[laughter] dion: the shows may be over, b business is booming. the taylor swift effect on the south bay economy. i am dion lim. you are watching abc seven news at 11:00. we begin with sharing the warning signs coming in for the opioid overdose crisis. tara: the one-year-ol running around, a relief for this woman who's has a couple of days ago, her french bulldog was likely exposed to fentanyl in the neighborhood. >> it was so heart-wrenching. linsey: -- tara: as they began walking home from the park, she says

something went wrong. >> at first, it was a squeal, and she kept moaning and moaning , and i said, rory. they take her in to the vet, and they say we see this every day. they come out four minutes later and tell me she is wide-awake. they gave her a narcan shot immediately and. brought her back within seconds. tara: the fda approved narcan for sale over the march, and this week, a second approval to a nonprofit pharmaceutical company. >> 200 americans die every day from opioid overdose, and what is amazing we have a safe antidote. tara: this is the cfo of therapeutics. >> our goal is to make our product, which is a naloxone

at that point. it will be mild throughout the day, 90 degrees inland, 60 on the coast, and by 7:00 p.m., we see the marine layer deepening and expanding. temperatures dropping to the upper 70's inland, mid 60's around the bay, and upper 50's for the coast. then we have the cooling for later. i will talk about that in the seven-day accuweather forecast. dion: as we get into august this week, good news about the state's wildfire season. we have seen the slowest season in 25 years, and you can thank intense winter storms from earlier this year. the national interagency fire center tells our media partners less than 25,000 acres have burned in the state since january 1. that is 82% less than any year since 1998. california's soaking attributed to the mild fund -- fire season.

firefighters say they need the break after years of drought and catastrophic fires. and you can see where any fire is burning in the state by using our interactive live wildfire tracker. it also shows you air quality. you can find this up now at abc7news.com. now to the surrounding the san francisco-based company formally known as twitter. elon musk is angering some near the x headquarters on market street. friday night, the company unveiled their new logo, complete with big strobe lights, and it is confusing more than just neighbors. j.r. stone is in for san francisco tonight with the story. j.r.: this pulsing x light is the top of the market neighborhood. the x, which sits atop twitter headquarters, signifies twitter's three band -- re-brand and name change. the light was on friday night

and some from this building and this other building across the street were not so happy about it. >> i think it is way too bright. it was flashing directly into my apartment and lit up my entire place. >> too bright. >> from below, we were walking our dog, and we saw it. then we get upstairs and we see that it is so bright. j.r.: elon musk posted this video showing the x lp. city officials say they have opened an investigation into the sign, saying that a building permit is required to make sure the sign is structurally sound and installed safely. planning review and approval is also necessary for the installation of this sign. the city is opening a complaint and initiating an investigation. sunday, the twitter letters were completely removed from the sign, leaving just the x. tech analyst rob angeli.

final farewell. tomorrow is expected to be the last day the public tabs wi opened at anchor brewing. last month, the brewery announced it was going out of business. flat -- fans have been flocking to the brewhouse. several groups have expressed interest on bidding and continuing on the brewery. nordstrom shoppers, mark your calendars. sunday, august 27, will be the last day of business for the nordstrom at san francisco mall. that is according to our media partners at the sf standard. words from announced it would close its san francisco store in may along with the nordstrom rack from across the street. it opened five new nordstrom rack's story across the state.

are looking at a tesla in a pool after it came crashing through a wall. the they heard a big crash back on friday, saying they had just finished landscaping before it happened. >> my worst nightmare came true. there was a tesla. >> i have no idea what happened. dion: the good news is no one was injured. another driver caused that crash, according to police. the tesla driver was on his way to work when another driver crashed into him, causing that chain reaction crash. 3.6 magnitudeua shook morgan hill at 7:00 along e laveras fault. no injuries or damage was reported, but there are reports of people feeling the shaking as far north as san francisco.

