on that beach in aruba 18 years ago. plus the announcement from netflix as it prepares to raise prices for some subscribers and is hitting the snooze button harmful or helpful for your body? what researchers have learned. from abc york this is america this morning. good thursday morning, everyone. i'm rhiannon ally and i'm andrew dymburt. >> we begin with the war in the middle east. president biden will address the nation from the oval office tonight, just back from his visit to israel. >> he says he negotiated a deal that will deliver some aid to palestinian civilians in gaza. biden says he also urged israel not to be consumed by rage after the october 7th. hamas attack, warning israel not to make the same mistakes the us made after nine divided by 11. >> an israeli official reportedly told biden the effort to dismantle the hamas inside gaza could take years. in the meantime, the humans suffering and protests around the world are raising more concern this

morning. president biden says israel and egypt have agreed to allow some humanitarian aid into gaza after blocking all supplies in response to the hamas attack on israel nearly two weeks ago. i got no pushback. >> virtually none, president biden says about 150 trucks loaded with water, food and other supplies are waiting on the egyptian side of the rafah border crossing, but only about 20 will be allowed into gaza tomorrow. >> a test to distribute aid without benefiting hamas. many families in gaza are low on supplies are down to one meal a day. >> we sleep every night fearing that we will never wake up again. i hugged my children's. they slept very near to me and they are scared. >> on air force one overnight, president biden said he was blunt with prime minister benjamin netanyahu about getting aid into gaza. >> israel has been badly victimized, but, you know, the truth is that if they have an opportunity to relieve suffering

of people who are have nowhere to go, if they don't, they'll be held accountable in ways that may be unfair. >> biden spent about eight hours in israel yesterday, arriving after the deadly hospital explosion in gaza that reportedly killed hundreds of people. israel provided what it calls proof that the explosion came from a misfired rocket, launched by palestinian militants. experts say the sound of the impact is also a major clue. >> what's unique about this video is the sound, the screaming sound of a high speed rocket. this is not the sound of an airstrike. it's something moving very, very fast. >> experts also say the damage is not typical for israeli airstrikes with no large impact crater and little structural damage. video also shows a rocket traveling toward israel around the time of the blast. what we see is a big fireball that's what you usually see out of a rocket or something where the fuel, the residual fuel is

right. there could be another vote for the speaker later today . while some lawmakers say that they have been threatened over their votes so far this morning, some house republicans and their families claim to be getting death threats for voting against congressman jim jordan for house speaker. nebraska congressman don bacon says his wife has received messages warning her to convince her husband to support jordan. >> it's crossing crossing boundaries. there's always, you know, we're going to primary and this thing, but i'm sort of used to that personally. but yeah, trying to bully my wife is wrong. >> and iowa congresswoman mariannette miller-meeks says she received, quote, credible death threats and a barrage of threatening calls. jordan responding saying, quote, no american should accost another for their beliefs. we condemn all threats against our colleagues and it is imperative live that we come together, stop its abhorrent. >> a speaker has not been elected. >> jordan lost his second bid

>> the situation quickly escalated. >> step back here. now you're getting tased. >> deputy buck aldridge ordered kerr to the back of his truck while pointing a taser at him, directing kerr to place his hands on the truck and then behind his back. either put your hands behind your back because you're getting tased. kerr and aldridge then argue. kerr raises his left hand and the deputy discharges his taser. handsout . kerr >> shots fired. >> the deputy handcuffing kerr later providing medical assistance before he later died. kerr had been wrongfully convicted of armed robbery in 2003. he spent more than a decade and a half in a florida prison before he and his grieving mother with this message. i want justice for him and i want the world to know that leonard kerr is my son. >> my baby. he's not a liar. >> that deputy is now on administrative leave pending an investigation.

gma. now to the natalee holloway case. >> after 18 years, joran van der sloot has asked to killing the alabama teenager. he's now describing in his own words what happened. and nearly two decades after she went missing during a high school graduation trip to aruba, we're now hearing from natalee holloway's confessed killer. she asked to go back to her hotel, but i was just trying to get dropped off a little bit further away from her hotel so we could walk back. joran van der sloot now confessing to prosecutors as part of his guilty plea in a federal extortion case where he was accused of demanding $250,000 from holloway's mother in exchange for information about her daughter. van der sloot, seen here with holloway at an aruba casino hours before her disappearance, says the two were later kissing on the beach. but then holloway denied his further advances. >> she needs me. she ends up

needing me in the crotch when she needs me in the crotch. i get up on the beach and i kick her extremely hard. and in the face. >> then van der sloot says he found a cinder block on the beach and bludgeoned her. >> i decided to take her and. to put her into the ocean. i walk up, up to about my knees into the ocean and i push her off into the sea. >> her body was never found. >> it shocks the conscience when you extort money from the victim. that you bludgeoned his mother. who does that? >> holloway's mother says with van der sloot's confession, the family's long nightmare is finally over. >> i did what i had to do as a mother to find answers as to what happened to my daughter. and i felt great about today and i did everything possible. as for van der sloot, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. >> he now heads back to peru, where he's already serving 28 years for murdering another woman. van der sloot apologize

media. some families who have lost children to a drug overdose are now suing snapchat, demanding changes to protect kids. here's abc's andrea fujii. >> this morning, dozens of parents are pleading for change, suing social media platform snapchat claiming their children died after taking illegal drugs sold by dealers on the app. >> snapchat is the largest open air drug market we have in the united states, especially when it comes to our kids. >> putting your kid on snapchat is like dropping him off in the most dangerous drug filled neighborhood and hoping he does well for himself. more than 60 families have joined the suit that claims snapchat's features, including automatically deleted messages and the my eyes only privacy make illegal activities harder to track. >> amy nevill remembers the night her 14 year old son, aleksandr, told her about his drug use. >> wanted to experiment with oxy. i got some from a dealer on snapchat. it has a hold on me and i don't know why. alex died
