93. in napa, 95 in concord. that's a look at your hot weather forecast today. let's check in with gloria and see our traffic's doing on this thursday. good morning. >> all right. good morning to you, drew. so right now, we're taking a look at your san mateo county bridge camera and you can see that traffic is moving pretty smoothly, going to the peninsula westbound 92 from the toll plaza to foster city will take you about 11 minutes. and taking a look at your drive time, everything looking smooth today except westbound 580 from tracy to dublin. that's going to take you about 34 minutes. >> thank you, gloria. today, san francisco says a final farewell to dianne feinstein. san francisco city hall will be the backdrop for this afternoon's memorial service for the political trailblazer. yesterday, her body lie in state at city hall. and last night, some people felt it important enough to wait for more than an hour to see the late senator's casket. the public viewing was supposed to stop at seven, but the line was so long that feinstein's family and city officials kept extending it to

allow as many people to come by as possible while we were there, when the final person got inside before feinstein was finally escorted out around 815 last night. this morning, abc seven news reporter lena howland is live at city hall with details for today's memorial service. lena. reggie in the same place where her political career began , this is where the memorial service will be held for senator dianne feinstein just outside of san francisco city hall. >> and despite plans going back and forth all week, organizers have closed this service off to the public, making it by invitation only. we are expecting several other high profile faces to be in attendance. some of those include vice president kamala harris and california's congressional delegation, including feinstein's appointed replacement, senator laphonza butler. this comes after her public viewing inside of city hall yesterday when thousands came to pay their respects to the late senator and city's first female mayor. with a line

after mccarthy was ousted tuesday. >> just sad commentary on the house republican leadership that they wouldn't pay tribute to this great legislator, great senator and allow for a plane to bring her colleagues back to pay her final tribute. >> at least two republicans are seeking the speakership. jim jordan, a staunch supporter of former president trump and steve scalise, who is the current house majority leader. >> still no settlement on a contract deal this morning for tens of thousands of kaiser permanente workers. they're expected to spend a second day on the picket line. a variety of employees ranging from pharmacists to medical technicians in multiple states, walked out on the job. the union says its primary issue is a staffing shortage, causing people to burn out and quit. >> we are distressing the point out of safety patient care. a

patient crisis that we're in now because of short staffing and we're asking that they fix that and they fix it immediately. paid patients could see delays with appointments and prescriptions being filled because of the strike. >> kaiser put out a statement about negotiations. it reads in part, we remain committed to reaching a new agreement that continues to provide our employees with market leading wages, excellent benefits, generous retirement income plans, and valuable, and a move to end in campments. >> the city of san francisco is asking the supreme court for help. city officials, including mayor london breed, are asking the court to immediately overturn an appellate ruling made in 2022. the ruling requires local governments to provide shelter for the entire unhoused population before clearing encampments. according to a filing, city attorney david chu's. last fiscal year to house people

experiencing homelessness. but they would need an additional the city an additional $1.45 billion to shelter everyone who is homeless and officials say it's unrealistic. the city is attempting to make it easier to get people off the street and into housing. abc7 news reporter ryan curry spoke with leaders about what's changing. >> san francisco is removing a barrier that made it difficult for some on the streets to access shelter. the city's department of homelessness and supportive housing says people can now get a temporary place to stay without documentation. this is a real opportunity for us to move people directly off of the street and into housing. unhoused residents seeking shelter through the department once needed to show a driver's license or social security card. the department says oftentimes those experiencing homelessness couldn't provide those documents . >> it's what we knew was that there were a lot of people on the street who had been determined to need housing based

on their vulnerability, but that the system we were using wasn't effective in getting those folks into housing. >> this started as a pilot program back in june, and so far, the department says it helped 19 people without documentation. those people were then given 90 days to get the identification needed to continue receiving aid and the department will help them. they say the goal is to get vulnerable communities. the resources they need to get off the streets and stay off the streets. >> we're also focused on sustainable equity and really making sure that people all who we who we select for this and are working with for this are surrounded with the support they need so that they can actually maintain their ■housing. >> the city says about 350 units are available right now, but officials are prioritizing aid to people living on sidewalks instead of campers or rvs, essentially, this was the natural next step in what we call presumptive eligibility. >> we're going to presume that you are going to meet the needs and eligibility of this housing based on everything we know

