an avenue exits, drive hours can instead take to 80 or go up 8-80 and cross over on the san mateo-hayward bridge. the highway is scheduled to reopen for the morning commute by monday at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning is your chance to check out a very rare spectacle in the sky. >> an annular solar eclipse will occur over parts of north central and south america. an annular solar eclipse happens when the moon is farthest in its orbit from earth, so it can't completely block the sun. instead, the sun's fiery light surrounds the moon, creating the so-called ring of fire effect. it's expected to begin at 9:13 a.m. tomorrow. and if it's too cloudy in the bay area, hey, you can on it live on the abc seven website or wherever you stream abc seven. >> we will get great pictures of that for you. i'm really kind of excited about this. it's very cool. >> it should be neat. but how cloudy is it going to be? >> spencer just how clear will
5:20 pm
the skies be at that hour of the morning? that's the question i'm trying to answer right now. we'll start with this live doppler seven, the looping image showing a weak frontal system swinging through northern california and producing some light rain or showers over the north bay, mainly during the evening hours. and late night and overnight hours along with that, with the clouds and the showers we've got brisk onshore flow of wind right now up to 20mph here in san francisco. and significant cooldown from 24 hours ago. it's about 5 to 10 degrees cooler in most bay area locations than at this time last night. here's the view from sutro tower looking out over san francisco as the skies get darker and grayer. 58 degrees here in the city right now. we have mid to upper 60s at oakland mountain view, 72 at san jose. palo alto, 69 and 59 at half moon bay. and from emeryville looking across the port of oakland towards the south western sky, we see some breaks in the clouds. it's going to be a little bit brighter tomorrow morning in the south bay than in other parts of the bay area. by the way, if you're interested in seeing the eclipse, 67 degrees
5:21 pm
right now in santa rosa, 72 at novato, napa, 70. and we have mid 70s at fairfield, concord and livermore. one final live view from our rooftop camera looking toward the bay bridge and these are our forecast headlines. we'll have a chance of north bay showers tonight and early tomorrow morning. clouds will linger or may linger into early sunday and we expect sunny or warmer conditions beginning sunday afternoon. here's our forecast animation going into the evening hours. you can see those scattered showers, maybe some periods of light rain pushing again, mainly through the north bay. and winding down after about midnight. but the clouds will linger and will continue to see lots of cloud cover going into tomorrow morning. i stopped at at 930 because because the eclipse is expected to begin around the partial eclipse, i should say, 805 at its maximum about 9:20 a.m. and then the partial eclipse ends around 10:42 a.m. so it looks like the clouds are going to linger for much of that time period, making it rather iffy in terms of whether we'll get a good view. so looking at conditions that we expect in terms of cloud cover at 930 tomorrow morning, it looks like
5:22 pm
the south bay santa clara valley will have fairly clear skies, but lots of cloud cover will probably linger over much of the remainder of the bay area rainfall totals from whatever falls tonight will amount to only about 1 or 2 hundredths of an inch of rainfall. so this is a very light rainfall system. overnight lows will be mainly in the mid 50s highs tomorrow, mid 60s at the coast low to mid 70s around the bay shoreline mid to upper 70s inland. and here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so we get sunnier and warmer conditions on sunday mid 80s inland but it gets a little bit cloudier sunday night into monday and it'll cool down a bit monday by a few degrees then sunnier and longer warming trend begins on tuesday and that continues through the end of the week. we'll see some upper 80s late in our inland areas next week, up to about 80 degrees around the bay shoreline and 70 on the coast. so pretty mild to warm going into the middle and latter part of next week, pushing 93rd week in october. yeah that's pretty warm. >> thanks, spencer. okay >> we'll be right back. this is
