every first sunday of october. the big impact, the castro street fair has on the neighborhood. abc7 news starts right now. >> building a better bay area moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc7 news. >> the thrill is back. fleet week in all its roaring glory is set to return. this year's event officially starts tomorrow. thank you for joining us. i'm j.r. stone. the annual blue angels air show, a mainstay of fleet week, was in danger of being grounded if congress had not approved a stopgap spending bill. just minutes ago, we captured one of the big ships coming into san francisco. so you see it right here under the bridge. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is live in san francisco where the first navy ship is arriving. we just saw that image there. cornell boy, it's a special time of year.

>> it really is, j.r. and we are told by the navy that as the uss john murtha, it is scheduled to dock underneath the bay bridge tonight, along with another ship tomorrow. both will be open for tours later this week. you know, after a lot of uncertainty, fleet week is definitely happening in san francisco. ready for the heart pounding rumble of jet engines over san francisco. so the us navy says the blue angels are clear for takeoff. >> fleet week is happening. the blue angels will fly. >> that's the word from navy spokesperson brian o'rourke. 24 hours ago. he wasn't sure if a looming government shutdown would cancel most of the famous airshow. >> i would say that the excitement, the suspense and the drama has come down and the excitement has gone up. and the sailors and marines are very happy that they're coming up here for fleet week. it was a little suspenseful over the past several days, but everyone's been looking forward to this trip for months.

palace of fine arts and the vehicle was connected to an armed robbery and auto burglaries. a second person inside the car was taken to the hospital. the pursuit ended when the car struck an object at san bruno avenue near the paul avenue off ramp on highway 101. the california highway patrol is investigating to violent attacks around the same time on san francisco's market street kept police busy this morning. a police spokesperson says an assault happened near market and battery streets just before 8 a.m. but did not give details about the attack. around the same time, police received reports of a stabbing near fourth and market just a half mile away. officers detained a man at that scene. police believe he's a suspect in both attacks. all four people were taken to the hospital. paramedics got caught up in a sideshow early this morning in oakland. video shows a crowd blocking an ambulance at macarthur boulevard and high

street. it's unclear whether the ambulance was on a call. a different sideshow in the east bay ended with a car engulfed in flames. no word if anyone was hurt or arrest made in either of those sideshows as developing news on a possible worker strike at kaiser permanente. kaiser said today that contract talks are continuing through the weekend. company says it is making progress on key issues. and recently reached tentative agreements in four key areas. a strike could begin on wednesday . it would be the largest health care strike in the us and specifically us history. more than 75,000 health care workers could walk off the job nationwide, including nursing assistants, pharmacists, x-ray and lab technicians, doctors and registered nurses would not take part. a vibrant day, a vibrant celebration in.

reflection of sunlight off the bay waters. and these are the forecast headlines. mostly clear skies overnight. sunny much warmer days lie ahead through the coming week and we may have some record heat in some areas wednesday through friday. so for tonight, mainly clear skies, just a little patch of low clouds near a portion of the coastline. overnight lows will be generally in the low to mid 50s. so comfortably cool, we'll call it. and then tomorrow, sunny skies breezy at the coast. highs will range from 63 at half moon bay to 70 at san francisco low to mid 70s around the bay shoreline and highs up to about 8081, maybe even 82 degrees in the warmest inland spots. now, we've talked about fleet week coming up. and if you want to see the blue angels flying over the next weekend here in san francisco is looking nice and sunny both days. sunny and warm on saturday, worn by san francisco standards and a high of about 77 degrees and still mild under sunny skies on sunday with a high here in the city of about 72 degrees. and here's the
