and only six days and there is still no agreement the terms. hundreds of thousands of people could strike. amanda is live with what is at stake this morning. amanda: good morning. this will be the first time the two sides are meeting since a july 5 deadlock. in the bay area we've seen at least three practice picketing demonstrations at hubs including here in menlo park. reuters is reporting that both the company and the international brotherhood of teamsters have reached agreement on a number of issues including air conditioning on delivery vans. still, the union continues to push for better wages for part-time employees accounting for about half of ups workers. as it stands, the contract covers more than 340,000 all-time and part-time employees. set to expire on the 31st. by their estimates, that is 6%

or 7% of the supply chain throughout the country, so this destruction we are talking about to household and businesses, supply chain backups, all of that would be significant. we heard from industrial and labor experts what we are seeing now. >> when you look at who is striking and you see some trends, you see in some cases potential workers who worked during the pandemic who are kind of fed up, they are looking improve their terms and conditions of employment, looking to have a voice in the workplace >> if the agreement isn't reached by july 31, they will strike august 1. some expert acumen the potential

tonight and organizing a chant during the fifth inning. as we approach back-to-school season, a group of nonprofits is egging to help schools to keep their chrome books. thousands of google chrome books used during the pandemic will become useless this year. the chromebook software three to six years after the laptop release date. in the letter, the group and other advocates say without updates, chromebook can perform all the classroom tasks. a spokesperson from google told east bay times that chromebook software expires for security purposes. reggie: just three weeks before the start of the school year, the unified school district is struggling with a staffing shortage. the issue is made worse by the vacancies for special education, required to be filled. so far, they are short about 200 professionals. they are working with a school staffing agency to help with

reggie: two man suspected of being in a gunfight on interstate 880 will be arraigned on murder charges today. a stray bullet from the shooting in november of 2021 killed a 23-month-old. investigators say and 22-year-old were carrying in ar-15 style rifle when they tried to kill another man on the freeway. the two also face gang enhancements. if convicted they could spend the rest of their lives in prison. kumasi: a jury has been selected and a competency trial of the man suspected of a stabbing spree in davis. a comes after a doctor found him not competent last month. prosecutors pushed back on the findings requesting a competency trial. the former student is accused of standing three people, killing two of those victims. proceedings will move forward if the jury decides dominguez is competent. reggie: mayor london breed's brother has been granted a shorter prison sentence.

yesterday a superior court judge said he could be released within a year. in 2005, he was sentenced to 44 years in prison for murder, armed robbery and carjacking. the judge reduced the sentence the 31 years four months following a change in state laws regarding how california defines order. the charges are now involuntary manslaughter armed robbery and carjacking. brown has been in prison for 22 years in connection with the crimes which were committed in 2000. reggie: ups and representative represent a hundred of thousands of workers will be heading back to the bargaining table with a goal of rich in contract agreement before the current contract runs out in just days. if that happens we can see a huge strike that could have implications across the country. amanda is live and mineral park this morning with where things stand right now. >> by the end of the month, upses workers are ready to strike

better chance of advancing in their job search. i don't understand it. drew: i don't, either. kumasi: i thought it was just me. drew: maybe it is one of those things where they are throwing every keyword possible just to get the attention of more eyes? maybe not directly corresponding to the specific job they might want. it is like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. kumasi: we live in the world of ai and if that is getting your resume out. it is really hard if you don't have a connection. we all know half the time sending in your resume is really hard to get noticed. a lot of these companies are using ai. if that is what it takes to get my resume to stand out. reggie: unless you are misrepresenting yourself. invisible word and maybe that is just something that makes your resume stand out.

drew: tiktoks and you look at the hashtags and it does not correspond with what the video is, but they just want to get with what is trending? i'm thinking that is what it is. kumasi: so people right now are looking for...? drew: you know when they used to put xyzabc on tiktok it made no sense just to get them on the page. jobina: so i could put engineering by saying i have covered engineers. drew: if engineering is trending but you are a cashier and you're just trying to get -- jobina: i engineered that register. kumasi: that's a lie. drew: you can enter anything, basically. i engineered my page in front of your face. jobina: i engineered this resume. drew: listen, whatever gets you the job, work smarter, not harder. i don't see a downside to this, i really don't.

that is more than 50 years of teaching the little ones how to get accustomed to the water. peggy has been teaching for so long she has even taught multiple generations of families how to swim. and peggy says she is not quitting anytime soon. >> it's just a joy in my i'm playing with them, i'm not working. i'm playing. kumasi: miss peggy creditor longevity to a clean diet and staying active. even when she is not teaching swim classes she says she does 10 to 12 laps in the pool on her off days. reggie: speaking of longevity, miss josie o'brien of st. louis, missouri just celebrated her 109th birthday over the weekend. it woman of many talents, she worked as a seamstress for over 20 years. so here are some thoughts on her 109th. >> trust in the lord with all your heart.
