patients are hospitalized with severe pneumonia like symptoms and they tested positive for legionnaires' disease and through the investigation they found that both patients had visited the day spa here in richmond just days before getting sick. one patient died thursday, the other died friday morning. the county is learning now that this facility may have never even been permitted to operate. the bacteria is found in water like lakes and streams, but the concern is when it grows into warm water systems like a pool or hot toe. because it has never been audited, the county has no records of previous health inspections. the results from testing are due back next week. health -- health officials want to emphasize legionnaires' disease is treatable. the incubation period after

exposure is usually too-14 days. that is why public officials are asking -- anyone who visited the spot the last two weeks to get tested. >> this is treatable if detected early. it is highly unlikely to be spread from one person to another person. the way you get this bacteria is because it lives and water droplets, especially situations where there is pooling of water, it allows the water -- the bacteria to grow in the water and when it is aerosolized that is when the individual can inhale it in their lungs. anser: the county is offering the services for free. the business owners are operating -- cooperating in this operation. reporting live. abc7news. zach: thank you.

the last known cases of legionnaires' disease in the bay area happened in last august in san jose. a co contracted this at an aloft hotel. they were both treated of the hospital and survive. the health officials trace the bacteria to the hot tub of a hotel. thank you for joining us in zach fuentes. the next police chief of oakland -- had residents speaking up about what they are looking for in a new chief. abc7news reporter co-narrow -- cornell barnard was there. >> we need someone that is extremely brave, fearless, and truthful. cornell there were a lot of : ideas about what qualities oakland's next police chief should have. >> that person should realize this is a very difficult job. cornell: a small, but vocal group at the first community forum hosted by the oakland police commission about what the community hopes for in the next leader. >> we want input on what kind of chief the community wants to see
