the facility to shut down the head of the muslim republic denounced the incident. >> the chaos came as israeli forces, backed by tanks, leveled air and artillery strikes at gaza as israel took aim at hamas. abc's justin finch joins us now from washington. good morning, justin, to you. >> andrew good morning. and israel now demanding russian officials take action after reports of an anti-semitic mob storming a russian airport targeting passengers arriving on a flight from tel aviv this morning. an apparent sign of present middle east tensions reverberating thousands of miles away. new video circulating online showing chaos at this airport in the predominantly muslim russian republic of dagestan. russian media reporting a mob of hundreds rushing that airport, chanting anti-semitic slogans. some making their way onto the tarmac , targeting passengers from a flight from tel aviv. health officials say more than 20 were injured and israel condemning

the incident, pressing russia to protect the safety of all israeli citizens and jews and act resolutely against the rioters at the israel-gaza border. airstrikes escalating. the israeli defense forces bolstering its gaza ground offensive against hamas militants despite matching armored tanks into the palestinian territory. prime minister benjamin netanyahu saying israel is now in an expanded second phase of war. as the israeli pm and president biden speaking via phone with biden, saying israel needs to defend itself in a manner consistent with international humanitarian law across gaza, death and destruction, food and water running low. the united nations warning of a worsening humanitarian crisis. the agency says thousands of gazans broke into their warehouses, taking basic survival items, calling it

dead at his los angeles home. >> investigators say perry was discovered saturday afternoon uncon icious in his hot tub. but by the time police arrived, it was too late to save him. >> according to additional units and a supervisor respond to the bluefield drive, officers immediately put up a white tent to shield the scene from paparazzi as helicopters swarmed overhead. >> according to tmz, perry, who posted this photo from his jacuzzi last week, had been in good spirits earlier in the day and had played pickleball for two hours at a nearby club. the l.a. county medical examiner finished their autopsy sunday finding no obvious signs of trauma and no evidence of foul play. but the report did not reveal a cause of death pending a toxicology report which could take weeks. >> you're you're going to leave me like this, perry, best known for his role as chandler on friends. okay. but if you don't come back soon, there's pretty much nothing i can do about it openly struggled with addiction throughout his career, revealing in an interview with diane sawyer how severe his drug use

pence dropped out of the race. pence had not yet qualified for the third republican primary debate set for next week. in announcing his decision to suspend his campaign, pence said it's become clear to him that this is not his time. but he vowed to keep fighting, never leave the fight for conservative values. >> and i will never stop fighting to elect principal republican leaders to every office in the land. so help me god. pence had struggled in the polls and faced backlash for certifying the 2020 election results. >> residents of maine took time to mourn days after the mass shooting that stunned the entire state. >> the goal of the gathering lift up those left to grieve the victims. it came just two days after the suspect was found dead. and as new details emerged about the weeks and months leading up to the killings, here's abc's derek dennis. as race at the top my heart

emotional vigil last night in lisbon, maine, where more than 1000 people gathered with hugs and tears in mourning for the 18 people killed last week in a mass shooting at two businesses in nearby lewiston. >> one i never knew that this would happen in lewiston. it was just such a heartbreaking thing that it happened. >> suspect robert card, a 40 year old army reserve list with a history of mental health issues, found dead friday with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. his body discovered in an unlocked trailer at a recycling center where he worked. >> why this area? why this many people? why in general? i would love to know why this all happened, because it just doesn't make sense. it really doesn't. >> abc news has learned card continued to have access to weapons despite a yellow flag law in maine allowing guns to be seized from individuals deemed a threat in august, card was turned away from buying a silencer from a gun dealer after card checked the yes box on his

application. that asked in part, have you ever been committed to a mental institution? >> can we still have in our possession an the silencer? it's still here. >> and last month, a local sheriff reportedly sent an alert to other authorities after sources say card threatened to shoot up an army reserve center. >> we paid attention to it, kept an eye on the area. the guy never showed up down here, never had contact with him? no, nothing. >> now the community holding vigil for the lives lost in the more than a dozen wounded in maine's worst mass shooting ever. >> there's a sense of relief, a sense of safety, but it doesn't take away from the huge hole in our community and god heal us in jesus name, amen. >> authorities are still investigating a motive for the mass shooting and any evidence the suspect was ever forcibly admitted to a mental institution which would have come up on a background check. automatic blocking him from buying guns. andrew rhiannon derek dennis,

thank you for that. >> to united auto workers strikes are now over while one lingers on. the uaw reached a tentative deal with stellantis on saturday. more than 14,000 workers are expected back on the job in just the next few days. meantime, the walkout against gm has escalated a total of 18,000 workers are now on strike in four states. >> time now for a look at your morning weather. in denver first, the snow, then the cold. as much as 16in fell in some areas near colorado's capital. overnight lows in the city were in the single digits. flooding outside dallas, meanwhile, left two people dead. both victims were in cars that were swept off a road near the community of warsaw, texas. floods also forced more than two dozen people to be evacuated from a nearby town. looking at today's highs, 40s and 50s in the northeast, 70s and 80s along the gulf coast, most of the nation's midsection won't get out of the 40s.

than a dozen wounded during the shooting. >> in this fight between two groups, we had hundreds of innocent people involved. >> and marissa riker's, 20 year old sister, was visiting from missouri, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg and requiring emergency surgery. >> i've always been like my sister's keeper. that's how big sister is supposed to be. and i can't be that right now for her in indianapolis, ten people shot and one woman killed at a halloween party. >> unfortunately, somebody took it upon themselves to inflict injury and pain on members of our community, and it's not acceptable. meanwhile at least 15 shots at a halloween party in chicago. >> two critically injured between friday and sunday. at least 11 people were killed and 76 others injured in 12 mass shootings across the country. most of the shootings taking place in the early morning hours as large halloween celebrations were wrapping up. back to tampa now, police did make an arrest in that shooting, charging a 22
