supply thursday. jan deville was urging residents to boil water before consuming it. but, the alert has been lifted. the fight to save francisco anchor brewing company continues. the 127-year-old brewery is responding to a coalition of workers that want to save it. they launched a move to buy the iconic brewery and run it as a kobach. through the spokesperson the

company says they are open to the idea if the coalition has enough funding. time is running short. the company is already moving ahead with liquidation in the coming weeks as well as reviewing interest from other potential buyers. there is more to learn about the history of anchor brewing and it's part in the bay area beer landscape. for more we have a full look back at the making of anchor burning through the years of on abc7news.com. the future of the oakland coliseum complex continues to be a top priority for the city. a $6 billion proposal to redevelop the site is on the table. faith organizations, nonprofits, and affordable housing advocates, are discussing a so-called community benefits agreement for the project. the proposal is being led by the african-american sports entertainment group. participants had ideas about what they wanted the land to become and how east oakland

residents are able to benefit. >> we want to see residents here get their needs met. the coliseum site should provide affordable housing, good quality jobs, environmental protections and medications. >> the oakland mayor hopes to keep athletics alive in the city by pushing forward with the howard terminal ballpark plan. the a's already signaled plans to move to vegas. either way, the coliseum could be vacant in the near future. >> now, thousands are run in san francisco's annual marathon that took off bright and early at 5:00 a.m.. some running include former inmates accent quit in prison. ryan curry spoke with one participant that says the sport changed his life and help him through incarceration. >> the stage is set in san francisco for sunday's marathon. as traffic barriers are put up for the race, a few runners are using the marathon to break down other barriers.

>> i plan to do what i cannot do in my life. >> jonathan to serve four years in san quentin state -- state prison. the moment he arrived in prison he joined the thousand mile club, a group of inmates that see running as a form of rehabilitation. >> you want to be better. you want to have the mindset of wanting to rehabilitate and better yourself and process everything. >> he says running was his way of connecting with fellow inmates dedicated to improving their lives while serving tournament after relief -- release. >> being in prison, maybe there is a light of hope if you keep going and do not give up. >> he completed several marathons while locked up but sunday will be his first marathon away from san quentin. he is one of three former inmates racing. it's a moment he did not think would come if you ask him back when he was sentenced. >> we made bad choices in life.

here is a live look from our camera on top of mount tam. vanessa says it will be a nice day to get out there for a hike as we expect to. today this stern grove festival kicks off with the symphony playing alongside special guest group lettuce. fans can enjoy the locally organized music series free of charge at the sigman stern grove's natural amphitheater in san francisco. if you cannot make it this weekend there will be performances every sunday through august 20. the event today starts at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.. speaking of concerts there is an effort to bring another outdoor concert series to san

francisco. we are talking back to back weekends following outside lands. the plan has now been put on hold by the supervisor that wants to hear from people that live and work in the area. abc7news reporter lena howland has the latest. >> nearly every summer for the past 15 years of the outside lands music festival has taken over golden gate park for a weekend in august with seven stages of performers drawing in music lovers from across the state. next year the producer of outside lands wants to piggyback off of the infrastructure to create a second, smaller concert series the weekend after on the nearby polo field. >> it is a big deal for the city, the workers, the restaurants that come out. it is an additional bonus after outside lands. >> san francisco supervisor connie chan put the approval process on hold until folks that live and work in the area could have a say. >> i am totally against this.

it is the noise, the traffic, the trash, people peeing on my garage door. >> the traffic is not fair to the public or the residence. >> for steve schneider, who has lived within blocks of golden gate park for decades, he worries about losing access to the park. >> if this was a free concert i would not carry out. i think it would be fine. it is the access to the park that really troubles me. losing that. i think, ok, they will get new concerts and do more and more and more. when does it stop? >> other neighbors believe the good outweighs the bad. >> i know that a lot of people come into town for the concert and the festival and stay at hotels staffed by union members. we need those dollars spent here in san francisco and people are having a good time. >> the concert promoter it says based on outside lands numbers they expect the concerts to generate $30 million in economic impact for san francisco and at a time when the city is experiencing

serious budget constraints. this concert series would pay the series 1.4 million dollars for the additional event. >> a bonus weekend, bring it on, right? bring it on. let's go, san francisco. let's start having more fun. this is exactly what that will do. >> for it moves forward to the board of supervisors there will be another community meeting august 9 at golden gate park senior center. in san francisco lena >> if you plan on writing through some of the warmest part of the bay area today, especially trains to run at slower speeds. when temperatures sizzle trains commonly operate at reduced speeds between orinda and pittsburgh bay pointe in contra costa county. this low speeds down were implemented for safety after a train derailed in concord during triple digit heat. the bay area is getting a sampling of what much of the country is dealing with now as part of a historic heatwave.

millions of americans coast-to-coast suffering with unrelenting and dangerous heat this morning. here is abc news reporter lionel moist. >> excessive heat from florida to california. >> it's unbearable. >> the combination of hot temperatures and very humid conditions make work miserable for firefighters in jacksonville florida, some lying down on the side of the road to cool off after responding to a car crash. in miami the heat index closed -- climbed over 100 for a record 42 straight days and now other parts of the country will feel it too. >> the heat will expand north into the midwest and the plane bringing triple digit temperatures to cities like kansas city, missouri. >> and a california palm springs spending the ninth consecutive day with temperatures over 115 degrees, hitting a record. >> when the weather changes like this we expect increased medical days, increased fires,

