finally cleared. it began at the bay street mall in emeryville. one person was stabbed and taken to the hospital and at one point at least one shot was fired. but no one was hit. abc7 news reporter lena howland has a look at what happened. this was the scene just outside of the bay street mall after police say around 300 juveniles broke into groups and got involved into multiple fights like this one near the amc theater around 5:00 in the evening. >> catherine borrowed from fresno, says she ran right into the group as they were trying to leave the area. there were just these throngs of kids. >> i want to say 300, 400 kids and things were fine. it was just a little strange. and then all of a sudden they all started running towards us. we thought maybe there was gunfire or knife or something happened. >> and in what felt like a stampede of teenagers running her way, she says both her and her son got knocked over. >> somebody pushed past me and i hit the ground. he has a couple

of skinned knees. >> emeryville police say among the fights, one single gunshot was fired, but didn't hit anyone. about an hour later, they say one juvenile was stabbed near elm street and taken to the highland hospital with non-life threatening injuries. a spokesman for the police department tells us out of the hundreds of teens involved, just one juvenile was arrested. >> and my think is that it was 400 kids doing they said it was over 400 kids. and like, what were they doing here unsupervised without their parents? and it's scary because that's what she sometimes wants to go to the movies. and i'm like, i don't think you're not at that age to go by yourself. >> brenda valadez says the bay street mall incident spilled over into a nearby target when she witnessed teenagers pulling items off of shelves, making a mess of the store and shoplifting in front of her family. people were getting mad and it was like getting like like everybody was like stealing everything. >> like everything was on the floor. although police would not

confirm the connection to the target incident, they did say there was a link up posted to social media, which originally called the mass amount of teens to the bay street mall. >> just a very scary evening in emeryville. >> this on national cinema day where tickets at amc theaters were being sold for just $4 shortly after the incident, amc put a message on their website confirming this location has been temporarily closed in emeryville. lena howland, abc seven news. >> and this was just one of several incidents across the country this evening. according to reports, fights broke out, fights that is broke out at theaters or near theaters in stockton, culver city, along with boston, manchester, connecticut and gates, new york . in san francisco, the california highway patrol helicopter airless, lifted an injured person off of marshalls beach in the presidio this evening. san francisco fire says the patient was brought to the helipad at the fort miley va hospital where they were transferred to an awaiting

ambulance. we are told the injuries are not life threatening. turning now to weather with abc7 meteorologist frances dinglasan. looks like we're in for some warmer temperatures this week, huh? >> yeah, it's definitely going to get hot, especially inland. j.r. midweek, i want to show you one of the forecast animations which gives an idea of what temperatures will be like tomorrow. so already some 70s at the coast to mid 90s inland. high pressure will build the sea breeze will weaken. and then we're going to see temperatures start to climb tuesday, a little bit more. wednesday is when things peak. in fact, we could see triple digits for some of our inland areas like fairfield hitting 100. antioch near 97. even cloverdale near 97. and check out how warm it will be along the beaches in bodega bay point rays 77, san francisco, possibly in the mid to upper 70s. things will start to cool down towards the end of the week and i'll have more details on the labor day weekend j.r.

michelle decided she would get loud and started raising awareness of the powerful opioid. >> i was screaming into the void for the first year and said people didn't think it would ever affect them. and now so many people have heard of a loved one who has died from fentanyl. michelle and her husband own a handful of hardware stores in the bay area and are teaming up with local health departments to help train people to use naloxone as well as giving it away. >> there's no danger of narcan being anybody sunday hosting this event at their san francisco store. >> i think the more that we partner with community groups and community like michelle, we can have a further reach. >> san francisco staring down its deadliest year yet amid the overdose crisis in the first seven months, more than 470 people have died of a drug overdose. the majority from fentanyl. >> anyone here that went through this training can now save a life and that's what's most key.

were lost yesterday. angela michelle carr, 52 years old. a note joseph or aj legare junior, 19 years old, and gerald deshawn gallion, 29 years old. >> police identified the gunman as 21 year old ryan christopher palmateer. investigators say before the shooting, he was spotted at a historically black university be a security guard at edward's waters university, engaging with him and forcing him to leave. surveillance video outside the dollar general captured the alleged shooter as he raised his weapon, firing 11 rounds, killing the first victim. he then walked inside wearing a tactical vest armed with an ar 15 style rifle and a handgun. two more victims killed inside the store at 118 ten minutes into the shooting, the gunman allegedly texted his father telling his dad to check his computer. >> the father enters the room and finds a last will and testament of the suspect, along with a suicide note on his laptop. >> by 153, the suspect's family called the clay county sheriff. but by then the shooting rampage

was over. the suspect dying by suicide at the scene. police say palmateer left behind several writings. >> the rather liberal use of the n-word several times it was clear that his crimes were motivated by wanting to shoot black people. >> andrew dymburt, abc news, new york. >> florida governor ron desantis spoke at tonight's vigil, saying we are not going to let people be targeted based on their race. president joe biden issued a statement saying white supremacy has no place in america, adding silence is complicity and we must not remain silent. governor newsom also wrote california stands with you. america's diverse communities are under attack. we cannot remain silent in the north bay. the highway patrol is asking for help to find a hit and run driver who killed a male pedestrian. it happened on river road near rio vista road at 730 this morning in forestville in sonoma county. these are images of the vehicle believed to have been involved

