find some of the images in this report disturbing. this morning as gaza braces for an expected full scale ground invasion, israel launching hundreds more air attacks. its defense forces say they're targeting hamas but hundreds of civilians are also being killed according to the hamas run health authorities. overnight one refugee camp hit. the health ministry saying more than 40 were killed in this one strike alone, most women and children. rescuers clawing through the rubble to reach survivors. young children rushed to the hospital. that same camp was hit by shelling sunday. one palestinian journalist dropping his camera during different strikes sunday, scooping up these two wounded toddlers to get them urgent medical care. gaza's become a place of death and destruction. building after building razed to the ground. the palestinian journalist who shot this footage reportedly killed shortly after filming it

according to the palestinian journalist union. more than 5,000 killed in gaza with over 15,000 injured according to local health officials. israel retaliating after the terror attack after hamas murdered 1,400, taking 200 hostages, including americans. this as the clashes intensify along israel's northern border with the iranian backed hezbollah in lebanon. more israeli towns now being evacuated. overnight the idf releasing this video that shows an israeli aircraft striking two hezbollah who were thought to launch missiles towards israel. in a rare move, israel also striking the occupied west bank, killing at least two people hitting this mosque they say was being used by militants. as the situation in gaza grows more desperate, humanitarian aid now slowly trickling in. 34 trucks sent through the rafa crossing between egypt and gaza

over the weekend, bringing much needed food, water and medical supplies though not as much as aid agencies say they need. hospitals there on the brink of collapse. one doctor forced to use household vinegar as an anti-septic. now a u.s. official telling abc news the biden administration is now asking israel to delay its ground invasion to allow more humanitarian aid to get in, and the remaining 222 hostages out. dozens more aid trucks are waiting at the border on the egyptian side. 34 were allowed to cross in the last two days. there's normally around 300 every day. aid agency asking for fuel to be allowed to cross. so far that hasn't happened. they say hospitals are running out of power, but it's also needed for sewage facilities, those kinds of sites. the u.n. saying the situation in the south of gaza, this is where people were told to go, is so dire that some families are deciding to pack up and head

back home. you can hear the bombing going on. the situation perilous for so many. george? >> lot of desperation. thank you very much. u.s. stepping up its show of force in the middle east amid concerns of a wider war. chief global affairs anchor martha raddatz is tracking the military movements. good morning, martha. >> reporter: good morning, george. this morning the uss eisenhower aircraft carrier strike group that was set to join the uss ford strike group in the mediterranean is instead heading to middle eastern waters. that is a major change and a troubling sign. the secretary of defense telling abc there's a prospect of a significant escalation of attacks on our troops and our people throughout the region, and because of that, we're going to do what's necessary to make sure that our troops are in a good position, protected, and that we have the ability to respond. the war ships meant to deter iran and its proxy hezbollah from widening the war. the pentagon also sending a thad missile battery to intercept long distance missiles and more patriot battalions to protect

those troops in the region. additional u.s. forces have also been put on alert. this follows the missile and drone intercept late last week by a u.s. war ship in the red sea, and it is clear the pentagon is concerned more attacks could follow. robin? >> that is clear. all right. as always, appreciate your reporting, martha. now to the two american hostages freed from gaza. their family is speaking about their ordeal first on gma this morning. matt gutman is in tel aviv with that interview. good morning, matt. >> reporter: hey, good morning, robin. we spent a couple of hours this morning with the cousins of judith and natalie. 13 members of that single family were either killed or kidnapped. in so many ways that one family is still being held captive by hamas, fearful if they reveal any details about the condition under which the released family members were held, their captive could take vengeance.

the family, judith and natalie just been released over the weekend, their family had been holding their breath for two weeks, waiting for this moment. what was it like seeing them for the first time? >> i never felt this intense in my life. >> reporter: their cousins describing the ordeal for the first time this morning. >> just to say we don't have the privilege to be happy or to celebrate. we don't have the privilege to mourn. we cannot put it aside. we cannot rest. getting judith and natalie back, was not the end. it's the beginning. >> reporter: 13 members of this one family kidnapped or killed in october 7th in that massive coordinated attack by hamas. judith an natalie among 220 others taken. >> they knew exactly what they want to do. they put the whole family in the kitchen on the floor.