visiting, we said, why? what's the reason? what's keeping you out and top of the list for san francisco was that the unhoused population there is an unsettling sight, disturbing even or they even indicate that it that there's a feeling that that it's not entirely safe or sanitary. >> 67% of those surveyed say the top three reasons they would consider moving out of the bay include high housing costs, quality of life and homelessness. >> the price of extending bar farther into the south bay is going up way up. in an announcement yesterday, the cta revealed the project is supposed to be, i should say, the projected cost of the final phase of the project bar to silicon valley has spiked from. 9.3 billion to 12.2 billion. vta officials blame the rising cost of construction on materials and labor prices. they're also pushing back the completion date for the project. it was supposed

moderate house republicans are pushing to expel congressman matt gaetz from the house gop conference and punish the seven others who voted to remove kevin mccarthy as house speaker. earlier, they were furious after mccarthy worked out a short term deal with democrats to keep the government funded. the earliest a decision could be made to expel congressman gaetz is tuesday. that's when house republicans returned for a conference meeting to hear from house speaker candidates. >> gaetz just got schooled by aoc and others. >> he was totally manipulated into doing this. >> i think there needs to be accountability. there needs to be consequences. i am tend to believe that our our dirty laundry should remain in our room. >> our laundry room. and so i think the conference has to have a serious conversation about that and about what what accountability there will be. >> congressman steve scalise says that he is running for the leadership role along with congressman jim jordan. one of the big issues is if the new speaker will support additional funding for ukraine. that was a

jose church. >> santa clara county officials now confirm 12 people were left there with no warning and no resources. acs, abc7 news south bay reporter zach fuentes has more on what we know and the support being offered. >> it all happened saturday around 8:00 at night. 12 people, some from venezuela and others from ecuador dropped off near this san jose church. officials with santa clara county said they were given no resources or direction. it was late at night that they arrived. >> they were looking around for, you know, where they might go or what what their next steps might be. and they ended up at the washington youth center. >> from there, they were connected with community groups who serve immigrants. andrea martinez manages the county's office of immigrant relations. she says few details are known about who sent the migrants to san jose from our understanding with our the reports from our partners on the ground who are directly supporting the migrants who have arrived, migrants were were previously detained in an el paso, texas, and were put on

a bus with a choice of colorado or california. this woman, who did not want to be identified, spoke with our partners at univision. she says she, her husband and three daughters were on that bus. >> otras personas de migration a unos hoteles. she says after getting to el paso, they were placed in hotels and eventually put on that bus by people she said were from immigrant action. >> right now, the county and community groups have come together to give the people food, case managers and places to stay. >> they have been through a lot in this journey from even starting before they they got on the bus. and so i think there are they're processing what they have been through. it's a traumatic experience. >> the county says it's working with partners to determine who sent the 12 migrants to san jose, tex. governor greg abbott's office told abc seven that they're still only bussing to d.c, new york city, chicago, philadelphia, denver and l.a. right now, santa clara county says they don't know if more busses could be on the way but have had a plan in place for this type of scenario for some

a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit accusing mcdonald's and wendy's of misleading the public by using undercooked patties in adverts, moments when properly cooked. the patties shrink. lawyers argued customers end up getting food less valuable than what was promised. but a federal judge said all companies use visually appealing images to build positive associations with their products. he also pointed to the restaurants, websites where customers can see how much the food weighs. the lawsuit was one of several filed against fast food companies recently by the same group of attorneys. google is betting big on artificial intelligence with its new pixel eight phones. the phone comes with ai built in so it can do things like summarize articles for you. it also has built in photo and video editing tools that allow ai to take a series of photos and then combine them into one picture

officers say three people got into a fight when gunshots rang out in the city of holyoke. it's about 90 miles from boston on stray bullets hit a bus passing by, hitting the pregnant woman who was on that bus. doctors were able to deliver the baby, but the newborn did not survive . >> it's very outrageous. i don't understand how much gun violence has to happen before something really changes in holyoke. but it's another day. it's just another day in holyoke. >> just hours before the shooting, police held a news conference about gunfire detection technology, which tracks shootings that tech picked up on yesterday's shooting, which helped officers take the three suspects into custody. >> the arraignment of the man accused of calling for the killing of rapper tupac shakur has been delayed. duane davis made his first court appearance yesterday with the case, but did not enter a plea. he asked a judge for a postponement. while he retains an attorney.
