workers threatening to go on strike next week. this is after workers took their demands directly to the council. amenity castilian is live with these development -- amanda o'dea castilian is live with these developments. amanda: at least one of the two unions involved confirms they will be returning to the bargaining table to speak with the city in an effort to reach an agreement before next tuesday. we are still waiting on confirmation from the second union. workers want higher wages, better working conditions, and are asking the city to address a vacancy crisis. the city of san jose has 800 job vacancies lately, that is a 12% rate. this morning several dozen members of unions met with local 101 and ifp local 21 spoke before city council in person and over a zoom,

public comment as the city's last chance to avert strike in the last chance to share personal experiences with city leaders. yesterday afternoon the south bay labor council sent a letter to the san jose city manager, a formal notification of a strike sanction indicating, explaining all one heard one of its unions will be -- all 101 of its unions will be notified and encouraged not to cross picket lines. >> please listen to us, help us help the community or we will go on strike. >> i do want to assure you city council is working very hard to balance the many needs we face as a city and do everything we can to make the right trade-offs. amanda: addressed workers following hours of public comment before going into closed session. he has previously said anything

ohio special election with nature implications for abortion access in the state. voters rejected proposal one, proposal that would have required raising the thresholds to amend the states constitution. jobina: issue one would've called for a 60% supermajority to make changes to the constitution in simple majority. voters rejected that manager. what does this mean for ohio? it was put forth before november, when voters decide whether to enshrine abortion in the state constitution. if the amendment passed it would have made it harder for that amendment to pass in november. >> the constitution is under attack. >> it was important to protect my rights as a woman and the abortion protection so i wanted to vote no. jobina: the antiabortion rights

about the island of maui. the national guard has been activated to help fight fires on maui and the big island after state of emergency was declared yesterday. officials say extreme winds fueled by hurricane dora are driving the flames. local media reports say most of a historic town has been destroyed. last night people in that town were forced to jump into the harbor to get away from the flames. drew is tracking those conditions. drew: unfortunately we are very familiar with these conditions that create these fires. let's look at the red flag warning currently in effect for hawaii until 6:00 this evening. we have strong winds that have a high-wind warning in effect. let's take you down to maui county. live doppler 7 is picking up right here on the smoke from that fire coming into a very popular tourist area.

our reporter is live in san jose with the latest. amanda: at least one of two unions involved confirms it will be back at the bargaining table for mediation with the city of san jose. this is an effort to stop the strike that is already planned for next tuesday. if not, 4500 city employees, including those working at the airport and city libraries are prepared to strike. many of them speaking before city council yesterday morning. their pleas over public comment characterized as the group's last chance to get the city to avert a strike in the last chance to share personal experiences with city leaders. ifpte l will be back at the bargaining table today. we are waiting on confirmation from others on whether they will return.

carry a one-year prison sentence. a police chief says one of the men is in custody in selma, alabama and he expects the other to be in custody shortly. reggie: the whole thing is just unbelievable. now for your morning money report. financial service company moody's has warned it is reviewing six large banks for a possible downgrade. the company says the warning reflects the ongoing strain in the u.s. banking sector. a lower credit rating could push funding cost for those banks higher. the news led to a selloff of bank stocks bank which led to the larger stock market yesterday. now we will see what is happening on the new york stock exchange. we are almost at zero. up three points this morning. kumasi: new developments in the saga of a famous bear in lake tahoe known as hank the tank. she was captured and now she has been moved to a wildlife sanctuary in colorado. lena howland is joining us with

the latest. lena: dna evidence has tied hank the tank to break-ins at 21 homes from the beginning of last year to just recently. hank, who is a female, cubs were just captured. california fish and wildlife captured her on monday for evaluation. she was picked up from the animal sanctuary in colorado and arrived in colorado yesterday afternoon sanctuary in colorado -- in california had room. they spoke about the decision on our show yesterday. they say hank was separated from her cubs because officials say she is not a candidate for rehabilitation and will live out the rest of her life on the animal sanctuary. >> there was such a rap sheet for her and she had these three cubs. on july 21 one of the cubs was
