this morning with a new sighting in the manhunt for convicted killer danilo cavalcanti escaped from a pennsylvania prison more than a week ago and police have said the search area is between 8 and 10mi■!s. >> and now our philadelph dia station w-p-t-v reports that cavalcanti has been seen on another trail camera. this time at a botanical garden. abc's m1 is tracking the search this morning. m good morning. >> good morning. rhiannon yeah. authorities say the fugitive is wanted for killing two people before he escaped from prison, one in the us and one in brazil. residents in the search area remain on edge this morning. the urgent manhunt for a convicted killer in pennsylvania now in its second week. authorities are investigating the eighth credible sighting of danilo cavalcanti. >> we are checking homes. we're talking to neighbors. we have horses out there as well that are assisting with the search tactical teams, sources tell our philadelphia station where cavalcanti was spotted on another trail camera near the local longwood botanical gardens

, the same area he was spotted in on monday, shown here appearing to hold a bag. >> residents there told to shelter in place as a precaution . an armed law enforcement seen scouring the neighborhood. police say this sighting of the 34 year old sentenced to life in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend indicates he likely has been traveling back and forth and is contained in a search area of 8 to 10mi■!s. ths has been going on for a week now. >> it has to be beyond frustrating. it's insane. >> i mean, it really is insane. and i don't know what to tell you. i mean, special ops. get him in here. anything. whatever it takes, it takes the escapee has eluded hundreds of law officers since he broke out of the chester county prison, seen in this stunning security video where he scales these narrow walls to the roof to get out. >> officials say the guard in the observation tower has been placed on administrative leave. prison officials promising increased security at the facility, including additional surveillance cameras to eliminate blind spots.

>> i believe it becomes more desperate. we will eventually capture him. and when we do, he's going to prison. the reward for information leading to cavalcanti capture is now at $20,000. >> but police warn he's still considered extremely dangerous. lionel. all right. >> thank you so much. another update as well. new video of a murder suspect who escaped from custody in washington, d.c. police say christopher haynes fled from officers while they were removing his handcuffs at george washington university hospital. a $25,000 reward is now being offered in that search. >> hurricane lee is now a monster category five storm in the atlantic peak winds could reach 180mph this morning after the storm rapidly intensified over warm water yesterday. so the big question, where is lee headed? accuweather jeff cornish is watching the storm's track. jeff, good morning, ryan. >> and we're dealing with a powerful category five hurricane. lee went from a category 2 to 4 in six hours.

now it is a five. if we look at historical september, major hurricanes, it passed just north of the leeward islands where it'll be this weekend. a lot of these have curved, but we still have to keep a close eye on areas like the mid-atlantic states because we did see a landfall back in 2003 from a similar location in the form of isabel. so areas from the mid-atlantic states all the way to the northeast have to stay on top of this. lionel, back to you . >> jeff, thank you. now to the delicate rescue mission. thousands of feet underground and american man is seriously ill after exploring one of the most dangerous caves in the world. this morning, efforts to save an american trapped deep inside a cave in turkey are underway day, but could take several more days. >> it may last as long as eight days. now that was the original estimates and we're feeling better with marks rapid improvement. >> mark dickey, a scientist from new jersey, was part of an expedition to map the cave when he suddenly became ill 3400ft

underground. and he developed internal bleeding. saturday. could not eat and was in desperate need of medical attention. three three days later, rescuer including doctors, finally reached him, bringing him six pints of blood . >> i was very close to the edge. >> the 40 year old, who is still described as very sick, was seen in this video after medical help arrived up. >> i'm alert. i'm talking, but i'm not healed on the inside yet. so i need a lot of help to get out of here now, dickey and his rescuers need to make the treacherous journey out of the cave. >> described as narrow and dangerous. and one of the most difficult cave systems in the world. >> it involves crawling through squeezes, turning your body sideways. then there's water passages. it's muddy, it's wet, it's cold. everything is hard rock. it's exhausting. >> under ideal conditions, it would take about 15 hours to reach the surface. but if he needs to be carried out on a

stretcher, it could take up to two weeks to lower the stretcher down and bring it back up. dickey's parents overnight releasing a statement relieved that the rescue is ongoing, saying our prayers are being answered. we're hoping he is brought up safely. dickey's team can communicate with people on the surface, but message will take about five hours to reach them. >> there are explore massive new allegations against billionaire elon musk concerning a secret order he reportedly made affecting the war in ukraine. according to a new book by journalist walter isaacson, musk ordered his starlink satellite network to be turned off near crimea last year to stop a ukrainian attack on russian warships. the author reportedly writes the ukrainian drones lost connectivity because the internet was turned off. according to the book, musk was concerned about a, quote, mini pearl harbor and was worried that vladimir putin might respond with nuclear weapons. musk has not responded yet to the claims. >> well, a new warning sign for

the white house ahead of the presidential election. a cnn poll has found 67% of democratic leaning voters say the party should nominate someone other than president biden his age was a top concern. the poll found former south carolina governor nikki haley leading biden in a hypothetical general election matchup. >> now to the issue of immigration and the cost of accepting migrants thousands of miles from a southern border. new york city is now sounding the alarm after the arrival of 110,000 asylum seekers in just the last year. this morning, the mayor of the nation's largest city with this controversial warning about the recent influx of migrants, many arriving on busses provided by texas and florida. >> this issue will destroy new york city to destroy new york city mayor eric adams says the city is already running a $12 billion deficit and it could cost another $12 billion to