there are happy taylor swift fans and it is good for the local businesses. let's look at what is boosting us into the week in terms of weather conditions. we have calm winds in most locations right now, but you have 25 mile-per-hour winds in fairfield. you can see it is pretty calm everywhere else. here is a live view from our rooftop camera looking across the embarcadero. 57 degrees in san francisco right now. 61 in mountain view and san jose, palo alto at 62 degrees. looking across the bay from emeryville, you just see some low clouds beginning to develop. we do not have much of a marine layer yet. 61 at napa, mid 60's in fairfield and concord, and 62 degrees in livermore. one final view from our exploratorium camera. a few high clouds off in the

distance. these are the four heaviest -- forecast headlines. mild to warm tomorrow, and we can expect widespread cooling beginning on tuesday. here's the forecast taking us through the overnight hours. notice the increase in high clouds. a few patches of low clouds through the coast and bay. by midmorning, we will see those clouds thinning out and skies becoming brighter. overnight low temperatures will be mainly in the low to mid 50's. as you move farther inland, get warmer. the highs tomorrow, 59 at half moon bay, 60 six in san francisco, 72 across the bay in oakland. most areas will top out in the 70's tomorrow. most other inland locations not reach 90 tomorrow, and then we start cooling down on tuesday. high temperatures on tuesday will barely reach the mid-80's.

same range of highs on wednesday, and a similar range on thursday, but then we start to warm up again. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. after three relatively cool days with high temperatures slightly below average for this time of year, it starts warming up again on friday. on saturday and sunday, it gets really warm. inland areas, mid to upper 80's on saturday, and at least a couple of locations hitting or breaking the 100th mark next sunday. cooling down and warming up, but brief patterns, not extended heat waves or cool downs. dion: or extended rain periods. spencer: although we could use some rain in the marina. dion: it did help us out with the fire season. still ahead tonight, he is a music icon in his own right. how he 40 is

>> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. dion: are getting a break from the sun as storms move through the midwest and east coast. while those areas cool down, much of the south will be dealing with temperatures in the triple digits. here is abc news reporter rhiannon allie. >> severe thunderstorms along the east coast saturday bring -- brought about much relief from the heat. washington, d.c. seeing wind gusts up to 84 miles per hour, the strong winds bringing down trees and power lines. >> it was a lot of wind and rain pounding for at least a half hours straight. it was just really pounding, coming down. rhiannon: a powerful image from the tomb of the unknown soldier, the storm not keeping the guard from his duty.

southwest. places like las vegas have been dealing with extreme heat for weeks. as july comes to an end, scientists have declared it earth's warmest month ever recorded. dion: as the planet warms up and parts of the country sizzle under triple digit heat waves, air conditioning has become top of mind for the biden administration. one in 10 households lack ac and are more likely to be low income people of color. that is according to the brookings institution. >> folks who are most impacted by climate change are communities of color, rural communities, and communities who are lower income. >> i don't want to believe these leaders think that my kids are not worth it and your kids are not worth it. our children are worth it, and we are worth it to bring a better future. dion:

at the beginning of this interview, but you are a pro. you do switch that. >> that his confidence, one of the main lessons they are learning. for the past three kids from half moon bay's working families have been enjoying a free summercamp hosted by the nonprofit alas, and learning to serve has been one of the highlights. today is actually the first time that many of these kids are getting in the water. their excitement is louder than the crashing waves. >> it is important for all kids to have the access to experience what the ocean feels like and embrace the unknown. >> in the water, we spotted familiar face, the san francisco supervisor. >> where is your suit? >> i am wearing one. >> several of the kids

the adoption event came with a creative twist. people got to meet and cuddle with elderly dogs at the lawn. this is about the many pets featured in disney movies. stations were also set up to do live sketching's of the dogs. >> inside the gallery, we have features of adopted dogs around the bay area to get more eyes on them so they can find homes. dion: the exhibition is open through january 14, with the museum open thursday through monday. disney is the parent company of abc 7. still ahead tonight, another viral online post, an object being thrown at performers on stage. cardi b is the latest high-profile person to be pelted , and it is one in a disturbing trend. spencer: it is a calm and cool night along the bay area, and we are looking forward to a midweek cooldown.

dion: the internet is latching onto the latest incident of fans throwing things at performers on stage, this time an item thrown at rapper cardi b. dion: there you go. you see cardi b fling her microphone back at the person who threw her drink at her during a weekend performance in las vegas. she continued her set afterwards. this is the latest in a trend of celebrities getting pelted by objects from the crowd, notably bebe rexha, harry styles, and drake. bebe rexha was hit with a phone last month, giving her an eye injury.
