future weather noticing that patchy fog. we will see a partly cloudy start to our day for a lot of us. we'll get a lot of sunshine here throughout the late morning, early afternoon and today is a little bit warmer compared to yesterday. we do expect our warmest cities to get into the mid 80s and low 90s away from the coast. a lot of 60s and 70s around the bay shoreline with a lot of sunshine today so enjoy that is weather. let's check a traffic with jobina. good morning. >> good morning junior. thank you. hi everybody. so we do have good news for anyone that was impacted by the closure on the carquinez bridge. even though our sensors are lighting up purple, the roadway reopen and at 5 a.m. westbound 80 between 780 and vallejo and state route four in hercules. so great news because i know that was a big issue for a lot of people. tracy to dublin 40 minutes for that ride so you can tell it's no longer the holiday. yesterday it was around 28 minutes. so a big difference there. emeryville showing you 80 the headlights there in the westbound direction . that's a busy stretch for us this morning. it's still light, though, at the richmond-san rafael bridge coomassie. thanks,

jobina. >> developing news on that mass exodus in the nevada desert. the gates at burning man are open as tens of thousands of people are now able to leave after rain left them trapped in muddy conditions. but this could take hours for them to get out. abc seven news reporter ryan curry live in the newsroom with the details on this. good morning, ryan. >> good morning. the burners as they are called, had a positive attitude monday as they were finally allowed to leave after a grueling weekend. some of them leaving with a lot of their things covered in mud. abc seven was up at the grounds at burning man yesterday, speaking with festival goers as they were packing up and leaving the festival wrapped up monday night with the ceremonial burning of the man. you can see just the amount of mud people had to endure. covered in shoes, everything covered in mud, heavy rain caused the grounds of the festival to turn into a muddy mess. all weekend long, burners were stranded and told to conserve food and water. some hiked miles out of the grounds and hitched rides to reno. others stuck it out and said it was an experience they'll

remember for the rest of their lives. >> we stayed indoors for about 16 to 18 hours. after that, we went out like a regular night. there was lots of parties. every camp had its own parties. we had to wear garbage bags around the boots, yuk it out in the mud. but it was amazing how many of them told abc seven news. >> the festival itself is about survival. burners say they helped each other by making sure everyone had food and water. authorities are also investigating the death of somebody at burning man. the victim is 32 year old leon reese , who died friday. it is unclear if it was connected to the storm . an autopsy will determine the cause of death. we asked many if they would go back after what happened this weekend. they told our reporter j.r stone they would definitely consider doing it again. live in the newsroom, ryan curry, abc seven news. >> all right, ryan, thank you so much. well, all of that mud in the desert is raising health concerns for the thousands of people exposed to it at burning man, ucsf infectious disease specialist dr. monica gandhi says organisms sitting in our

soil can be the leading cause for skin infections. she says that less exposure to mud in these wet desert conditions is key. if you really drag yourself through the mud, like at the tough mudder competition in sonoma last month, you and if you especially if you have skin abrasions, you can get skin and soft tissue infections or cellulitis from those soil organisms. >> dr. gandhi does not recommend people to stay covered in mud for more than two days. >> she suggests cleaning off the mud with water as soon as possible. at last check, no outbreaks of any kind have been reported in the black rock desert as thousands are finally able to leave burning man celebrity dj diplo is telling us about his experience. here's abc news reporter matt gutman in this morning's gma first look. >> grammy winning dj diplo speaks out about his burning man experience. it did take me like

is experiencing mild symptoms. she will remain at the first family's delaware home during her recovery. president biden and the first lady were last together on saturday. mr. biden is preparing to head to india this week for the g20 summit. both tested positive for covid last summer and were treated with paxlovid. dr. biden's diagnosis comes after a new variant was detected in several states. government data shows hospitalizations and deaths are up nearly 20% in recent weeks. an updated covid shot is expected utd later this month. the cdc is set to discuss the exact timing of all of that. the new cdc director has already said she recommends everyone get the updated shot once it becomes available. so we'll be tracking that. coomassie. >> thanks, jobina. today, dianne feinstein's elder abuse lawsuit is set to be heard in san francisco superior court. senator feinstein suit involves trustees of her late husband's estate. it accuses the trustees of committing financial elder abuse and refusing to respond to requests for disbursements. it

also claims the trustees improperly enriched the daughters of her late husband, richard blum, who died last year. co-trustees michael klein and mark skolnick filed an objection last week questioning feinstein's capacity. her daughters involvement in the case, and her disbursement requests in the east bay. >> a woman is in critical condition after being hit by a stray bullet from a drive by shooting. it happened yesterday at lake merritt on lakeside drive and madison street police say the woman was an innocent bystander and was hit while she was on the pedestrian path. no information has been released about a suspect. >> if your commute takes you between vallejo and hercules on interstate 80, you may notice a smoother ride today. the westbound lanes are back open after a labor day weekend closure. the lanes closed thursday night so caltrans could repave three miles of the freeway. crews say the work went faster than they expected and they reopened the lanes 12 hours

