moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. >> joining us. i am j.r. stone. four people have been taken to the hospitals after a water rescue in alameda. the rescue took place this afternoon near shoreline park, by the ferry terminal, and it is still unclear for -- what went wrong. all four victims were together in one watercraft which sank during the rescue. one person suffered cardiac arrest, that victim's condition is not know right now. three others were taken to a hospital for observation, but they are expected to be ok. none of the victims have been identified. hundreds of marchers from across the bay area are brave and warm weather and long distances this weekend in the name of immigration reformundocumented residents and their allies a taking part into marches, logging a combined 90 miles over

>> san raphael after standing -- starting their track in petaluma. this group also called reform, specifically they want congress to pass hr 1511, known as the registry bill, which would allow approximately 8 million undocumented people currently living in the u.s. to apply for legal permanent residency. >> people should have a safety net when there is a pandemic or wildfires. that is why we are walking for three days. so that both democrats and republicans will see the urgency of passing the registry bill. >> this is the destination for both marches. the two groups will meet here at the san francisco federal building for a rally on monday afternoon. >> we hope that everybody can hear us and hopefully it is not just up -- 150 people, i hope it is 1000, and they show up. >> advocates plan more action

most vocations that hit 100 degrees are still at 100 degrees. it won't cool down a lot tonight, near the coast not so bad, 50's there, mid-60's everywhere else. i will show you what we can expect cooler days in my accuweather forecast a little bit later. >> we have seen some wild morning after scenes as a result of dangerous shy -- the bay area. this one is -- sideshows across the bay area. this one is unusual. a car for shout of the marina. it is the result of a sideshow at the marina and smiths landed parking lot sunday night. the car was submerged and had to be towed out of the water. another driver crash in the parking lot and sheared open a fire hydrant. a third driver from the sideshow also crashed near 10th and g. three people were injured and taken to the hospital. unions representing more than 4000 san jose city employees

expect to announce the results of a possible strike vote tomorrow. earlier this week they conducted an in person strike authorization vote across san jose. that vote could lead to a three day work stoppage. the union is seeking larger pay raises for city workers. the city is offering a 5% raise in 2024. 4% in 2025. and 3% in 2026. but the unions say those are not enough. a press conference is set to take place tomorrow morning at 8:30 outside of city hall. tomorrow marks the first day of the school year at oakland unified schools. can you believe it, back already. last week, students and teachers were gearing up for the new. 1600 students and parents took part in registration week events at oakland high school, 34,000 students will return to campuses across oakland. nearby school districts like wrigley, san francisco and

alameda all start at least a week after open unified. former president donald trump out on the campaign trail this weekend, the last week he was arraigned on charges tied to his alleged attempts to overturn the toys for the election. his legal team is previewing how they will handle one potential key witness, former president mike pence. jay o'brien has more. >> days after his arraignment on charges of overturning the 2020 election, former president donald trump is on the campaign trail in alabama and south carolina. >> i am data for you. i really believe that he is mentally ill. >> he is already being watched by prosecutors who alerted the judge overseeing the case to a trump social media post made friday reading that if you go after me, i am coming after you. trump team has called the

post-political speech, but the special counsel's office wants the judge to limit what evidence the president can discuss out of concern that he might enter a date witnesses. he is now giving his legal team until monday to respond. considered central to the special counsel's case, the former vice president and now opponent mike pence reiterated sunday on cnn that trump was wrong to ask him to throughout electoral votes. >>'s lawyers said that you want to reject votes outright. they were asking me to overturn the election. i had no right to overturn the election. >> john lohr reacted on abc's this week. >> he said what he did was wrong, and he knew what -- it was wrong and he was pressing to do some the wrong. he also said it was never criminal, but not wrong. -- wrong but not criminal. >> lied m its new independent strict -- church status.
