morning. good morning, wednesday, july 26. drew: yesterday was warm, we call off today. live look outside showing it we have cloud cover overhead. the deeper marine layer this morning is going to bring about some of the cooler changes to the next 24 hours. temperatures now, mainly in the 50's close to the coast but still have mild air and yesterday we reached the mid and upper 90's, above average for this time of year. this morning, the 60 from concord to livermore. antioch, future weather, we will have the fog back to the coastline with a stronger onshore flow. the warming process is slower. you will notice cooler air later . instead of the 90's today, we will stay in the 80's. around the bay shoreline, 60's and 70's from the afternoon hide. 69 oakland, cooler air today

the reckless driver fired shots across lanes. there is more to the story. officers found the driver before 5:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of 80 on the oakland side. someone first called 91 one, saying a reckless driver flashed a gun. officers say the driver then stopped her car. she got out to yell while holding a knife. she returned to and then fired shots. one was hurt, she is in police custody for medical evaluation. kumasi: a new bill to se standard no parking area near crosswalks. it is an effort to make pedestrians more visible to drivers. >> whether you're a driver, bicyclist or pedestrian, you don't have to have the dangerous not look when there could be danger. kumasi: it would be at least 20

minutes and westbound on the san mateo bridge 13. kumasi: the san francisco board of supervisors sewing support for anchor brewing employees to own the company. gloria rodriguez joining us live in the newsroom with the story. >> the board of supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution showing support of workers running the brewery and continuing anchor brewing and their legacy. this happened during the meeting yesterday. you can see the video there. it addresses the owner of the anchor brewing company, to work with employees through the process of co-op conversion and not sell before workers have been able to make a fair bid. the iconic lurie established in 1896 has stopped operations. the historic business notified employees of the closure due to economic challenges. workers launched a bid to buy the 127-year-old brewery and run it as a co-op.

the spokesperson, the company says they will entertain a plan if the coalition has enough funding. they have the support of san francisco leaders to take over the brewery and time is running short. the company is moving ahead with liquidation as well as an -- reviewing interest from other potential buyers. gloria rodriguez, abc 7 news. kumasi: richmond's fire chief facing public criticism from his department. the firefighters union took a no-confidence vote against angel montoya. in a letter, the union accuses the chief of not doing enough to address low staffing issues. it also states that montoya is regularly absent from his office and city council meetings. the union also claims that has caused the department to lose funding. we reached out to the chief for comment. reggie: in declared a state of emergency because of a severe lack of

reggie: a crack in the palisades bluff has caused an emergency closure of a portion of the pacific coast highway it said monica. crews are using a crane to remove the column from top to bottom. a section of it could crash into the roadways so they would rather remove it to mice risk. >> because of the heavy rain we have experienced in december, january, we suspect that has caused this to develop. reggie: the city has no estimate on how much the emergency stabilization project will cost. crews will also take a look at other sections of the palisades bluffs need to be addressed. all of the routes will be reopened by noon today. kumasi: volunteers are racing to save dozens of pilot whales that have stranded themselves on a beach in western australia. more than 50 have died since yesterday morning.

this video shows some whales laying sideways or on their back. they are flipping their tails in the shallow water. researchers say they don't know why the whales got stranded at the pod showed the rare behavior of huddling together before beaching. they say could be that they were trying to avoid a predator like a killer whale. an ala warming could collapse the world's crucial system of ocean currents. the currents act as a giant conveyor belt and transport warm water from the tropics toward the north, spreading south. these currents regulate global weather patterns. if this breaks down we might see more extreme winters and rising sea levels and some predict this could happen as soon as 2025. others say this could be decades away if carbon emissions are cut to zero and if global temperatures go down.

reggie: we need to talk about this otter. people were complaining that it bothering them and other people flocking to bother it. fish and wildlife officials are still trying to capture this surfboard biting sea otter off the coast of santa cruz. it does not have a name, they call it 841. it has been attracting attention and now it is basically a tourist attraction which is a problem. photographer mark woodward has been following the attempt to capture her since july 2. he says last weekend drew especially large crowds. >> mainly people looking specifically for the otter. while most of them stayed on shore, it takes one or two in a kayak to chase after them to really disturb the ecosystem. they are sensitive and if you start to move toward them they are going to flee. this takes a lot of energy. that is energy they could use collecting food or taking care of their young. reggie: experts say you can
