week's dreamforce conference from salesforce. while even more in-person attendees are expected this year, there's talk that it could be the last one in downtown san francisco. so there's a beehive of activity at moscone center. >> welcome to dreamforce, the massive dreamforce tech conference runs tuesday through thursday. salesforce employees from around the world are already here. >> i'm from brazil. this is my fourth time. i love san francisco. i love that. here is all about technology. >> 43,000 people are expected to show up with guests. matthew mcconaughey and the foo fighters . another 200,000 people are registered to attend online this year. >> is all about artificial intelligence. it's really three days full of learning, connecting, having fun and giving back downtown sf will be flooded with dreamforce attendees. >> many of them are aware of san francisco's crime drug and homeless concerns. salesforce ceo marc benioff says dreamforce

based openai system that created chatgpt. that's according to the wall street journal. meta is aiming to be the system to be ready by next year. now, on wednesday, ceo mark zuckerberg will join other top tech executives to discuss the future of ai in a summit organized by senate majority leader chuck schumer. the ceos from openai and google will also be attending and then tomorrow morning, big changes are coming to bart. but we are all already seeing the start of a whole new era for the transit agency, at least in one way. abc7 news reporter ryan curry shows us what's ahead and how riders are reacting to this train ride will be closing out a major chapter of our history. >> thank you for joining us and riding with us tonight. this is a richmond bound red line train . say goodbye to these sundays. >> the last night the old style bart trains are running in its

system. they'll only be used on rare occasions. it is now all about the fleet of the future. >> i was here when bart opened. i remember we were at the opening. i just moved to the bay area as a little kid. and so, yeah, i mean that's the nature of life. >> longtime bart writer george segura says he will miss the old trains, but wants bart to make improvements that will come with not only the trains, but also the schedule. there will be a 20 minute maximum wait for a train and there will be more trains running at night. the wait for a train on the yellow line will only be 10 to 15 minutes on weekdays and more trains will run to sfo. >> we know that more people are traveling on the weekends and in the evenings, so we've increased the service by 50% on evenings and weekends. >> bart is also moving to shorter trains. the reason for that safety. segura says he consistently sees people breaking the law while on board. >> what i see is that there's a lot of misuse of the trains. people are sleeping there crazy super loud music, a lot of smoking. there's so much smoking on bart. sometimes it's hard to breathe and it's very hard to get help from the police. i've

i've called a couple of times with no reactions. riders who take bart every single day and riders who take bart just on occasion say they want to see the system address those safety concerns. >> well, one of the things bart wants to accomplish with this new schedule change is to make this a safer system. >> some people won't be alone in their train cars as often. also it provides a shorter distance for our police officers and other police personnel to patrol those train cars. >> bart also says it will help their cleaning crews keep trains in good condition. segura says he is happy to see bart try and help its riders. he says even now he doesn't see many officers patrolling the trains. >> people just seem to feel like the police aren't doing anything and they're actually kind of afraid. the police are actually afraid to act sometimes, but i think i've seen police maybe a total of in the last month, four times in the east bay. >> ryan curry, abc seven news. let's now get you a step ahead on our weather picture out there for this week. >> abc7 news meteorologist frances dinglasan joins us right now and has what you can expect

in your 24 hour accuweather forecast. >> it's definitely a pretty picture. jr we had a gorgeous day and we have a gorgeous evening. here's a live view from sutro tower and you can just see clear into san francisco even the lights across the bay. temperatures right now are in the 50s and 60s but we will be dropping into the 50s tomorrow morning. what you'll notice is we'll have mainly clear skies overnight. some clouds along the san mateo county coast. bright sunshine for almost everyone. and then in the afternoon, we'll be warming up again. inland areas in the upper 80s maybe a few locations near 90, around the bay. really comfortable and mild in the mid 70s. but at the beaches because of the sea breeze, temperatures will only hit the low to mid 60s. now tomorrow night we'll see increase in cloud cover for a cooler tuesday and i'll have those numbers with the accuweather seven day forecast j.r. >> thank you so much frances. new details tonight on the big rebuild for capitola beach line and pier crews are set to start

officer perimeter sometime during the evening of september ninth. >> cavalcanti stole a 2020 ford transit van from an area approximately three quarters of a mile from the perimeter. we were maintaining near the longwood gardens property. >> you see his picture right here. he changed his appearance and was caught on a ring camera trying to talk to a former coworker who wasn't home at the time. and attempt at reaching out to second former coworker also unsuccessful. the van he stole was later found abandoned after ran out of gas. it's now been ten days since the escaped prison and he was convicted of killing his ex girlfriend in front of her two children. her family is currently under 24 hour surveillance. tonight california governor gavin newsom is defending the city of san francisco. in a new tv interview . the governor sat down with nbc's meet the press where he stood up for the city. he was formerly mayor of. he called it