how long it will stay in the bay area. >> good morning stephanie and good morning bay area. we will see a cooling trend began today inlan bay still feeling heat. you are getting really from triple digits. a live look outside from the roof truck -- top sky cam where you can see marathon runners making their way down embarcadero. we have some areas of coastal fog to start the morning specifically in the half moon bay area. it is a thin marine layer because of the activity high clouds are doing today. the cooling trend begins today. it will stay warm in london. however, we will see gradually throughout the week. -- gradual cooling throughout the week. this shows you this and marine layer i was talking about. outside our temperatures are fairly mild in the upper 50's for san francisco. oakland seen low 60's. towards the pacific area,

twitter account was set up using sarah's identity trying to scam people looking for tickets. >> this account is basically every tweet is selling seattle eras tour tickets. i don't want people to delight, that girl scam to me. >> we got scammed in the worst possible way by facial recognition. my daughter is just time to start her life out. >> the family is concerned sarah could be indicated in wrongdoing so they filed a police report. police tell them that since the fake account is not using her credit card or social security number is not identity theft and since no crime has actually been committed there is not much they can do. >> how is it not a crime to steal people's money and post someone else's picture as a perpetrator? my head is spinning. how is that not a crime? >> sarah is not backing down. tailors with tacit album titled "reputation." sarah is fighting to save hers.

everyone else leaning more towards the average side of temperatures and quick check from our star camera showing a couple runners out there. your day planner for today shows us warming up by this afternoon to the low 90's inland area -- inland. >> there are concerns in wine country when it comes to grape growing. vineyard owners say a cool wet spring turned back the clock on vine ripening meaning the 2023 harvest could be weeks later that it has been in years, putting the crop at risk from wildfires. the story from napa valley. >> we are doing more now. mostly, pulling leaves. >> vineyard cruise at this winery are creating more space for grapes to grow under the hot sun of the napa valley. it has been a challenging season for the precious fruit so far to say the least. >> certainly one for the record

books. napa valley's grape growers poured member tom davies says it began with record rainfall and below average temperatures into the start of summer. >> this is my 43rd harvest here. i have a few years to look back. for sure, this has been the coolest start in the napa valley for probably the last 21 years. >> that means grapes of all varieties have essentially been blessed -- left confused and super slow to develop. these are cabernet vines. usually this time of year you would see ripening in the grapes. as you can see, no ripening here. they are emerald green. >> the weather is pushing the entire harvest at least three weeks or so. >> some grape harvests may not happen until october or november putting the crop at the mercy of fall rain or wildfires. >> if we get an early rain, and

early el niño season-long with a light crop that is not ideal. >> fire is top of mind. >> caleb mostly is finneas -- vineyard manager for matthias and wine. >> it is incredible that we can grow this big beautiful canopy without a drop of water partly because we had such a fortuitous winter and spring season. >> napa valley grape growers told abc7news temperate weather resulted in steady growth, loose clusters, and concentrated berries. vineyard teams argument -- continuing to manage canopies for sun exposure and air flow and we are expecting the sparkling harvest end of august. a silver lining in the vineyard is that the grapes are growing loosely clustered that could reduce mildew if they get wet before harvest time. >> it could be a great harvest. not a plentiful bumper crop, but we could have some really

. 30 restaurants and cafés took part in the annual crazing chinatown. for $12 people could buy a tasting pass that led them sample items from each eatery from baked goods to dim sum, boebert tea, and more. the event was organized by the community food center of san francisco. the san francisco boys chorus honored the life of legendary singer tony bennett's, the new york-based celebrity that left his heart in san francisco and died friday at age 96. the chorus sang for free to the public on the states -- steps of city hall and attribute. -- in tribute. so beautiful. the san francisco boys chorus had the chance to perform for tony bennett several times during his life including a joint performance with the girls chorus in 2012 in city hall that celebrated the 50th anniversary of his beloved san francisco song.

the view of the embarcadero. no cars on the road because we have marathon runners moving down and several walking by. areas of coastal fog this morning. we are starting to see it from our bay bridge sky camera. as for our current conditions we are starting to warm through the bay area. fairly mild when it comes to san francisco and half moon bay. look at the peninsula already in the mid to upper 60's when it comes to san mateo, berlin gate, san carlos further inland you see warm start to the morning. antioch at 83 degrees. san ramon 80 degrees. catching up to them in livermore, 77 degrees. we have an onshore flow that will be cooling us off and we are looking at breezy conditions throughout portions of the bay area. san francisco, 10 mile per hour surface wind. sfo in the south city area 13 mile per hour wind. half moon bay 10 mile per hour wind. inland fairfield seeing a 50

mile per hour wind. a nice breeze as you step outside today. when it comes to our highs for today they will not be as hot as they were yesterday. no triple digits for today, something we like to hear. our heat advisory expired overnight leaving us with temperatures in the mid-90's, where the inland communities will be. also, portions of our north bay area. lakeport, ukiah, santa rosa you will see temperatures in the mid-90's. it when it comes to the peninsula area you will top out in the mid to upper 70's. as for the lowe's tonight, if you are getting an early morning run in before worker, these are the temperatures you will be met with. a little bit of a marine layer and fairly mild conditions inland. everyone else, we will see temperatures that are in the mid to upper 50's throughout. 63 in antioch, 61 in morgan hill. a lot cooler than we have been seeing the past couple mornings.

as for the forecast ties, through the work week we will see temperatures start to did come -- dip especially for inland community seeing temperatures in the triple digits. by wednesday in the 80's. you will field a cool down, not as significant when it comes to coastal communities. note with the seven-day forecast we are seeing a wide range of temperatures. our inland communities, that for the golden will be -- cooldown will be felt the most. we will see temperatures dip into the 80's. the thursday will be the coolest day of the week. then, we start to warm back up when it comes to our temperatures. we will see 90's make a return for inland communities on saturday. >> still hard. 88 antioch. >> it will still feel really warm. but it's nice we are not talking about triple digits. no heat advisory, no heat -- heat illness. but still stay safe.