$400,000 to develop this new tool in oakland youth football organization is looking for a new home. >> their search comes after the group was caught in the middle of gunfire during two practices recently. abc7 news reporter tim john spoke with one member of the team and shares her heartfelt plea. a nightmare situation unfolding for the east bay panthers in oakland. >> late last month as the youth football organization was practicing at verdese carter park, a gunfight broke out right outside the park's entrance. >> sounded like a war zone. there were so many shots that rang out. it was like people were shooting back and forth. kids were very frantic. >> thomas lopez is the treasurer of the group and has two kids who play with the panthers. she says as if the first experience wasn't bad enough at the nets practice, it got even worse. >> then all of a sudden people came on the field, running behind each other, shooting before they were off the field. this time they were running through the field with handguns. >> lopez says after happening

two times in a row, many in the organization are devastated and fear for their safety. >> i have ptsd. my ten year old had three nightmares the first night to where he had to sleep in a bed with me. >> now the panthers are trying to find a new safe place to practice and raising money through a gofundme page. one option could be madison park academy near sobrante park. >> the only issue is that with the city of oakland parks and recreation, we have to have money to be able to rent out parks. >> lopez says most of the kids on the panthers come from underserved communities without a lot of extra money. she tells me part of the appeal of the organization is to give members a chance at a normal child hood football gives them not only a community of family that loves them, it gives them a place to eat when they don't have money, a place to have social advantages that they wouldn't normally have. while lopez says she's angry that the city of oakland is facing the current spike in violence, she knows one

showing you our 880 at the coliseum camera here. those headlights are traveling in the southbound direction. so far, no major blocking issues at this point. it is pretty busy, though, in walnut creek as we show you this live look at 680, this tail lights are traveling in the southbound direction. and we'll end with this round of drive times. only nine minutes to get across the bay bridge right now in the westbound direction. >> all right. thank you so much, jobina. developing news on the muddy mess at burning man. the gates are now back open this morning as people are able to leave. drone video shows the incredible line of rvs, campers and cars that are making their way out of the desert. and at one point yesterday, it stretched three miles long with a caravan of people headed home. meanwhile the festival officially wrapped up last night with the ceremonial burning of the man. it was delayed until yesterday because of the extreme weather. this is all happening in black rock desert in northwestern nevada. that's about 150 miles from the capital of carson city and about 120 miles from reno and the nearby

town of sparks. abc7 news reporter ryan curry is live in the newsroom with more. good morning, ryan. yeah, gloria, good morning. >> what a wild weekend for many it seems like it's a sigh of relief knowing they can finally leave. but others say it made it a very memorable experience. storms on friday turned the black rock desert into a muddy mess. i mean, you can see the amount of mud they had to deal with, covering almost everything at the festival, burners were told to conserve food and water all weekend until the gates could reopen. some hiked miles outside the festival grounds and hitched rides back to reno. others stuck it out and said it was an experience they'll remember for the rest of their lives. >> as we left the bikes there, we didn't even take them back because of the mud. we couldn't get there. we couldn't get to take them back. so we have no bikes. >> this is probably with some of it cleaned up. it's definitely like clay out there. so it's an interesting texture. so tough to walk around, but we made the best of it. everything >> everything just looks like it

very much of a bonding type situation and have made friends here that i will have hopefully for decades for the rest of my life in the south bay. >> lauren martinez, abc seven news. >> beautiful rainbow there. well, it is a unique case of lost and found in fremont, a landmark that was cut in an act of vandalism has now been found and we are talking about the peaker pole, a special marker atop mission peak. hikers are known to take photos with it when they reach a summit. they say it has four faces showing you the direction of north and south. and it's covered in peeker holes so that you could see other iconic peaks around the bay. but there are still questions about who cut off half of that pole. >> this was premeditated. you need a specific tool to cut something like that down and you need to spend time to bring yourself up to 100ft over three miles. it's not a low effort

crime. >> the section that was removed has been found by park staff. the pole has stood atop mission peak since 1990. >> a shocking in for labor day festivities for students in wisconsin on a pier packed with dozens of people just collapsed suddenly and it sent everyone plunging into a lake. jobina is tracking the situation from the live desk. jobina. >> thank you. carmassi 80 people were packed onto this pier that's at a lake on the campus of the university of wisconsin in madison when it collapsed yesterday afternoon, at least 20 people were hurt. one was taken to a local hospital. wreckage can be seen floating in the lake after the collapse. the city of madison fire department performed underwater searches confirming no one else was trapped or drowned. >> the fire department came and was like, you have to get off the dock. you can't walk back on the dock. it might collapse. so we were kind of like swimming with our phones in the air. like we don't want to get them wet. but definitely scary. i was shaking for a while, but feeling

better now. the pier on lake mendota was scheduled to be removed today for the end of the summer season. >> in a statement, uw madison says the area was not staffed by lifeguards and the time at the time of the collapse and they are planning to investigate exactly what happened there. gloria. >> all right. jobina, thank you so much. i was just on that campus a month ago. well, partially submerged tugboat is leaking oil into the sacramento-san joaquin river delta, northwest of stockton. the california department of fish and wildlife says that the oil and diesel are spilling into a protected wildlife area. they say several agencies are developing a plan to remove the boat and clean up the oil wildlife officials say the early response has prevented any major impact. >> they're developing a salvage plan right now to get a contractor out there to remove the vessel, remove the threat. >> and so at this point, we've been really fortunate that that no wildlife or plant species have been impacted. >> the san joaquin sheriff's office says a spill was not intentional and it's possible for older vessels in the water