had them wait there at gun point. >> reporter: and then silence. no news until late friday night. that image, judith and natalie on their own two feet, safe. >> i started getting messages and screen shots from friends of mine. they say they are releasing an american mother and daughter. is this your family? is this your family? >> reporter: wearing the same clothes they were in when they were kidnapped two weeks earlier. you feel lucky and guilty. >> yeah. there's so many others we don't know why them. for me, lucky and guilty. >> reporter: mother and daughter speaking with president biden after their release. >> i just want to thank you for what you have done for israel. >> look, that's been long serving. i'm just delighted we could get you out. we were working on it for a long time. we're gonna get them all out, god willing. >> reporter: the families of the hostages now trying to pressure the israeli government to hold off on a ground invasion until a hostage deal can be negotiated.

is there a concern that if this ground invasion of the gaza strip begins, that a window would close for getting your family members back? >> the first thing, with no prior conditions, should be hostages. that's one thing on the table at the moment. nothing else precedes that. >> reporter: i'm told israeli officials and the fbi have been mining the family judith and natalie. pretty granular details about who held them. could it have been senior hamas officials or low ranking guards? who were they held with? were there other hostages there? what did they smell or hear around them? were they held above ground or in tunnels? all of those details could help provide key intelligence about the other hostages. george? >> matt gutman, thanks. capitol hill, where there's no speaker of the house, left wide open after the defeat of jim jordan. nine candidates have jumped into the race. senior congressional correspondent rachel scott is tracking all the chaos. good morning, rachel. >> reporter: george, good morning.

20 days, still no speaker of the house. republicans are moving back wards. they dropped their nominee as speaker and are starting the process all over again. so now there are nine republicans who say they are running to be the next speaker of the house. this ranges from the number 3 republican tom emmer to veterans like pete sessions to newcomers like byron donalds, who is only serving his second term. of those nine only two voted to certify the 2020 election. one is congressman tom emmer, a member of republican leadership who just scored the endorsement of former speaker of the house kevin mccarthy. one problem for emmer, donald trump privately told allies that he does not support him. those allies are starting a campaign against him. in just a few hours republicans will meet behind closed doors and will meet with the candidates with the hope of selecting a new nominee tomorrow. right now it's unclear if anyone will be able to unite this bitterly divided republican party, rebecca. >> starting over all over again. okay, rachel, thank you. we turn now to the search for

the man suspected of gunning down a maryland judge in his drive way. authorities say it happened just hours after the judge ruled against him in a custody case. our chief justice correspondent pierre thomas is in washington with more. good morning, pierre. >> reporter: rebecca, good morning. the u.s. marshals have joined the search for a suspect police believe is desperate and fueled by rage. this morning a maryland suburb of washington, d.c. on edge as police search for the suspect accused of assassinating a local judge. pedro ergote on the run after allegedly murdering the judge andrew wilkinson after he ruled in favor of his ex-wife in a custody battle over their four children. >> we think the judge was targeted. >> reporter: just hours before he was shot multiple times in his drive way, judge wilkinson ruled ergote should have no visitation and contact with his children or mother unless initiated by her. police discovering his car, 2009 mercedes suv like this one, about eight miles away from the

scene of the murders. the community shocked at the cold blooded murder of a judge, who was known as a soft spoken family man. >> it's not fair. i will remember that he encouraged people an served people. >> reporter: the judge is the third state judge nationally in the last three years shot by someone who had a case before their court. and in the last two years there have been more than 7,000 threats against federal judges. new jersey federal judge salas has been calling for more judicial security after her son was killed by a man targeting her. >> we are seeing lives lost and the potential for more lives to be lost if we don't take action now. >> reporter: the marshals are offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to ergote's arrest. robin, it's a dangerous situation. >> it really is pierre, thank you. now the frightening midair close call between two passenger jets.