this dark colored suv, possibly a buick, has damage to the front passenger side. the driver is described as a female adult regional medical center in san jose. held a valuable event today to promote safety on the road. the event gave life saving information on what motorcyclists and the general public can do to help accident victims that included lessons on how to handle trauma injuries that happen after a crash. >> we taught some of those bleeding control techniques. how to pack the wound, how to apply a tourniquet, it all these things that can be done which will then help save a life or prevent further injury from happening. >> the idea came from an e.r. nurse at wrmc, who also rides motorcycles. he realized that few of his fellow riders knew how to respond to a crash at the end of an era. after 35 years. nordstar closes for the last time in san francisco. also

>> it's a sad day because it's a wonderful store. it's been an anchor in san francisco. >> julie was one of the first shoppers writing that signature spot escalator sunday for nordstrom, his last day of business at the san francisco center. lesley simmons and her daughter hadn't heard the news. >> i didn't realize that today was the last day. and i guess i'm glad that we're here unexpectedly, just to, you know , walk around one last time. >> the once vibrant store is now desolate with plenty of empty displays. >> it's kind of upsetting, you know, being a native of san francisco and just seeing how downtown is like just kind of going away. nordstrom announced in may it was closing the store due to declining sales. >> employees say they were not surprised. >> it is definitely partially due to the crime in the area and covid has a big impact on a lot of businesses. >> this flagship store opened back in 1988 and you better believe back then it was a really big deal.

join right now by meteorologist francis dinglasan. i have a friend of mine who went out there and had to wait because of those muddy conditions to actually get in. and that's pretty rare. >> yeah. oh yeah, that is. and then i checked for the weather. tomorrow is going to be 90s. it's going to be hot there. i've never been myself but haven't been. >> yeah, it looks fun, but seeing the pictures. >> yeah. and then i noticed in the bay area, not as much traffic this week. while a lot of folks are burning man and they're going to miss out on the gorgeous weather that we're having, here's a look at live doppler seven, the satellite radar image. so what you'll notice is the lack of cloud cover and that is going to really allow temperatures to warm up. we're also seeing some hazy conditions right now. the air quality is actually good to moderate in parts of the north bay and near oakland. the other area is good, but there is an air quality advisory that has been extended through tomorrow as we show you live view from sutro, you can see clear across the bay into the east bay and you can see the top of the

salesforce tower there. so for monday, we're expecting moderate to good air quality and improving air quality on tuesday. but it could be a little bit tough for some sensitive folks tomorrow. so temperatures right now are also on the mild side. we're seeing lots of 60s around the bay. even some 70s and concord and brentwood right now already past 11:00, still hanging on to the 70s. and here's another gorgeous view from mt. tam. so the marine layer is compressed. we're not seeing a lot of cloud cover and we will get that compression. so the hazy conditions are expected tomorrow. so here's what you need to know for the forecast. tomorrow will be hazy, sunny and even a little bit warmer compared to today. and then it's going to be hot inland tuesday and wednesday. we could see some moderate heat risk for sensitive folks. those will be the warmest days. and then things really get much cooler towards the end of the week, closer to average into the labor day weekend lows tonight. generally in the upper

50s, we could see some mid to low 50s in the north bay like napa dropping to 53. and again, what you'll notice is a lack of fog and cloud cover. we'll get a little bit here along the san mateo county coast, but not much else. highs tomorrow will be ranging from the mid 60s, half moon bay. and then of course, we still have that sea breeze keeping things a little bit cooler at 66. but then we'll see mid 90s for the inland areas like fairfield, antioch, cloverdale getting up to 93, lakeport 94 around the bay, it's going to be t shirt and shorts weather in san francisco, 74. san jose 84 degrees and also what i want to show you is the forecast animation. so even tomorrow afternoon, plenty of sunshine for everybody. and then as we head into tuesday afternoon and night, almost no clouds at all. here's an idea of what you can expect for the week ahead. in san francisco. our average high 69 check out

>> now to maui where the search continues for hundreds of people missing since that devastating wildfire there. lawsuits are beginning to be filed. the biggest one of note, a maui county putting in a claim against the hawaiian electric company. reporter jenn sullivan brings us the latest. >> is first responders sift through what remains in western maui. families are searching through this list of those still missing from the catastrophic wildfires earlier this month. >> i know that everyone has to hold out hope, but there's a part of you that just knows. >> a list of 388 names of people still unaccounted for was released thursday. >> once those names come out, it can and will cause pain for some folks that are affected by this. >> at least 115 people perished in the flames that tore through the island earlier this month. the wildfires in maui are the deadliest us wildfire in over 100 years. moody's analytics estimates the fire caused up to
