>> abc7 news reporter tim jones has more on a very emotional scene scene. >> i heard wailing and screaming. reporter: a tragic scene in san francisco, sfpd says a fo year-old woman pushed in a stroller was hit and killed by a car. a former news anchor who lives nearby was walking past the area after the incident. >> she was lifeless. there was blood everywhere. it is so hard. reporter: the girl's father is in critical condition but the mother is an injured -- uninjured. >> it was probably one most traumatizing things i have ever seen. when they were able to pull the little girl out -- sorry -- reporter: police say the family is visiting from out of town.

as for the driver, officers do not believe drugs or alcohol are involved. investigators are looking into what led up to the crash. >> i am not able to speak to any arrests at this time. the driver is cooperating. reporter: it is another tragedy on our streets that could be avoided, says robin pam. she says city leaders need to do more to stop pedestrian deaths. >> reducing space for our streets, making the lanes narrower. speed is the number one factor in most incidents between pedestrians and vehicles. reporter: she is constantly worried about drivers in this area after having several close encounters herself. >> you cannot rely on drivers to be aware, especially in this area. reporter: in san francisco, kg

7 news. ama: the trial of pamela price is underway. a notice of intent was dropped off at the register voters office, and the next step is to collect signatures. they need 10% of registered voters in alameda county or 93,000 people to put the recall on the ballot. price was elected this past november, and she has not commented on the recall effort. dan: let's turn to the weather, temperatures going up tomorrow. spencer christian is here with his forecast. spencer: a wonderfully warm wednesday. starting at 70. we will have lingering high clouds with moisture from the southwest, and low clouds but a mild morning, mid 60's inland, low 60's on the bay. i noon a warm up to 88 degrees.

early in the day, then was put out, then i spoke to individuals in west maui when i was visiting with survivors. they said the fire begin again. the firefighters had gone to fight other fires. ama: governor newsom announced he is sending more resources to hawaii to help with the recovery effort. dan: in that same update, governor green reiterated he is talking with president biden about the federal emergency response. the president spoke today about his plans to visit maui. pres. biden: my wife and i will travel to hawaii as soon as i can. i do not want to get in the way. i want to go in make sure they have everything they need. i want to be sure we do not disrupt the ongoing recovery efforts.

and i was like, that is like a block and a half away. reporter: that was her description when she walked down the street last week to see where the smell of smoke was coming from. susie, her husband and her daughters were home as the situation worsened. her husband sprayed down the house with the hose. >> i was trying to gather more stuff. junior came back in the house, and he was getting burned by embers flying around. reporter: the family ran to the car and maneuvered their way out of the area. because of downed power lines, they were routed to front street chose to go the wrong way on a one-way street to get out. >> i think that saved our lives. you saw how many cars were stuck. at one moment i looked at my daughter, and she had one

streaked down her face. the reason you can see it is because her face was covered in soot and ash. it was really reporter: they were able to get to safety despite the paint on the car burning away. day's later her husband opened up about his feelings. >> my husband said he gave himself to god. he thought we were all going to burn in the car. he was ok with happy. that hurt. for him to have that but that was the reality of it. reporter: so many have reached

out to susie, who was with her daughter when we spoke to her, and her entire family. she says they lost nearly everything, but they are alive and grateful as they stay at a friends house. >> we are fortunate to have a bed to sleep on. i don't know how many people are in their cars. reporter: susie tells me she is not sure what will happen next. they are taking it one day at a time, but she enrolled her five-year-old in school, and kindergarten starts on thursday. they will have mental health counselors on hand, and her daughter says she cannot wait to play on the playground. abc 7 news. dan: a little bit of normalcy for that girl. nice view from the explor atorium. often the distance, hints marine layer trying to develop. low livermore. these are the forecast headlines, low clouds and patchy drizzle overnight. hot inland and muggy, further cooling on friday and saturday. there will be a bit of a marine layer that will not extend far but low clouds. drizzle offshore, some of it may hit the land. in the middle of the day it starts to get more sunny and dry. overnight low to mid 60's. mid 60's at the coast.
