fog out there this morning. we'll warm pretty quickly by noon, you'll see we're well into the 70s and low 80s across the board and we'll continue to warm even more. we're going into the mid 80s. today in the city, we'll start to see low 90s up here in our hottest spots away from the coast. so we're getting toasty out there later today. that heat advisory in the south bay 91 in san jose, 84 in the city will go to 85. in oakland, 89. in napa, 88. the high in santa cruz tomorrow is even hotter than today. we'll take a look at those numbers coming up in about eight minutes. let's check in with jobina and see how traffic's doing this morning. >> thank you, drew. good morning, everybody. so we are starting with the richmond, san rafael bridge because we still have that sigalert in effect due to that deadly crash that happened last week. so a couple things to note here for people that are commuting in to marin county. so this is everyone traveling westbound on 580. we still have three lanes closed here in this area and also wide loads are not allowed on the bridge right now. so you need to take highway 37 if you want to

get to the north bay from their live picture here from the san mateo bridge where everything is moving at the limit. and we do have some slow spots to point out right now, tracy to dublin around 36 minutes for your drive time. and then antioch to concord and san rafael to san francisco are moving smoothly. kumasi thanks, jobina. >> new developments on street vendors in san francisco. the city is now taking an aggressive stance against them all. street vending on mission street and around bart stations will soon be banned. abc abc7 news reporter lena howland live in san francisco with more on how these sales are putting people in danger. lena well, come november street vending will soon be a thing of the past off of mission street. >> and that's because supervisor hillary ronen office says the sale of stolen stuff is putting other people in danger. now her office says they've seen mission street flooded with large scale fencing operation over the last year and a half, which involves the buying and selling of stolen goods. just last week, police chief bill scott said investigators recently recovered $17,000 worth of stolen goods

all being sold on mission street from lululemon and victoria's secret. and these fencing operations have led to some major safety concerns. as an aide to supervisor ronen says the situation is so bad that city workers fear for their safety when asking vendors for their permits to the point where our public works inspectors are now wearing bulletproof vests while they're walking the streets. >> they are escorted by police, but that is the level of danger that's out there for city workers. they have been subject to attacks, assaults, verbal and physical assaults. >> and so it really makes it difficult for them to do their job. >> san francisco police chief bill scott is well aware of the problems in this area, along with other city leaders. he blames a 2018 state law that they say basically decriminalized street vending for some of the recent problems with stolen goods. now, supervisor ronan's office says that they are working on finding an alternative place for vendors

to legally sell their items in a permanent way. live in san francisco, lena howland, abc seven news. >> a huge change for the city. lena, thank you. san francisco mayor london breed is taking her plan to increase police power throughout the city. straight to the voters. >> we are taking something to the ballot. we're going around the board of supervisors. we're going around the police commission. we're going straight to the people of san francisco. >> mayor breed introduced her new, safer san francisco measure yesterday. it would roll back some of the police commission's restrictions on things like pursuits and the use of surveillance technology. breed says the measure would also limit police paperwork, giving officers more time to patrol the streets. the mayor says she's putting this initiative on the march 2024 ballot. the police commission says they are in full support of breed's plan. >> mayor breed is also pushing for a controversial drug treatment initiative that will be on the ballot in march. if

this is passed, the measure would require the single adults with a substance use disorder to take part in treatment programs in order to continue receiving welfare from the city and county . it would also require people in assistance programs like food stamps to undergo screenings for dependency on illegal drugs. financial assistance would be revoked if people refuse to get help with their substance abuse. we know the drug crisis touches on a lot of issues, and if you're looking for an ally when it comes to things like abuse, mental illness and more, you can turn to abc7 news.com/take action. we put together a list of local resources to get started and san francisco has introduced a new labor law aimed at better protecting employees. >> the pro act legislation would hold bad contractors accountable. they will be monitored for things like wage theft and unfair labor practices . any company that violates the rules would be eliminated from bidding on city contracts for future projects. >> and this time we're families are suffering from inflation.

