former president trump faces a new arraignment today. >> he'll head from his golf resort in new jersey to washington this afternoon to answer to felony charges related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. >> overnight is former attorney general bill barr spoke out about the case and the argument being made by trump's attorney. >> abc's em nguyen is outside the federal courthouse in washington with the very latest. and good morning. good morning, andrew. >> security is tight here at the courthouse, especially after that security scare at the capitol just blocks from here. overnight, police officers putting up metal barriers around the federal courthouse in washington. hours ahead of former president trump's arraignment where trump will face charges in connection with his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. the heightened security also on display on capitol hill yesterday. which way you guys? out this way. >> now sent people scrambling

after a 911 caller reported an active shooter triggering the evacuation of senate office buildings. >> police are trying to trace the source of the call, which they say turned out to be bogus . that security scare just blocks from the courthouse where trump will have the opportunity to enter a plea this afternoon. a grand jury indicted him on four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the us. he denies all wrongdoing related to the 2020 election. former attorney general bill barr last night released affected the argument made by trump's lawyer , who insists that trump's false claims about election fraud amount to free speech. >> he can say whatever he wants . he can even lie. he can even tell people that that that the election was was stolen when he when he knew better. but but that does not protect you from entering into a conspiracy. all conspiracies involve speech and all fraud involves speech and former vice president mike pence

to hear from him. we love you, travis. >> come home this morning. >> the family of travis king, the army private who ran from south korea into north korea last month, is speaking out. >> it feels like i'm in a big nightmare. >> the 23 year old was supposed to fly to texas to face disciplinary action after spending 47 days in a south korean jail for an altercation with locals. but instead of boarding his flight, king left the airport and joined a civilian tour of the demilitarized zone. the heavily fortified area separating north and south korea. >> travis would not just go over the border like that. he he's the type of kid he would have wanted to come home. you know, he knew just going across that border, it's basically just committing suicide at and i can't see him doing that. >> king reportedly pictured here dressed in black, just moments before dashing across the border where he was reportedly taken away in a van. >> we don't know if he's if he's eating. we don't know if he's being tortured. we don't know if

he's being interrogated. we don't know anything. we don't even know if he's really there, because the only thing that we have is a picture of a black man standing from the back side and them saying travis king ran across the border. >> just this week, the pentagon said north korea has sent a message confirming king's crossing and saying the incident is under investigation. and coming up later on good morning america, more of that interview with king's family and secretary of state antony blinken weighs in live. the state department has confirmed the death of another american in ukraine, this time in a drone attack. >> but no name has been released. drone attacks have been escalating on both sides of the conflict, but russia has been targeting ukraine's grain industry, causing a spike in grain prices worldwide. a judge is expected to impose a death sentence today on the shooter who killed 11 people in a pittsburgh synagogue. >> the jury found robert bowers was motivated by his hatred of jews when he carried out the attack in 2018. victims relatives say they're relieved that some measure of justice has

been served. >> i feel like a weight has been lifted and i can breathe a sigh of relief. may my father's light shine eternally and his memory, along with the ten other victims forever, be a blessing. >> anyone affected by the attack will be able to address bowers today during sentencing. now to the southern border and the growing controversy over boys and razor wire installed to deter migrants. >> it comes amid reports that families are once again being separated after they arrive in texas. here's abc's andrea fujii. >> this morning, a disturbing discovery along the rio grande. security officials finding a body trapped in the boy's recently placed in the river across from eagle pass, texas. texas governor greg abbott has been using the boys and razor wire to prevent migrants from attempting river crossings. it's the only way we can cross, he says. the mexican government

condemning the boys, saying we express our concern about the impact on the human rights and personal safety of migrants. another concern at the border. dozens of families now claim texas state troopers have been separating families while detaining fathers on trespassing charges. the texas department of public safety say children have never been taken from their mothers, but there have been instances in which is arrested male migrants on state charges who were with their family when the alleged crime occurred. it's a policy shift from 2021, when officials in texas were told to keep families together. abc's erielle reshef spoke with one family separated for more than two weeks after trying to migrate from colombia. >> como nunca like i never imagined before, it was a moment i couldn't control that i worked extremely hard to create a home and that it was going to be destroyed and we would be denied all because of a decision. >> meanwhile, big cities in the north, including new york, are feeling the impact of the immigration crisis. new york city is struggling to take in

from the trailer. and a sticky situation in arkansas when cans of nachos cheese covered this road. traffic was tied up for hours. >> now to the daring escape from what's being described as a dungeon. the fbi says a woman was able to flee from a suspected rapist and they say there could be many more victims out there in several states. here's abc's matt gutman. >> the fbi says a young woman fought tooth and nail to free herself from this cinderblock cell to escape from a man they allege is a serial rapist. >> the woman fought for her life beating the doors and the walls of this cell with bloodied hands as the fbi naming 29 year old nagashi zuberi as the suspect, saying he had many other aliases. >> but whose career as an alleged predator living in plain sight began to unravel in seattle on july 15th, when he is accused of posing as a police officer. he kidnaped a prostitute. according to the complaint, zuberi drove her 450

miles to his home in klamath falls, oregon. they say he then locked her in this makeshift cell. cinder blocks a naked light bulb. that hard backed chair and some water when she was trying to escape the cell itself, she had repeatedly punched it with her own hands. >> she broke free and waved down a passing motorist asking for their help to call 911. >> the next day, officials capturing zuberi in this walmart parking lot in reno, nevada. the complaint saying there was a standoff with zuberi in the car with his children. authorities already recovering these disturbing handwritten notes and one he jotted, dig a hole straight down 100ft. another entitled operation takeover describes what appear to be best practices for a kidnaping investigators say the suspect was linked to four additional violent sexual assaults in four other states. they say they know that he's lived in ten states total since 2016. and they fear that there may be additional victims. it's why they're asking anyone with information to contact the fbi. matt gutman,

battle over the popular drugs ozempic and manjaro increasingly being used for weight loss. it comes as some patients report so-called stomach paralysis. this morning, the manufacturers of ozempic and manjaro, the diabetes drug popular for aiding and weight loss, are facing a lawsuit regarding alleged side effects. oh oh seven. demand for ozempic and manjaro exploded as people documented their success stories using the drugs which are approved to treat type two diabetes but can also be prescribed off label for weight loss. sharon osborne shared her experience, saying she was constantly nauseous. >> for me, the first few weeks was because you just throw up all the time and feel so nauseous. really? >> yeah. in the new lawsuit, a woman says she lost 150 pounds, but claims the manufacturers failed to adequately warn about the risk of gastroparesis, a condition in which the movement of food out of the stomach slows or stops. she has not yet been officially diagnosed with the condition, and her problems have
