shortage of police officers. amanda del castillo is live with the issue and how the situation could be improved. good morning. amanda: the main reason behind the declaration is so few police remain in the city. the interim police chief set it comes down to the department having trouble retaining and recruiting officers. what does this emergency declaration signal? the city will be allowed t streamline all available resources to the police department to try to address a staffing crisis. this is important after the interim chief levels are so low, the department is struggling to keep up with basic options. while the issues are especially bad in vallejo, justice studies experts say this is happening across the country. once they establish what is needed in policing, they say

supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution showing support of workers running the brewery and continuing the legacy. this happened during their meeting yesterday and you can see video. the resolution urges the owners of san francisco's anchor buried to work with employees -- anchor brewery to work with employees. they urge them to not sell before workers are able to make a fair bed. it was established in 1886 and has stopped operations. the business notified employees the closure is because of economic challenges. they lost a bid to buy the 27 -- to buy the brewery and run it as a co-op. while employees have the support of san francisco leaders to take over the brewery, time is running short. the company is moving ahead with

declaration signal? the city of vallejo will be allowed to dedicate as much resources as it needs department to assist with their staffing crisis. that is the main reason behind it as many -- so few police officers remain in the city. it is a total of 132 positions at the department for staffing levels are so bad that the department has 34 patrol officers, no traffic officers, and only four detectives. it can take anywhere from 18 to 24 months for a new recruit to be trained and get on their own. since memorial day has seen agency after agency reporting what the vallejo po is reporting. staffing levels are so low the department is struggling to keep up with basic functions. >> i did not feel safe. when the red starts going down,
