overall rates of death are back to how they were in 2019. a department of health spokesperson says that although the latest data shows inept to, rates remain lower than years prior. police are looking for who is responsible for a shooting last night, leaving one person injured. the incident happened around 830 10:00 p.m. near 19th street at broadway. one person was shot and then taken to the hospital. police say when they arrived, the victim told them they were not sure where the shooting happened. the oakland branch of the naacp, along with the local church, are calling for a state of emergency in oakland because of crime. the group wro letter to officials, calling for more resources in hopes of ending the crisis. they see the crime spilling into neighborhoods, even in broad daylight, has reached a boiling point. >> i think san francisco did it,

seen and is asking for the public's help. abc 7's tim johns went down the rabbit hole to find a source of the issue and what is being done. tim: her entire life, allison has loved animals. >> they are friendly. the thing is they all have different personalities. tim: that is why when she heard about pet rabbits being dumped in golden gate's hyde park, she knew she had to help. allison joined a group of volunteers led by an oakland woman named jessica to rescue some rabbits.allison says it was not easy to get them all thanks to the tall vegetation in the park. she says it took her and volunteers three days to get them all. >> the rabbit was in the and i was the smallest and i had already netted one, so they sent me in. tim: this is not an isolated incident. animal control says they and other shelters are overwhelmed with the number of rabbits coming in, any after being left in local parks. >> domestic rabbits should not

initiative. one reason to focus on recruiting women, well, when out in the field, reports show outcomes involving female officers tend to be better. >> there tends to be less instances of uses of force. i have seen in many ways, they are better leaders. gloria: tracy of the police officers association believes the department needs to come up with more incentives to make joining more attractive to women, especially for those who are working mothers. one suggestion includes reliable childcare. several departments have gone the extra mile to recruit more officers. everything from signing bonuses and extra pay to tv ads. san francisco is finally seeing some results. is it enough to make up for those who have retired or step down? here is abc 7's lyanne melendez. lyanne: this is someth francisco police have not seen in recent years, a higher number

gloria: riverside county fire is investigating a fire that started thursday afternoon. claims first ignited in a county and spread yesterday. nearly 2000 acres have been burned and only 5% has been contained. no nearby homes or structures have been destroyed, but evacuation orders are still in place for residents in the area. san francisco is hoping that artificial intelligence business will help it bounce back from the pandemic. vacant office space is at an all-time high. right now, there are at least 300 postings for ai jobs in the bay area. >> there are a lot of accounts

it is not going to be as hot this weekend, right? shayla: yes, you said it. we are getting relief from the heat, but that there had the right idea, especially as parts of california see warm temperatures. we are seeing a little bit warmer temperatures than we saw earlier in the week, especially inland. temperatures in the 90's. we are not talking about what we saw last weekend. no record-breaking temperatures, no triple digits. waking up to a little fog along the coast and the bay this morning. for the most part, that will burn off by the afternoon. by next week, we have a nice little cooling trend coming our way. we will be below average as we head into about midweek. a nice little cool down for us for our week. once we get through the weekend, speaking of this weekend, we have the marine layer to start the morning. by this afternoon, that clears out. not going to seek too much cloud coverage for us this saturday, but we will notice clouds and the marine layer along the bay.
