was state to state, country to country, army to army. >> this is a massive terrorist attack that is gunning down israeli civilians in their towns, in their homes. and as we've seen so graphically, literally dragging people across the border with gaza. >> johnny asher says this video shows his wife and his daughters being taken hostage. the israeli government confirming at least 100 israeli citizens and soldiers are being held hostage in gaza. prime minister netanyahu saying the first stage is ending by the destruction of the vast majority of the enemy forces that infiltrated our territory. president biden speaking with netanyahu on sunday, informing him additional assistance for the israeli defense forces was already on its way, with more to follow in the coming days. the united states stands with israel will make sure that they have the help their citizens need, and they can continue to defend themselves. >> and now questions over intelligence failures that may have left israel blindsided by this attack. >> the 73 war was the only other war where they had this sort of

rallying in a show of support and a plea for peace. one of those demonstrations is happening right now in san francisco. and abc7 news reporter suzanne fawn is there live tonight. suzanne >> well, what a crowd out here tonight and you can see they're actually moving now. we're on montgomery between california and sacramento, easily 500 people here at least, and dozens of police officers. now, we know this is a very sensitive and divisive subject for both sides, given the hundreds of people killed and many more injured. but organizers called for this emergency rally that's now underway. these protesters say given what happened in israel, they want their position to be heard as well. here's a closer look a little bit earlier, a large group of protesters out here chanting free palestine. and it's definitely led to some tense moments. we saw community members stand up and counter-protest, holding the israeli flag. and then we saw police stepping in to help keep the peace. now, protesters here are pro-palestine. they want the

us to end aid to israel. they are also asking for an end to the military blockade of gaza. now they say they're rallying for an end to the occupation of palestine. many people around the world worry that the surprise attacks on israel by palestinian militants may be the beginning of a long and bloody war here. authorities say it is the worst attack inside israel borders for decades. and we talked to gordon hodge of the arab resource and organizing center. we asked about why the protesters are demonstrating today and if they condemn the attacks on israel. our goal here today is to draw attention to the $3.5 billion that the united states sends to israel, which is used to imprison to murder, to and to ethnically cleanse palestinians every day since this conflict started over 370 palestinians, many of whom are children, have been killed by israeli bombs >> 200 palestinians in the west bank this year alone, killed by by by israeli military and

of deadly violence in the country. nancy pelosi and mayor london breed vowing support. and i saying prayers for the people of israel. members of the jewish community from across the bay area gathering sunday at congregation sherith israel in san francisco to show solidarity in the wake of violence launched by hamas. >> this is the time to stand with us to stand with israel as we face a merciless, merciless enemy. >> we stand with israel. >> speaker emerita nancy pelosi drawing applause after saying there is bipartisan support and unity for israel in congress. pelo tsay sharing a personal story about her own friend in israel and she texted me just over. >> well yesterday that her niece and nephew and their infant child and had been murdered. so what does that say about these terrorists? i don't know.

air show today. air show brings out crowds of residents and spectators over san francisco's waterfront. the jets can hit speeds of 700mph. san francisco fleet week is an annual public event that honors the contributions of the men and women of the united states armed forces. another fleet week attraction drew a long line today. look at this line at san francisco, piers, 30 and 32. these people were waiting for a free tour of one of the amphibious carriers, cutters,

some residents signed a petition , an to delay the reopening as families continued to struggle to recover. the hawaii tourism authority says tourism is the number one driver of that state's economy. a live look now at santa cruz beach. hot temperatures brought lots of people out to the bay area coastline, but it has since cooled down the golden gate national recreation area posted this picture along with parking alerts yesterday. muir beach reached capacity on saturday and stinson stinson beach was nearly full. parkce says fleet weekht large crowds to crissy field and at least two of its parking lots were full to talk about that. spencer chris, it went from so hot out there to normal. >> it's a normal. exactly. temperatures dropped 20 degrees

and many bay area locations since this time yesterday. so we had extreme heat for about four days. and now people are saying, oh, it's chilly out here, so let's take a look. here's a look at our live doppler seven image. you can see clouds have returned to the coastline, the low clouds and fog and stratus as well. and that, of course, accounts for the cooldown along with this onshore breeze, which is quite brisk. a 24 mile per hour winds right now at sfo, almost 20mph here in san francisco. so let's take another look at that 24 hour temperature change. it is 18, 19, 20 degrees cooler right now than yesterday at this time in places like santa rosa, napa, san francisco and san carlos and much cooler in other places as well. here's the view from sutro tower looking at a couple of fingers of fog reaching out over san francisco under otherwise blue skies, 60 degrees here in the city right now, 66. in oakland, we have 72 at mountain view. san jose, 79, palo alto, 73 and 57 degrees at half moon bay. here's another view of the fog pushing through the golden

gate out over the bay from mt. tam. all the temperatures right now, 75 in santa rosa. novato, 79. napa, 76, 90. in fairfield. you can see how much hotter or warmer it is in the inland areas than those locations near the bay. and coast. so fairfield 90, concord 87, livermore 86. and the view from our rooftop camera looking across the breezy embarcadero. so these are our forecast headlines. much cooler weather will be with us the next few days. even cooler than today with a chance of showers tomorrow and perhaps tuesday as well. and we can expect drier and warmer weather beginning around midweek. so for tonight, we'll see clouds pushing, of course, across the bay and inland. there'll be some some sprinkles or light drizzle near the coastline. but more important is this frontal system dropping down from our northwest that's going to bring rain to the north bay tomorrow morning. and then as it sweeps southward, south and east of the golden gate, it'll weaken a little bit. that system will and break up into lighter, more widely scattered showers into the afternoon. it'll pretty much all wind down by tomorrow evening. we might get a little bit more

on tuesday. so by tuesday night, 11:00, rainfall totals will generally be under a 10th of an inch. now, overnight lows tonight, mainly upper 50, was much cooler than the last few nights highs tomorrow mid 60s at the coast, upper 60s to about 70 near the coast. the bay shoreline rather, and our inland areas which have been well into the 90s the last several days. only low 70s tomorrow. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so to much cooler days coming our way tomorrow and tuesday with a chance of showers both days but a stronger chance tomorrow. so then on wednesday a few clouds will linger but skies will be mainly sunny. it'll be slightly milder than tuesday and then we get a little bit of a warming trend. but not not a heat wave on thursday and friday before it turns slightly cooler again. next weekend. i think it's a really comfortable week ahead. >> never a dull moment with these weather conditions. >> things change rather sharply and suddenly they really do. >> yeah. no rain, though, no rain. >> no rain. i was just like light rain.
