the officer is recovering at the santa clara medical center. we want to thank -- take you back to yesterday morning. the hours long standoff at the complex near missouri avenue and rey street in san jose. the spd says that two officers were responding to a family disturbance or 820. they are telling police that the husband was drunk and tried to hit her. the chief says that we were ambushed only 30 seconds after they arrived at the complex. they described the suspect went onto the balcony, and while hiding, she shot the officer. the department said that they shot outside the vest. >> we are extremely blessed that

we did not lose another officer by a coward and a convicted felon with a gun that he should never have had. but state lawmakers says that the partner is its brother. going back-and-forth with police, the 44-year-old was taken into custody. he is a convicted felon on probation. reporting live in san jose, abc 7 news. >> thank you. the fight over the effort to recall the alameda county family price is taking shape. supporters of price are now pushing back against a recall effort filed by members of the

mateo city. this crisis comes after years of scandal and alleged mismanagement in the police department. he say sheriff's office to respond to the calls. >> survivors of a are taking action. the correctional officers engaged in rape, sexual abuse, forced stripping and trafficking of incarcerated individuals. it also alleges that officials failed to open leavy at the bronze print there was a culture of sexual violence and shield the worst perpetrators from account ability. >> this lawsuit speaks an end to the sexual violence at the hands of officers. an end to retaliation including solitary confinement. the ability to confidentially

rafael. low to mid 90's, warm and hot, but not nearly as hot as it has been in the past couple of afternoons. tonight, temperatures in the 50's and 60's. i want to talk about the headline maker over the next several days as it approaches the lower 48. it is category 1. it will strengthen a bit over the next 48 hours. then, it will rapidly weaken and we will see some of the leftovers in california starting on sunday into early tuesday, and we are getting a better consensus of where exactly this rain is going to fall, and it will look like it is a southern california event. we will see monday picking up more than an inch, but we are looking to the low desert. palm springs is an area we are going to watch very closely. they could see several inches of rain. there is a high flood threat thanks to the remnants of the storm. right now, it looks like much of northern california in the bay area will see increased immunity

abc7news reporter gloria rodríguez his life and learning about this best occasion. >> san francisco police say that the driver is facing multiple charges. those who know the area tell abc 7 that the intersection where happened is a trouble spot. some even say they fear for their safety there. i drove by this memorial that is growing for a four-year-old girl, struck and killed by a car in king street in san francisco. they're leaving notes flowers and more at the intersection. that includes in a stroller. san francisco police confirmed the girl was being pushed in a stroller by her parents who are visiting san francisco and crossing. police have not released the detail on how this could happen but did confirm the driver stayed on the scene and identified her as a 71-year-old. she is facing multiple charges. >> due to the investigation, which was led by a traffic

collision investigation unit who also arrived on scene, they determine probable cause and arrested the driver did for three counts of not yielding to pedestrians. and one count of vehicular manslaughter. that design should allow for pedestrians to have priority in the intersection and ours waiting are yielding to pedestrians as they cross. that is the law and that is how it should be design. >> along with the san francisco bicycle coalition, they are asking the city to make changes. in a statement, they confirmed preliminary findings of eight speeding crash. it was a failure while turning. there been 12 collisions with injured victims between 2019 and 2023. the death on tuesday is a fatality there. as far as the driver, the sfpd says that the impairment to do

live doppler 7 with satellite. we are still under the influence of a coastal low pressure continuing to drag monsoon moisture out of arizona, giving us increased humidity and showers and thunderstorms to the north and east. you will likely see that happen again later on today. it is muggy out there, dew points are elevated, upper 50's and lower 60's. we anticipate a humid afternoon and cooler weather moving in. not as hot as yesterday, but still humidity elevated. high clouds with partly cloudy skies. throughout the day, it is still humid, but it is cooler. temperatures in the lower 60's and 70's. shank thing this at 70 miles per hour on satellite. you can clearly see and i developing. convection is blossoming. we do anticipate the storm to strengthen more over the next 48 hours. then, rapidly weakening to a tropical storm as it enters baja
