returning later on today. let's get a check of traffic with jobina. jobina: metering lights came on at 5:32 and not much of a backup at all at the bay bridge toll plaza. no fog advisory issued for the golden gate bridge, but we have over the fog rest -- a bit of fog resting over the area at the moment. we also have a stall on the san mateo bridge as you make your way into the city, the drivetime is around 25 minutes. not officially slow yet. it will be dry across the bridge after you make it through the metering lights. reggie: san jose leaders will meet today to discuss wage issues brought up by city workers who are preparing to strike unless a deal can be made. more than 4000 city employees are prepared to walk off the job a week from today. amanda del castillo is live in san jose. amanda? amanda: a call to action by the south bay labor council, asking

colleagues to voice their support for thousands of city workers who voted overwhelmingly to authorize that strike. the labor council is directing people to come out for public comment during today's scheduled council meeting. the group posting this to social media after 10:00 last night, saying they need all hands on deck to pack the chambers, saying this is the last chance to avert a strike. they are inviting people to share their experiences when it comes to san jose's vacancy crises and how it has impacted their work and services for residents. the city of san jose has nearly 800 job vacancies, a 12 percent vacancy rate. three days of striking will kick off if no deal is reached before then. the deals involved include airport workers, city librarians, and others. 4500 city workers in all. they want better wages and

better working conditions. >> they are leaving for neighboring cities that are willing to offer better wages and better working conditions. >> every matters, but everything we had over 5% this year requires a cut. amanda: the mayor s is prepared to use existing staff and contractors to fill any gaps open during the three-day strike. where those gaps are specifically, they are still to be determined with the labor board and at the state level. council members are expected to meet in closed session to discuss those wages. let me toss back to you guys. we are live in san jose this morning. kumasi: and city workers in los angeles are holding a one-day walk out today, saying city leaders have negotiated in bad faith. jobina is at the live desk with this when he for our action.

everywhere. the strike comes at a time when l.a. has hundreds of vacancies and union members have had to carry the weight of all of that. reggie? reggie: a critical vote this week could set off a new wave of robo-taxi fleets. this driverless cars in san francisco. we have seen these cars stopped in intersections and cause backups, leading to strong opposition. janine nicholson voiced her opposition to the expansion of self-driving services, saying the cars have blocked fire engines, ambulances, and fire stations. a carnegie mellon professor who specializes in self-driving car safety says the fire chief makes points. >> the big problem here, these cars are not good at dealing with the unexpected.

that's a fundamental limitation to the technology. reggie: one of the big supporters of the expansion is former mayor willie brown, who says he is tired of the emergency response argument. >> the police department and the fire department clearly know exactly how to access you or i if we are in need of them, no matter what the traffic situation is. they have to live with that. reggie: as for the sfmta, they are excited about automated driving, but do not support 24 hour service expansion across the city. changes are coming to the antioch marina after a car went careening into the water during a sideshow. the car got pulled from the water early sunday morning, then another driver lost control, crashing in the fire -- parking lot and shearing off a fire hydrant. the marina will be locked from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and

police chief john cregan says the city attorney is going after 13 sideshow promoters in it will court. they are seeking fines of $25,000 from each defendant. the city is also impounding cars used in sideshows and have installed traffic delineators around where the sideshows have been happening. >> one thing we want to make very clear, we will not tolerate this dangerous and illegal behavior on the streets of santa rosa. kumasi: police believe enforcement is working, they have already seen an increase diminishing sideshow r this project generated controversy because some groups said it would negatively affect air quality and traffic. an environmental review found minimal impact to the neighborhood.

70's and 80's away from the coast. hi, jobina. jobina: hi, drew. check out this picture from the san mateo bridge. traffic basically stopped in the westbound direction. we have a sig alert due to a crash on the incline lanes blocked. when we tracked the drivetime to get across the bridge in the westbound direction, it is one hour 15 minutes right now. usually, if you take the san mateo bridge traveling westbound, you are looking at 28 minutes or so. speeds resting around five miles per hour, and a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, where metering lights came on at 5:32. kumasi: a last ditch effort to avoid a strike by san jose city workers. the city leaders are discussing issues that are prompting workers to walk off the job next week.

amanda, some of these workers make it vocal support from members at the city council meeting today. amanda: we are expected to see growing support for the thousands of unionized city workers who voted overwhelmingly in support of proving that strike. next tuesday for three days, as many as 4500 city workers could walk off the job if no deal is reached before then. overnight, the south bay labor council voted on a strike sanction. they then posted to social media, asking colleagues to pack social -- pack council chambers this weekend. lots of members of off either rising -- authorizing the strike. hundreds of city workers, including airport workers, city

libraries, and the city is prepared to use existing staff and contractors to help will any gaps open during the three-day strike. however, where those job gaps will be specifically has to be determined with the labor board at the state level. >> we are going through the process now to strike with the bargaining unit, but my overarching message is, let's get back to mediation. >> we know our demands are fair and the city can afford them. amanda: the city is offering a 5% raise this year raise next quarter or after. although every dollar matters, the city says they have to be honest about the math. a 5% raise next year will require a cut, meaning layoffs

hearing. jobina has more on the request from jack smith. jobina: former president trump's attorney has accused jack smith of trying to stifle trump's freedom of speech. the d.c. federal judge is giving both sides until noon our time to propose dates and times for a pretrial hearing about smith's protective order filing, and that includes requests for calling for a court imposed limit to what trump can share about the 2020 in -- election interference case. if trump were to share grand jury information, it could have harmful effects on witnesses. he also said it would adversely affect on the very administration of justice. he cited trump's recent social media post, that said "if you come after me, i am coming after you." trump's campaign team defended the post as political speech.