the faa is investigating after the planes came dangerously close to each other near the airport in portland, oregon. kayna whitworth has that story. >> reporter: this morning the faa investigating yet another close call in the sky. this time between an alaska airlines and sky west passenger plane at portland international airport. >> 2405. >> reporter: a large plane arriving from orange county, california, when hits sudden adverse wind conditions forcing it to do a go around. >> stay right. cleared for takeoff. >> reporter: that sky west flight, headed for seattle, taking off while the alaska flight was veering right toward them in a go around pattern. just 266 vertical feet separating the two planes according to data from flight radar 24. midair collision happen when flights get within 500 feet of

each other. according to the faa, an air traffic controller quickly instructing the alaska flight to turn away. >> this is probably a very positive thing. it shows how controllers and pilots are constantly watching each other's backs. >> reporter: alaska airlines conducting an internal review of the incident and saying in a statement, the aircraft maintained a safe amount of lateral separation throughout the entire event. now the faa is taking action to prevent situations like this. i spoke with one pilot who says they train for a go around in a simulator, but they rarely do it in an actual plane. rebecca? >> wow. such a close call. thank you very much. we turn now to who is about to punch their ticket to the world series? will reeve is here with more on the unofficial texas state championship heading into game 7 tonight. good morning, will. >> reporter: good morning. hi, everyone. what are the two best words in

two years since his father-in-law was found shot dead, his mother critically injured. investigators say since then they have worked tirelessly piecing together what little evidence they had. two surveillance videos they now say link danny serafini to the deadly shootings. the former major league baseball pitcher waking up behind bars this morning. danny serafini charged with the death of his father-in-law two years after the case went cold. 49-year-old serafini and 33-year-old samantha scott were arrested friday in connection to the 2021 murder of robert gary spore. the 70-year-old's body was found inside his north lake tahoe home with a gun shot wound. >> it's a huge loss. my brother was real close, the two of us best friends. >> reporter: investigators also linking serafini and scott to the attempted murder of the victim's wife, 68-year-old wendy wood spore who was left in critical condition after being

shot in the head multiple times. in and out of rehab, she died a year later. the former baseball player is still married to erin, one of the victim's daughters. scott, the others suspect, one of her close friends. in a statement erin writing, i loved my parents very much and i miss them. i wish they were here to watch my kids grow up. police releasing surveillance video showing a hooded man they believe may have been serafini outside the home hours before the shooting. >> how about dan serafini. >> reporter: serafini was a first round pick in the 1992 mlb draft spending more than a decade pitching for six different teams in the major leagues. >> pretty much a kid's dream. >> reporter: but his transition to life after baseball proved challenging. >> i'm thinking what a disappointment i am to everybody. >> reporter: in june 2015 he appeared on a show that revealed he lost his $14 million fortune following a series of bad investments and a bitter divorce

settlement from his first wife. his second wife erin, the victims' daughter, detailed the toll the financial stress was taking on her husband. >> his personality has definitely changed. i miss my old husband. >> reporter: following the arrest, the victim's other daughter adrian saying in a statement, this was a heinous calculated crime. my parents have been incredibly generous to daniel serafini and erin throughout their marriage despite being pressed for my opinion, i cannot comment on my sister's level of involvement at this time. so as recently as this past summer erin, the suspect's wife told reporters she had no idea who killed her parents. her sister also saying in a statement she has held on to her parents ashes, never feeling right to scatter them without the justice they deserve. she said these arrests, they can finally rest in peace. >> some painful closure there. okay. thank you very much for your reporting.

emotional abuse from an overpowering coach while part of the university of utah's gymnastics team. the 20-year-old seen here landing a perfect 10 at the pac 12 in january did not name a coach in her post. >> tough landing! >> reporter: but tom farden has been the program's sole head coach since 2020. the university recently investigating farden, a report finding while he more than likely threw a stop watch and cell phone in frustration in the presence of student athlete, he did not engage in any acts of physical abuse, emotional abuse or harassment as designed by safe sport code. farden responding to the investigation saying it has been painful to learn that the negative impacts that my words and actions have created. i am fully committed to improving our student athlete experience. >> if we've learned anything it's that we should be listening to every single athlete. when someone like kara speaks, as she has, and has the courage and confidence and fortitude to come forward in this manner and

according to hamas health officials. israel retaliating after the terror attack where hamas murdered at least 1,400, taking more than 200 hostages, including americans. this as the clashes intensify along israel's northern border with the iranian backed hezbollah in lebanon. more israeli towns now being evacuated. in a rare move, israel also striking the occupied west bank, killing at least two people, hitting this mosque, they say, has been used by militants. as the situation in gaza grows more desperate, humanitarian aid now slowly trickling in. 34 trucks sent through the rafa crossing between egypt and gaza over the weekend, bringing much needed food, water and medical supplies, though not as much as aid agencies say they need. as we've been reporting, we are hearing maybe another bunch of aid is coming across. as we keep saying, aid agencies want far more than is currently being allowed.

