year old jeremy stoner, a abducted near his family's vallejo home in 1987. his body found days later on sherman island in sacramento county. >> we are in the process, as we have been for the last several days, of going throughout that area. and looking for suspicious people. anything that may be suspicious that has come through that area that year, police did arrest and charge a man with murder and kidnaping, but the case was dismissed. >> and the investigator nation then went cold for decades. that is, until this week. solano county district attorney krishna abrams announcing friday a new suspect in custody be identified using dna technology. in a statement, she said, i am so thankful to have such dedicated cold case investigators that no matter how much time goes by, they remain steadfast in their commitment to solving these horrific cases. jim hammer is a former san francisco assistant district attorney. >> the second level is think about the guy who was wrongly

accused of this. i mean, a man who had falsely accused of rape and murder of a young boy. i can't imagine a worse false accusation. >> now, this week, investigators arresting fred kane, the third, at his home in central point, oregon. he'll be transferred to solano county to face a murder charge. he's also accused of kidnaping and. >> if dna is collected properly and everyone follows procedure, there's in my mind, no better evidence in the world because it can prove conclusively who committed this crime and perhaps soon, some long awaited closure for this community. >> tara campbell, abc seven news. >> a two year old died following a shooting earlier today in ailable tonight, but we are told it happened on alhambra avenue at about 1130 in the morning. police say a family member brought the boy to the hospital and the toddler had at least one gunshot wound. they say the shooting happened at a home, but the circumstances are still unclear. no arrests have been made. we're working the

story to find out more for you. a developing news out of oakland where oakland police are investigating a deadly shooting in the upper rockridge neighborhood that occurred just before 745 this evening. officers responded to the scene on broadway near the parking lot to a lake temescal after reports of shots fired when police arrived, they found a person on the ground and immediately called for medical personnel. the victim died at the scene. police are asking for anyone with information to please give them a call. let's move on to talk about the weather for a few moments. it does not look like we're going to get a break from the haze tomorrow. there is another spare the air alert. meteorologist sandhya patel is here with your 24 hour accuweather forecast. andy. yeah dan, one more day of this hazy, smoky skies that you still see is around as we take a look at this time lapse from our east bay hills camera shortly after sunset, you will notice not just the marine layer passing through, but that real slender coat of smoke that's hanging around so that spare the air alert has been extended through

filing comes a following what is become a hot issue in san francisco, where the city is fighting an injunction that keeps it from clearing camps. district attorneys in sacramento and san diego have filed similar briefs. well, how'd you like to pay more for electricity? pga customers will likely see their bills increase in the next few months. the cpuc is expected to vote on two proposed rate plans in november. one raises rates by 9, the other by 11 on pga, he says an increase is necessary to put 2100 miles of power lines underground and to reduce wildfire risk. >> when you put those lines underground, it reduces the need to do things like tree trimming and maintenance around those lines. and it also far increases reliability. >> pg wants to put most of its many of its power lines underground. that is far too expensive an approach for wildfire safety. the much better approach is to insulate the power lines which is a faster

and cheaper way. >> state senator scott wiener says the rate increase will place an absurd burden on customers for upgrades. he claims should have been performed decades ago. new developments tonight. a federal judge has ruled that california cannot not ban gun magazines of more than ten rounds. it comes after the supreme court last year set a legal standard on interpreting gun laws, relying on their history, lyrical context instead of public safety. the ban will likely remain in effect. however, while california attorney general appeals the court's ruling. new at 11, elon musk has pledged to donate $100,000 to defeat one progressive san francisco supervisor for during next year's election. it comes after the supervisor received some pushback for comments he made about the city's problem with car break ins. but as abc7 news reporter tim johns explains, there are a lot more to this story. >> a post from san francisco supervisor dean preston now going viral online on wednesday.

preston taking to the social media platform x, formerly known as twitter to urge the city to launch a campaign telling visitors not to leave things in their cars. the supervisor saying the move would dramatic reduce car break ins. the tweet getting noticed by several oppressed political opponents, including elon musk, who said he'd donate $100,000 to help defeat him in the next election. >> and that's not instead of enforcement. right. the police department and the da will work on the enforcement side of it. >> during an interview, preston said his tweet was taken out of context by musk and others. he tells me he believes the city needs a multifaceted approach to tackle the car breaking epidemic . that's why he hosted a special hearing thursday, bringing together several city agencies to try and find solution to the problem. >> let's actually have real signage with graphics that are clear to people, no matter what language they speak. let's have community ambassadors who are out there handing a similar flier to people as they park. >> san francisco has averaged

next year in san francisco, this weekend, you can expect to see a lot of leather in the city's soma neighborhood. the 40th annual folsom street fair is on sunday. the event draws thousands of kink and leather enthusiasts to the city every year. you can also enjoy food, drink, live music and dance while supporting local businesses. folsom street fair will go from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on folsom between eighth and 13th streets in the east bay . now, tens of thousands of people are expected to stroll the streets of lafayette this weekend for the art and wine festival. it starts at 10 a.m. on saturday and sunday and features hundreds of vendors as well as live music and kid zones. it takes over several blocks of mount diablo boulevard and be advised you have to buy a ticket in person. this is the largest annual festival in contra costa county, and it's a good one. well, as the old saying goes, there's two guarantees in life death and taxes. but soon it might be taylor swift and taxes. a new law is requiring ticket sellers
