official to a traffic jam he is coming dangerous and unnecessary. at another site shows care. this one involving fire and fireworks. abc7news starts now. >> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. no alarm. no text that was telling us we needed to evacuate. >> five days since the start of the deadly wildfires still burning in maui. comments from many fire victims are starting to turn from fear and despair to anger. thank you for joining us on abc7news at 5:00. i am j.r. stone. let's get to the latest. 93 people have died from the wildfires, at least, marking the deadliest national disaster in u.s. history, just a small percent of the fire zone has been scorched -- search, with officials describing troubling scenes as they try to find and

identify remains. according to the pacific disaster center, more than 2200 structures were damaged or destroyed on maui, and the town was decimated in a matter of a few hours. melissa hayden has the latest from maui where some of the locals are starting to show frustration. >> teams continue to search the rubble of the historic town of lahaina, looking for victims or possible survivors of the deadly fires which tore through parts of maui tuesday. >> this is the largest natural disaster we have ever experienced. it is also going to be a natural disaster which is going to take an incredible amount of time >> to recover from. >>more than 22 hundred structures damage, the flames burning more than 2100 acres. >> patients, prayers, and perseverance. that is what we needs. -- me. many expressing anger at the local government. >> there was no alert, no alarm, no text.

>> i saw no management of the situation whatsoever. >> authorities responding overnight saying that the speed of dachshund to -- and intensity of the flame made it difficult to warn residents. fema has been authorized to bring in all of its partners to help with the recovery. and the president appeared to suggest that he would visit the devastated areas. thousands of people after their homes were destroyed, and mesic -- many residents still unaccounted for. >> we are looking for missing relatives. >> they are now working together to try to reunite families. one resident created a public spreadsheet where people can track down their loved ones. by early sunday, nearly 5000 names were on the list. and throughout the weekend, long lines of residents trying to get back into their homes. >> they won't let us there. >> access through that main

roadblock is for emergency crews only. they are asking residents to take an alternate route, and some locals describe that dangerous route. j.r.: dockworkers up and down the california coast are stepping up to get critical supplies to maui residents who have been devastated by wildfires. as abc7news -- as a reporter show sets, here in san francisco there is still time to get your donations on the boat. >> one pallet at a time, bay area dockworkers determined to get at least one container filled and set to sea, providing much-needed supplies to those devastated in the maui wildfires. >> toiletries, feminine products, clothing, garbage bags, pet food. >> this is a member of international longshore and warehouse union, and she says it is expected to take about 13 days for this shipment to dock. >> this container will go to the

port of oakland and be loaded on the ship, and go to hawaii. >> the container, located at mason street, capturing the attention of san francisco tourists. these two are visiting from australia, a country that has seen its own wildfire wrath. check out the hat. this is a firefighting family. >> we have seen what they've gone through. >> the cou donation to help keep supplies coming in. >> this is home for me because it's my favorite family vacation. i was hoping to bring my family there at the end of the year. >> in los angeles, their union counterparts are playing their part. >> it took us back because some of our members are missing through the fires. and the hotel workers who lost their homes and the places to work. >> and gary herrera is the president of local 13.

>> when they reached out to us about local 42 out in hawaii and said we need help, this was a no-brainer. we were going to do this no matter what. >> back in san francisco, a message from maui. -- from maui. >> we wish all the best, and good on you. you're fantastic. j.r.: certainly hits overly hard. donations of all kind -- kinds continue to pour in. one central kitchen tweeted this video today, a convoy of trucks heading to maui with meals for first responders and families. that's the area of hawaii which has been most affected by the fire damage. a lot of people want to know what they can do to help go to abc7news.com where you will find a list of fundraisers, charities, and verified nonprofits who are all helping the people of hawaii recover from the wildfire. the images seem to get more alarming.

another weekend and another dangerous scene from a barrier sideshow, this one involving both fire and fireworks. j.r.: injuries, but this one ended with a car fire. this is one of multiple sideshows that happened in vallejo and oakland. people are getting dangerously close to spinning cars, some even lighting fireworks. sharp words today from the president of san francisco's board of supervisors about the expense and of self -- expansion of self-driving car technology. a friday night fiasco where crews rubble taxis became disabled across town. this is what it looked like in north beach, the heart of the supervisors district. 10 driverless cars stalled, creating gridlock. this is a day after the state public utilities commission gave the ok for cruise and waymo to

>> oh my gosh. >> while these are great and the performers are wonderful, i don't know if there stevie wonder. >> well, at least we had great weather this year. even with a little bit of morning mist, the sun came through in the middle of the day and burned off the cooling morning mist. here is a larger view of the active weather to our east, over the sierra, thunderstorms all over the place moving into the central valley. in the bay area we are getting a few passing high clouds, and a nice little breeze, 22 miles per hour right now, most other locations 16-18 miles per hour. not much to talk about really here, the 24 hour temperature change except that the difference between the inland areas which are two or three degrees warmer than this time yesterday and places like oakland or hayward which are cooler than they work at this time yesterday. here's the deal from circle tower looking over san francisco

, to maturities at 67 degrees, oakland 31 degrees, 83 degrees, san jose, and lower in half moon bay. clouds have lingered most of the day on the golden gate, pleasant and breezy there. hovering in the 80's and 90's north, and concord and livermore are checking in in the mid-90's. a lovely view from emeryville looking towards the golden gate, we have a few high clouds passing by, as i mentioned, the blue skies just all over the bay area. we have a mix of high and low clouds plus anti-drizzle overnight, triple digit inland heat tomorrow through wednesday, three consecutive days, at a much cooler pattern develops at the end of the week. the forecast animation looks like this. high clouds strewn by, lots of patches of drivel -- drizzle offshore, a few along the coastline and maybe a few around the blade -- pay.