least 500 people taking shelter inside the hospital were killed and israel has denied it, fired a rocket at the hospital, saying instead that it was a misfire from a militant group in gaza known as the palestinian islamic jihad. president biden has called for his national security team to investigate that further. he spoke about the incident with israeli prime minister netanyahu. i was deeply saddened and outraged by the explosion at the hospital in gaza yesterday. >> and based on what i've seen, it appears as though it was done by the other team, not not you. >> president biden says the us supports the protection of civilian life during the conflict, but president biden was also supposed to meet with leaders from jordan, egypt and the palestinian authority today. but those meetings were canceled. we're learning that the biden administration is drafting a 100 billion foreign aid package that includes security assistance for israel.

another bay area robotaxi company is reported cutting jobs. according to our media partners at the sf standard. waymo is laying off more workers. google parent company alphabet owns waymo and google laid off dozens of workers at the start of the year. in march, another batch was let go as well a waymo spokesperson tells the standard the new round of cuts are part of an internal reorganization process. spokesman didn't say how many employees would be losing their jobs, only saying that the number is small. the city of vallejo is honoring bay area rap legend e-40 this weekend. that's where he was born. earl stevens. that's his real name, will receive a key to the city on saturday. on top of his illustrious music career, he's donated to numerous charities in vallejo over the years. a one mile stretch of magazine street is going to be named e-40 way as well. this is a street he lived on as a kid and it was a part of his 2015 album. well the holidays, lest we forget. two

hot temperatures today. we have heat advisory in the south bay today where some of our warmest areas going into the 90s. but the city, oakland into the mid 80s. today it is going to feel well above average. we have a lot of sunshine out there tonight. we'll keep clear skies and temperatures. we get relief in the overnight hours from this warm weather. we'll dip into the 50s, however, watch what happens on thursday. future tracker temperatures, it is going to get hot around here. and this is when we have the possibility of breaking records. a 90in the city tomorrow afternoon, the same in oakland, going to 94. in san jose, 96 in danville, 95, in santa rosa, even along the coast, we are going into the upper 80s to near 90. in half moon bay, we do have a heat advisory tomorrow that encompasses a huge portion of the bay area for these hot temperatures. thankfully, cooler weather does move in here by friday. but tomorrow we will have a high surf advisory going into effect for large breakers. waves could exceed 20ft along our coastline. so please be

chief bill scott says legit vendors and vendors want to be able to sell their items and make a living. but there have been a number of people taking advantage. and now he says markets have exploded where this never existed. just last week he said investigators recently recovered $71,000 worth of stolen goods from lululemon and victoria's secret, all being sold on mission street. now city workers are fearing for their lives when asking vendors for permits, with some being subject to verbal and physical attacks. >> yes, we've done operations. we've we've arrested some fencers. you know, people that are is what they do. they buy stolen goods for very little money and then they sell it on the on the you know, the black market, if you will, along with other city leaders. >> chief scott blames a 2018 state law that they say basically decriminalized street vending for some of the recent problems with stolen goods. now, supervisor ronan's office says they are working on finding an

standard of reporting. the first incident happened on saturday, near 17th and guerrero streets. a mail carrier was shoved to the ground, their keys stolen. officials say thankfully the worker wasn't injured. and another mail carrier was targeted on tuesday near 26th street in san jose avenue. a person tried and failed to rob that postal worker. authorities say these incidents are targeted and they affect thousands of customer hours. the us postal inspection service is offering $150,000 in reward money for any information leading to an arrest in these cases. i hate to hear that they're just trying to do their job. >> a screen printing shop in arcade in san francisco is investigating after their beloved spice girls poster was

matter where you are. you can see these temperatures well above average. lots of 90s on the board from santa rosa to oakland to san jose at 94, 96, in danville, even the city will hit about 90 degrees the coast, minimal relief. it is going to get warm there as well. upper 80s for half moon bay and point rays as well. so we'll find cooler weather quickly arriving here on friday, though. so this warm spell lasts about two days today and tomorrow. but tomorrow records are possible. that heat advisory expands to include almost all of the bay area tomorrow afternoon for those hot temperatures, not only that, we'll have some pretty dangerous surf tomorrow. high surf advisory will be in effect tomorrow. we could see breakers exceeding 20ft. so i know folks may try to go to the coast, get a little bit of relief from some of this heat. but just know that ocean current will be very active with dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. the next seven days for you. we're heating up today. records are possible tomorrow and then it's noticeably cooler