[ laughter ] [ applause ] >> we have to stick together. >> can't we just say, you go there. you do not hold back. thank you for not holding back. in the first chapter you write about your dui in 2015 that led to you going to rehab. you said at that time, what did you say? that you'd be okay. >> i didn't want to kill myself.

in my stupid foggy said, i said, if i die, i have done everything. got a sitcom. played with the beach boys. what a fool. it was hard. i set out to write a hero's story. i did this, i did that. no, man. it turned into a human story. without truth it's paralysis, i think. i was like, it just came out. >> was there a moment when you decided to stick gears? >> pretty early. i started to read it. i was like, this is bull. that's not real. you know? why do it, i guess, is the thing? it's also a love letter to all the beautiful people that have been in and out of my life. i wanted to highlight that. >> one of the areas that you went there is, was i'm sure very difficult. you were sexually abused as a kid. decided now is the time. something that you had known for a bit, or realized, you remembered this happened but you decided this book was the place to do it.

>> i have been advocating for child abuse for close to 40 years. this organization called child help, prevention of child abuse. about five years ago i was at a charity. i started to write out a speech. it just came back. i hadn't thought about it in 30 years. i started crying. i thought, do i talk about it tonight? no, tonight is about the kids. i'm gonna pack it away. i forgot. i was doing the reading. i was like, this came up. i better put this in, put this in here. already i have had so many friends of mine text me and call me, my god, that happened to me. i haven't been able to talk about it. i think it's 1 out of every 25 boys before they turn 18. those numbers have to be low because certainly boys don't talk about it. i thought, well, maybe this is the time. >> you also write about losing your best friend, bob saget. >> yeah. i started off with the first chapter which was the dui, worst moment of my life and the five stages of grief there were. sex, drugs, lot more terrible stuff.

then i wrote the bob chapter. and the five stages of grief were therapy and family and health and meditation. and then i had to get through it. the bob part, his wife called me the other day crying. if you don't know bob and you read this book, you know the real bob. you did a beautiful job representing him. important thing is i talk about him lots. because if i don't, he's listening somewhere, right? [ laughter ] >> there had to be so many parts of this, as you just described that were hard. it surprised you the hardest part in writing the book was about "full house." why was that so hard for you to write about? >> i know how important the show is to people. i discovered my story along the way. i never thought i'd write a book ever. as i was writing i thought, that's interesting. i tried to hone in on the human moments.

the "full house" i knew it was important to people. the creator of the show was over the other day. he was writing a book. said when did you come to terms with "full house?" i said, when i wrote the book. i never wrote it down. critics got in my ear. i knew the show was corny at times. it wasn't meant for you if you don't get it. underneath, in lieu of sophistication, there was sweetness. it gave time for the brain to step aside and the heart to feel something. soon as i realized that i went, oh, i get it. >> did you feel the concept when you were doing the show? >> i mean, they told me it was going to be like bussom buddies. i learned to love it pretty soon. bob and i did not get along. that's where i started the "full house" stuff. we had very different processes. i kale from sitcoms. i worked with jack klugman. bob was addicted to laughs. it was a drug for him. he had to make people laugh. it wasn't getting in the show.

it was the crew. i loved the crew. great to see you, dr. sutton. >> good morning. >> this new report is brewing evidence that noise exposure is a public health threat. one of the reasons why is children have smaller ear canals. that exposes them to intensification of that higher frequency sound. it cited some important numbers. the average use listening level, average volume kids listen to volume at is 70 to 100. that's the upper limit of normal or range for most of our head phone output. the average output for most head phones ranges, again, from 70 to 100. noise above 70 for prolonged noise at 100 can cause damage in minutes and over 120 can cause immediate damage. it's important to pay attention to volume settings. keep them to 60% to 70% total. >> 60% to 70%.