every weekday morning at 9 a.m. right after good morning america . meteorologist francis dinglasan here now talking about boy parades all over and it just looked gorgeous outside. it was beautiful. >> we had plenty of sunshine. temperatures are a little bit above average in many spots and it's gorgeous behind us. i also want to show you this live shot from mt. tam because you can see clouds clear across the bay from mt. tam. we're looking south. you can see the bay bridge, san francisco, it even you can even see these lights above the cities. i think those are the planes taking off from the airports. and we will have a mostly clear nights. i just want to show you how pretty that was overnight. not much fog, just maybe a little bit along the san mateo county coast. it's going to be sunny again tomorrow, but some temperatures will come down a degree or two. and then we're going to see breezier and cooler conditions on tuesday. and i'll show you that with the forecast animation. so you saw how clear

it was. it's also very quiet and live doppler seven, no clouds, no moisture out there right now. temperatures in the 50s and 60s at this point. and it's a little bit milder in san jose where it's 65 and fairfield, we're even hanging on to 68 still in cloverdale, 66 in brentwood. cooler, though, in half moon bay, 55 degrees. so here's how it plays out. we start out midnight. not much cloud cover tomorrow morning. the clouds don't even move in. they stay along the coast, even away from the coast. but you can see it hits the san mateo county coastline. and then by lunchtime , still mostly sunny and then tomorrow night into tuesday morning is when the stronger, breezier conditions arrive and we'll see more widespread coverage tuesday. and that's why temperatures will also be coming down lows tonight. generally in the mid 50s to upper 50s around the bay, a little bit cooler in the north bay in the low 50s. and then tomorrow, plenty of sunshine. once again, we could hit near 90 and a few inland locations, but some spots will be near 88 like concord and

earthquake strikes morocco causing catastrophic damage and death. entire villages have been leveled. it is the worst seismic event in the north african country in decades. and the united states is pledging to help immediately. let's first get you the very latest on what we know tonight. the death toll stands at more than 2100 people killed as a result, the 6.8 magnitude quake which struck friday night. thousands more have been injured right now, many terrified moroccans are spending the night in the street, too afraid to return to their homes. the epicenter was not far from the popular tourist hub of marrakesh. historic sites there have been damaged. and tonight, us secretary of state antony blinken says it has been made very clear to morocco that the us is prepared to assist in any way it can. a bay area family was visiting morocco as

the shaking began. tonight they're sharing a frightening story. they tell abc abc7 news reporter cornell bernard. the quake ready training. they learned growing up here helped to keep them calm. it's insanely beautiful. >> it's really an interesting mix of cultures. >> it was a dream moroccan vacation for my friends. the garnet hunter family from marin and san francisco. but their last day visiting marrakesh was truly unforgettable. this was the terrifying moment. the 6.8 magnitude quake struck morocco late friday night. >> it was the scariest earthquake i've ever lived through. christina garnet and daughter natalie say they feared their three story hotel would collapse. >> me and my mom are just looking at each other and then suddenly we're like, we got to run to the door because we've been training for this our whole lives. we're from san francisco. we've lived through earthquakes, and we know about earthquakes. but there's still a few seconds where you're like kind of in disbelief. >> many ran for safety from

homes and restaurants. the epicenter, about 45 miles south of marrakesh, the heaviest damage in morocco's atlas mountains. the family capturing these images of quake debris in the old medina section of marrakesh. >> we evacuated after about 15, 20 minutes. our hosts made us leave and we walked to the main square where there were hundreds of people gathered. >> here's what they saw, patrick says. many people were in shock and there was fear of aftershocks. >> it's really difficult to hear about the damages that were done. >> the next morning we walked through town and the bakers chimney had fallen off and we had talked to him the night before and he was trying to get bread out to the community, trying to feed people. >> amid the tragedy and rising death toll, the family says there's hope and resilience. >> so it's just this amazing community spirit that really struck us. it was just it was wonderful. they were just going to keep going. >> the family has now traveled out of morocco, but hope to

return soon. >> we just want to send a lot of love and support to the people of morocco. >> in san francisco, cornell, bernard, abc seven news, new mexico's governor is issuing a temporary emergency order suspending the right to carry guns in public in the town of albuquerque. >> protesters are now responding . the pro-second amendment rally was held in albuquerque today. governor michelle lujan grisham says she does expect legal challenges, but felt urgency to react to recent shootings, including the death of an 11 year old boy outside of a baseball stadium last week. >> other than a law enforcement officer or licensed security officer, she will possess a firearm either openly or concealed gun deaths are the leading cause of death for children. 1 to 19in new mexico for the next 30 days. >> in albuquerque, conceal an open carry of firearms is banned in most places. state police will be the ones to enforce the

law, which amount to civil violations. progress is finally being made underground to rescue an american cave. researcher he's been trapped deep in a turkish cave since august 31st. a 40 year old mark dickey was on a mapping expedition with his girlfriend and he suddenly became ill with severe gastric pain while more than 3400ft below ground. as of tonight, he has been helped up to base camp at 2300ft below ground. at least 150 rescuers from multiple nations have been working to get him out. >> i'm not healed on the inside yet, so i need a lot of help to get out of here. >> they're now using explosives to bust open sections of the cave to safely rescue dickey, then pulling him up on a stretcher using rappel ropes. he is a well known name in the world of cave research. experts believe it could take at least another five days to bring him to the surface this week as the
