6:04 am
be a problem for neighbors living nearby, especially when up against the night sky. now at this hour the x is atop the twitter headquarters or x headquarters, i should say, here on market street. and it isn't on, but it was on friday. and for elon musk, it might be the sign of a name change, but for others it was a nightmare. musk posted a video showing the x all lit up. as i mentioned, it's currently sitting atop twitter headquarters calling attention to the company's official rebrand and name change to the letter x. residents tell us the light was off saturday night as well, but was on strobing and bright on friday, city officials confirmed they're looking into it, saying, quote, a building permit is required to make sure the sign is structurally sound and installed safely. planning review and approval is also necessary for the installation of this sign. the city is opening a complaint and initiating an investigation. many neighbors we spoke with were not happy with the bright lights beaming into their homes.
6:05 am
>> i think it's way too bright. it was flashing directly into my apartment and just lit up my entire place and too bright. >> yeah, i would say too bright from below. >> we were walking our dog and we saw it and we were like, oh wow, what a spectacle. and then we get upstairs and we see like the ramifications of it. it's so bright and ridiculous. >> on sunday, the twitter letters were completely removed from the sign. outside company headquarters. this left just the x many tech experts maintain this is probably one of the worst times to do a brand change considering the platform was having trouble retaining users, adding whenever companies change their identity, it's assumed they're going to also lose a certain amount of customers as a result. but back out live the x still not shining, but supporters of both x and musk say he's never been one. to be subtle, and his rebranding has certainly become the talk of the town. the x being on brand for musk as well as what they say.
